I got kicked out of school and was homeless. I went back to school but didn't graduate till 29. I got debt but I make a great salary in a career I really like. I'm also building out a side business to try and pay off my debt. My parents aren't really supportive, so ignoring them has been a great benefit.
I only have to pay $300 or so a month for student loans, but I always put $700 towards it just to try and knock it out.

Life is not fair. That doesn't mean you have to be unfair. Everyone starts with individual benefits. Some have advantages and some do not. At the end of the day, it's about having lived happily ever after, lived fulfilled and maybe not all but achieved some of your dreams. Keep going and never give up!

    7 goals,
    1) built a career and make money., 20s is time for explorations, now gain traction, income is a base tool for wealth!
she did waitress, bartending, add college, banking, real estate, property management book keeping... alot of those i wouldn't do. nerding out and helping others i think is ok!
    2) start converting income into your assets. keep expenses low...
have assets and reserves, and investments. 401k. have self flowing money! recommends stocks and bonds, but bonds has interest, so dividends is better.
suggests roth ira and index fund investment transferred from income.
    3) get over fear of investing!
financial freedom isn't just by income saving! brings up inflation! its like running up a down escalator.
fed chart 50% purchasing power down!
talks about her class in pinned comments, 3 secrets to investing in times of uncertainty.
    4) paying yourself first, treating it like a bill. saving a percentage then spend.
this will help you leave living paycheck to paycheck!
    11 :30 -
    5) diversify income streams, its so obvios with all layoffs, you are secure with more then one stream of money making!
    6) Get on the path to becoming debt Free!
credit card, car loans are very bad, morgage says it goes to equity.
7 ) Monthly money date, if you can't manage it
    mint and other apps.
assets are your ownings, your liabilities are you owe, then net worth... this should go up every month!
try not to compare yourself, we are on our own and compete against yourself!
outer score card makes you spend, vs doing things that make you happy, and didn't lose money in dot com bubble!
building wealth is an inner game!

Fantastic tips, Rose. One thing you said that really resonated with me was at the beginning of your video, "focus on direction, not speed." I believe too many people are overwhelmed and stressed because they compare themselves to others for the definition of success. Occasional comparisons can serve as a motivating factor but overall, comparisons are never done fairly for the simple reason that no one begins the "race" at the same starting life.

    • @MoneywithPennies
      @MoneywithPennies 4 роки тому +6

I totally agree. Too many focus on speed and end up taking too high risk and loosing in the end. Slow and steady most often wins the race.

Well said! I see so many discouraged comments under those “I paid 80K of student debt in 10 months!” If you don’t make even make 80K per year, it’s completely absurd to think you’ll have that much left over to pay off debt. But it does something to folks, psychologically, to see those examples, I love that Rose brought us back down to Earth lol

Great stuff Rose, I've recommended your vlog to my 3 children. Best advice I ever got was from my grandmother. She said, watch your pennies and the dollars take care of themselves, she also said, there is no amount of money too small to save. The third best piece I got was from a friend's grandfather, he said, kid it ain't what you make it's what you save. Save nothing means you made nothing. Keep up the good work Rose.

I’m trying to finally be debt free before I turn 40. Being in my early 30s and still have lots of student loans to pay is killing me and I wanna finally get free from it. I also just started investing this past year so I feel I’m in the right trajectory, even if I started caring about this stuff in my 30s! And one last thing, the new job I got is something I can see myself In long term (at last). This decade is looking up 🙏🏽

I thought I was really behind in my early 30s, and honestly, this is so applicable to anyone trying to get a handle on their finances who isn't... loaded out of their minds. Really applicable and doable things to at least *start* learning more that I need to learn, decide what I need to decide.

This comment is not only about this clip, but I just found your channel and watched several vids, and I love how you compliment the textbook info with your personal insight and experiences. I've seen multiple vids where you are being honest about both your strengths and your opportunities, and past experiences where you might have done something different. It's a refreshing change of pace from the typical personal investment youtubers that all seem savvy and disciplined from the day they opened their childhood lemonade stand. Makes the journey easier to relate to. Thanks.

You're so inspirational. I wish I could've had the chance to see your videos when I was younger. I just turned 33 years old and only had one income which I have lost due to COVID-19. I've been living with my last paycheck and a little saving that I had. I just finished my associate degree a couple months ago which I paid while studying, so I'm currently debt-free from college. Still, I feel that I failed on thinking of other ways to produce incomes. I always thought that once I get my degree I would be able to apply for a better job, which now is difficult to find. For the last 2 months on lockdown I've been feeling frustrated and confused about what to do next. I'm now investing my energy in learning about assets and passive income.
Thank you for the big lessons and tips.

Rose, you are so amazing, thank you for all of your videos. You really motivated me to improve my financial health. I am 28 and I am still in debt. As I am approaching 30's I want to be debt free (at least with my credit cards...), so thank you for always motivating us! You are my financial therapist

Become an adult is rough, isn’t it? Converting cash to assets is very wise although I wasn’t raised that way. I had to learn through my own education and experience. Many people are told to focus on savings rather than investing.

My parents used to look at investing as a way to "waste" money so I was raised with that mentality. It wasn't until I graduated and found a good job that I quickly realize that investment isn't a way to waste money, but a way to make more money. I mean it's a gamble to buy stocks or save up and invest in real estate, but if done right with thorough research, you won't have to worry about future financial problems and mitigate risk.

F savings, I've been investing all my money since I was 19. I'm 32 now and own a few STR homes and paying cash to build another STR, everyone always asks me I bet you have a great savings account... nope, none, I reinvest all my earnings because it makes more than the interest on a savings account.
