- A segment from the long running Australian music TV series Countdown, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987.
This particular segment aired during the Countdown episode which originally aired on March 22, 1987, on the ABC.
This clip features an interview of British singer Pete Burns, from the band Dead Or Alive, conducted by Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator Molly Meldrum.
The interview begins with a discussion about the use of Dead Or Alive's musical production techniques in other musical artists' songs, where Burns cites the examples of Bananarama and Kim Wilde, and expresses his disappointment in their use.
The interview then goes to discussing Dead Or Alive's unique musical sound, and how it wasn't expected that it would be copied by other musical acts.
The song playing in the background is Dead Or Alive's 'Something In My House'.
Goodness! Pete is so beautiful in this interview.
For sure!!!
Los ojos!!!! La mirada!! Hermoso,
He was sooo beautiful in this interview... 😘😘
I could listen to the nice and sensual voice of the vocalist and group leader for hours, it's so relaxing.
Intelligence and eloquence.
So Beautifuul 😍
What a look
I love and appreciate all Dead or Alive does............... they were industrial before NIN, and go toe to Toe with New order..... I really wish countdown would come back, displaying all Australian grunge\punk\ alternative music.......
He is very beautiful here
Dead or Alive (Pete Burns) was one of the most influential and innovative groups of the 80s. Love Pete Burns voice and I always found him incredibly handsome. I wish he stayed away from those plastic surgeons. His face was perfect the way it was.
I agree 👍🏼
Its interesting....he had already had significant work done here, (3 nose surgeries, and lips and a facelift in early '86) but it has all worked for him and he stills looks great, and the changes are pretty natural looking (look at interview footage with him in '83-'84....if you didn't know him, you might not know it was the same person). By the time you get to '89-'90 he starts to overtly look a bit like he's had too much surgery. In some ways, I respect it as its part of the artistry, but clearly it became a big problem for him, and he was defined by it too often by the end of his life....
They should be arrested. They basically murdered him
Omg he was so cute
Strange how they were supposed to play the full interview and surprise surprise Molly's show was axed the week before it was to air!
Holy hell, what did he do to his face later on?😮
Aí meu deus que rosto perfeito ♡

Wish I had all that gorgeous hair.
❤️❤️❤️

Was Pete from Manchester? Original talent!
Liverpool, 'over the water' on the
Wirral
Wirral, nothing to do with Liverpool at all other than sharing a river. Wirral is a completely separate place. He was born in Clatterbridge Hospital actually in the next bed to my mum when mum had my brother in 1959.
listen, he wanted to change his injuries by going under the knife, sued the surgeon
Why do I love him so much
This is the reason he change his face..
Pp Lime what
@@92trdman WTF?!
Pete is one of my absolute favorite singers ever, LOVED his voice. but what he is talking about here is the production which really didnt have anything to do with him. saying people are copying his sound or his music, no they were copying that famous Stock Aitken Waterman production. he had an amazing voice and looked great, but he clearly had some mental issues and he was famously difficult and he was always accusing people of copying him.
What mental issues did he have?
Era guapísimo 💘
Those eyes!
The later surgeries took a great toll. The damage to his lips was irreversible and he kept pushing it further. Could have been prevented if he just said no more. By the time he passed he didn’t look anything like himself. Very sad.
As much of a Pete Burns long time forever fan I have been since 1985. Pete Burns went to Stock Aitken Waterman to sound like Hazell Dean's 'Whatever I Do' and Divine's 'You Think You're A Man' ... So what Bananarama did was the same that Pete did. As a huge Kim Wilde fan as well, she never said she invented High Energy. Those that invented High Energy truly are the likes of Patrick Cowley and Giorgio Moroder. Dead or Alive put High Energy out into the mainstream with Spin me Round because it reached No.1. High Energy previously was only really heard in European Clubs and in Gay clubs.
Those eyes!!!
Te miro y suspiro , Pete , eras hermoso .
I mean I said this before but Dead or Alive didn't come up with that 'sound'. Stock, Aitken and Waterman did. Also going on about Bananara asking to sound like Dead Or Alive is a bit hypocritical. He did same thing when he heard Divine and Hazell Dean on the radio. Which S.A.W produced before Dead Or Alive!
Not really as they always knew what they wanted to sound like but didn’t have the budget to do so in the early days.
@theunknown9437 Well, he did know what to sound like. It was music that played in the clubs around at the same time. Which was called High Energy. Stuff like SAW was already producing. That's why he was a bit disappointed with Sophisticated Boom Boom came out. He wanted to sound like what was playing in the clubs back them. He got pushed back from the record label because they told Pete that music was for Q's.
I can't say the word because youtube will censor the word. I'm just relaying what Pete said in another interview.
Wow how gorgeous, two different contact lenses.
I miss the weekly event that was watching Countdown.
He was the coolest dude who ever lived. I think maybe I loved him dear brother PB. Forever my King!
