Here's a tip for you. Cut up your gold I into big chunks. Put your big circle hook in the meat now and freeze it in there. That way when you cast it out frozen it stays on better for longer.

I’ve only started ice fishing 3 years ago this will be my fourth season & after I went out & spent 2500.00 on ice fishing gear my first season to just see if I even would like it & ive been hooked ever since!!! I’m counting down the days already!! Absolutely love the hard water times!! Some of the best fishing ever I think!!

If you want to keep a fish for bait to use later you can always take a stick and put it through the fishes gils and out the mouth then stick it in the ground like we used to do in the old days when we had no stringer.

Pice of advice josh when you string fish always pirce the lip with a stringer thats way if you want to release them you can otherwise running it in the gills will kill em every time just a helpful tip

I've never seen you flyfish but if you ever want to try it, those goldeye are a great fish to start, and learn, with. They aren't picky about flies, they'll hit streamers, wet flies and dry flies on the surface in the evenings and put up a damn good fight. You could slay 'em in those holes behind the jetties, perfect water for them. Good video as always, take care.

Yep...cold front came through...just giving us more rain than we can handle down here in central Texas. About 30 minutes west of our apartment.. they're supposed to get nearly a foot of rain today.
It's been raining here since about 4 am. I got stuff to do...but...I am not going out in this rain!

Holy crap gold eye look fun to catch. That reel needs some touchup. I use wd40 in the gears after swabbingout water and dirt. Some people hate wd40 but I used it on my baitcastinf reel this spring after it got crapped on, and it still is working good
i used to fish big rivers in Mo a lot when i was a kid. and i found that most often when the water was looking like that my best bet was to take a split body rapella and use it to play injured fish on top of the water. did pretty well doing that.

Like I said when you were catching shads with grass always keep a couple trout flies in your Tackle Box the old big wooly buggers. Are pretty good? Probate bluegills grab these whatever small fish fly along with no weight at all and a little Bob her up a few feet so you can cash it out and then they pulled in smooth water. Get the bucket full Bait and no time.
Here’s a secret use a whole live goldeye on a huge circle hook if you want to catch a giant flathead catfish where you’re fishing.

We were snagging spoonbill and my buddy grabbed a big gar. He had never seen one and asked if they they would bite you right at the time this good ole boy stomped on its head. He said “that one won’t bite you”. He wanted to keep it so my buddy said “fine but how do you eat them.” The river rat man said “ you just grab Mr Gar by his tail and whack him up against a tree until he jump outta his skin and you’re ready to go”.
