i guess it's pure envy from other women! - they're interviewed mostly by women (so far as i;ve seen), written about their alleged salaries by women in women's magazines. Women can be very cruel towards other women, more than men, believe me, i'm no model but my humble success has pissed off quite a few older female coworkers who believed they should be promoted ahead because they are longer in the company when in fact they spend their time gossiping, taking smoking and coffee breaks, browsing internet, using their phones for browsing the internet and mostly survive due to 'ganging up' with similar people. these super models had charisma and willingness to stand out. they're still relevant today and their catwalks are still legendary.

Just saw The Super Models docuseries in Apple TV. So glad to see these women, Linda, Christy, Naomi, Cindy, return to the limelight and be more present together than ever before. Even Claudia returned to Versace, since we didn't get to see her in the docuseries. Also, great to see some old school fashion journalists like Jeanne Beker, Tim Blanks, and Suzy Menkes featured the documentary. 90s were indeed such a special moment in fashion. Also, rest in peace sweet Tatjana.

Everybody knew who the German Barbie was and made designers billions. She is not one of my favorite models, but i think she totally deserved her fee.

People were pissed off that they had to work so hard when these women did nothing more than just walk up and down wearing clothes and make up. It brought the downfall of these super models pretty quickly. And a lot of the designers are actually very happy about this because now they didn’t have to pay models so much and people focused on the clothing instead of the model.
They were independent contractors it’s not just walking and make up. Think of an independent contractor position where you still have different levels and types to encounter on top of material wealth. When we see it like that it won’t be envy for “just walkers”

Of course the designers advertising companies and brands were profitting from those women and they deserve their share. Even a quality in a store window can be expensive because a garment on one sells better than just on a hanger. Those women had seemingly glamourous lifestyles too that image helped sell the products. They looked confident and independent and that's how lots of women wanted to look and feel.
