Poorly executed tricks give it away even without watching the setup. He needs a thinner cane if he wants to actually fool anyone. It doesn't even look like a cane. It looks like a pole that's holding him up. This is the worst execution of this illusion that I've ever seen.
I watched one earlier that was masterfully done. Very slick rigging and their costumes weren't like a clown.
This trick is used so frequently in India to cadge money out of the credible, I've seen some laughably bad attempts - far worse than this one! :D
