Does anyone else want Caitlin to, not re-rank the Barbie movies because that’s a lot of work, but rewatch her ranking video from a few years ago and see how she reacts to it?
I really hope one day, Mattel does remastered versions of their old Barbie movies. Like, with improved CGI. It would give them an excuse to make $100 reproduction dolls, and of course the Adult collectors would buy it in a heartbeat.
I think the bad quality has it's charm, and i think if they did what you suggested, maybe they should mainly focus on the backgrounds and side characters, and less on the iconic characters we know and love just the way they are :)
I don’t think they will ever do this cause it would cost tons and a be a lot of work. But I still wish it would happen. I only got into Barbie movies recently weirdly as a guilty pleasure as they weren’t something I grew up with, and I feel like this is sacrilege to admit it barbie movie circles but I just can’t stand to watch the earliest ones much cause of how they look… the animation is just too ugly. Mermaid Tale onwards is when they get more bearable (visually) for me
I'd also like to praise Cat's Meow for being such a good storytelling tool, too. Like, beyond just being a good song it's fantastic musical theatre writing. Both the lyrics and the enthusiasm they're sung by her singing voice actress (you can just hear how she was smiling in the recording studio) define and deepen Erika as a distinct character so quickly, and it all very seamlessly contributes to the romance plotline by having Dominick overhear it. I'd fall in love if I heard someone singing that too
The only problem I have with Cat's meow is the fact that Dominic casually opens the bathroom door, and stays there watching and listening Erika singing and dancing. Without the wig by the way. Even as a kid, I thought "that’s creepy. No matter how good the guy was, that’s still creepy."
@@inkatana49 i could be wrong, but i think he was still outside of the bedroom and not the bathroom,, he only heard her and didn't see her that's why he was still shocked at the reveal,, i feel like if u sing in a bathroom it's gonna be loud, and u don't have to stand right in front of the bathroom door to listen lol
Cat's Meow really SELLS the fact that Erika loves singing and is talented at what she does. So many kids movies will just cast someone with a decent pop voice and have the characters in the movie be like, "OMG, her voice is aMaZiNg!" and we're supposed to accept that her voice is amazing. Erika sings that song like she's on the top of the world pouring her heart out. Girl is hitting notes you'd hear on Broadway, and all because she wants to tell her cat how awesome he is.
My mom used to sing the cats meow to me when I felt down or didn’t like how I looked and it always made me happy. Those lyrics are so powerful and reassuring. Even though I’m an adult she still sings the cats meow to my kids and they love it. I’m surprised a Barbie movie resonated with her for this long.
Listen Barbie movie soundtracks are all classics that I love, but the impact that You Can Tell Shes A Princess, On Top of The World, Here I am, Shine, Queen of The Waves, I'm a Girl Like You, Life Is a Fairytale, Can You Keep A Secret, Get Your Sparkle On, Here On my Island, Connected and We Rule This School all had on me is unbelievable. Barbie really gave us so many bops.
The very early Barbie movie songs are a classic. You can’t go wrong with Constant as the Stars Above, Written in Your Heart, Always More, Shine and literally every other songs from the Princess and the Pauper and the Island Princess
All the songs from "The Princess and the Pauper" and "The Island Princess" feel like Broadway musical showtunes. No wonder theatre kids actually love all of those songs.
You did the Island Princess songs sooo dirtyyyyy 😭 to answer your question, I do unironically jam out to At The Ball. I think it's an iconic way to do a transformation scene, by setting it up with a song, and I just love Ro's part
I’m really gonna need Mattel to put all the moves on one of the streaming services, this video has made me realise I haven’t seen so many since I was a kid!
Heck yes!!!!! The old songs are so nostalgic. The first time I heard the Rapunzel theme in years almost brought me to tears. Also, I still want a full version of the "Birthday Song" from 12 Dancing Princesses
I love the theme from Rapunzel! And yesss the birthday song from 12 Dancing Princesses needs a full version stat! To be honest some of the old barbie movies just have the best instrumental's and background music. The orchestra's went off on the soundtracks
@@withniejules2244 The sound track in the older once was amazing. Especially in the more ballet type ones like 12 dancing princess, Swan Like, and the Nutcracker. I know with two of them they had ballet scores that were already made. 12 dancing princess instrumentals were amazing. I think the one abt the Pegasus also had a great soundtrack

I definitely agree that the Princess and the Pauper soundtrack deserves to be on a tier list all its own. The quality of the music and the lyrics is just on another level in my opinion. They didn't have to go that hard for their first musical, but they did and I'm forever grateful for it.
I can't believe you put "can you keep a secret" and "queen of the waves" so low!!! I think Pink shoes is one of the only newer movie I genuinely like. The music is good the message is good and the overall theme is amazing it feels like old school Barbie with newer animation
pink shoes is the one where Barbie is an entitled ballerina who changes the traditional dances to suit her own wants. Like it had a message that would’ve suited literally any other context than professional ballet. In industries like professional ballet (with a company), musical theatre or acting you cant just change things up, if you’re the dancer/actor/singer you’re a piece of the puzzle and for it to succeed you’ve got to follow the script as well as you can. Other people are relying on you to make the production work and barbie thinking that shes too good for a solo (yeah she got a solo dance scene and wasn’t happy) and then deciding to do her own thing isn’t good
“There is not one hair of you that I would rearrange” genuinely makes me cry on the SPOT. The Cat’s Meow will forever be my favorite Barbie song, it shaped me as a person tbh
I have always been so curious about the production of Princess and the Pauper. I want to know who fell in love with the concept and made it so outstanding.
I remember having the barbie 12 dancing princesses cd which had Shine on it. I don’t remember if the cd came as an extra with the dvd or on its own or what, but I think it was with my dvd copy. But I only remember Shine being on it, I don’t remember listening to any other song on it if there were others. It has such a special place in my heart and such a special nostalgia
You are so valid for ranking The Cat's Meow so high. Like your sister, I literally can't help but tear up when I start singing along to that song. Erika is a queen for that one.
My favourite is probably "Two Voices, One Song". I love singing the harmonies and the main vocal, and it's so great to do with someone. Plus it's just great to listen to. But there are so many fantastic Barbie songs.
ngl, I love "at the ball" so much. It's just so much fun to sing because the personalitys are so different. I'm a big musical person, so just singing it with your friends lightens up the mood so much. If it comes on, I just start singing on reflex. I love it. Iconic
My favorite Barbie movie song is hands down on top of the world from charm school it’s everything I have it on replay all time honorable mentions include mermaid party and you can tell she’s a princess and queen of the waves
How you felt about “how can I refuse” is how I felt about “Fabulous” in High School Musical 2. I did not know why I didn’t like it and I think subconsciously it was because it was the bad guy song. Than second time around, I fell in love with it. It was also a nice friend moment when I sang it with friends. So the positive memory helped.
apart from the diamond castle songs (two voices one song, connected, we're gonna find it) which i think are truly on another level, my personal favorites are you can tell she's a princess, life is a fairytale, and this is me. absolute bops.
Since I've been following the Barbie movies since it started (yep, 2001 - just the right age for 5-year old me), all I can say is PATP really deserves its own tier! I mostly agree with you, there are some songs that I would put into the God-tier and No Skips tier but I'm pretty satisfied with your ranking! 😌 Plus, you can't go no wrong with Rachel Bearer's theme songs on the modern movies (Fashion Fairytale to Princess Power), so putting most of the songs she sang on the God-tier category is awesome! You can NOT not listen to "Keep on Dancing", "Get Your Sparkle On", "Light Up the World" and "Only a Breath Away" without your serotonin boosted! ❤️
I didn’t grow up on Barbie but omg one day I listened to Hope Has Wings from a nostalgic Barbie playlist and i sung it for MONTHS straight and never got bored, all 2021 and early 2022 I was singing it
Putting Princess and Pauper as its own superior tier? Valid. Just. Valid. Also, Shine for the top rank (excluding the special tier)? EXTREMELY VALID. Girl, we have a lot in common. Princess and Pauper is forever fav. And Shine is just the first Barbie song that I illegally downloaded because it was that good.
Great ranking, Caitlin! I actually enjoy "At the Ball." Definitely not the best in the movie but it's fun to sing along too and way better than "The Rat Song." I don't really like "You Can Tell She's a Princess" either, but I LOVE "On Top of the World." Definitely one of my top 10 Barbie songs. I haven't seen any Barbie movies since Pearl Princess so I haven't really heard any of the new songs but not surprised that a lot of them are in trash tier 😂 However, I added a bunch of the songs from your "no skips" and "godly", that I've either never heard or don't remember, to my "watch later" so that I can listen to them today. My favorite Barbie song is "Free" and Princess and the Pauper just has a golden soundtrack! Also really love I Need To Know, Right Here in my Arms, Two Voices, Connected, Hope Has Wings, and the instrumental versions of the Rapunzel and 12 Dancing Princesses themes.
Duuude I was just looking for Barbie songs on spotify yesterday and realized oh yeah they're not on there! Now I wake up to find this video, you read my mind!
Caitlin, you are the whole reason I watched Princess and the Pauper and you are completely right it is above godly and it is also definitely my favorite Barbie movie too.
I wish all of the Barbie movies were available on Netflix included with the subscription. When I was ill in bed healing from a surgery for a couple of months, in 2018-19, I watched lots of Barbie movies on Netflix. Christmas movies, Musketeers, Mermaids, puppies, a lot!! That kept me entertained during my recovery. But last year, I tried to watch them, and they were all gone!!! They only have the new ones.
I was wondering why they took basically all the movies from the app... Most of them are my comfort movies too, I've been sick for almost 2 months and wanted to re-watch the old ones so I went to Netflix only to be disappointed 🙁 I see Princess and the Pauper there which is fine, but all the others are the recent ones... 😔
The old school Barbie musicals especially, the Princess and the Pauper and Always More have good morals. Like “It’s magic the more you give it away, the more love comes back to you every day” is a good verse and I love that they snuck in some deep quotes in some of the verses of a lot of the Princess and the Pauper soundtrack
I kind of wish there was a comedy song category. Like a category for songs that are objectively bad but they’re comically or purposefully bad in a way that brings you joy and makes you enjoy listening to them. Cause I LOVE You’re Here from Barbie Secret Door as a comedy song. Like it CRACKS ME UP. It’s on my Barbie playlist because I always smile and laugh when it comes on. It’s so over the top dramatic on purpose and it’s HILARIOUS. I might be the number one fan of that song fr.
Appreciate, love all your ranking videos, literally just liked your video straight away, just because of all the effort you put in, in watching all the videos/movies, and ranking all of them Lots of love 🥰
Thank you so much for this video! I had completely forgotten that "Keep on Dancing" and a bunch of others were my jams back in the day! Cried while listening to them again...
5:12 as someone who watched barbie in their native language i can tell you that the polish version is fire, but this- i got it why its in Trash section, damn
I actually agree with SO much of this! Pretty much every time you said “Some of you aren’t going to like this” I was with you. I would put Look How High We Can Fly and On Top of the World higher (despite not really liking either movie) but who cares haha! Also Island Princess songs. The Princess and the Pauper really is a whole other level! Free is probably my favorite but every single one is fire! The Cat’s Meow makes me tear up every single time I hear it and I can’t help but laugh at myself because it’s a song Erika sings to her cat while bathing. Why is it so good?! Anyway, this video gave me the perfect amount of suspense and excitement. Thank you!
I was just SO happy with the ranking of "Shine". I really love that song, and I love how the melody kind of ties with the beautiful: Ahhhs from the soundtrak of the movie.
34:24 LOVE this song. I love how most barbie fans agree that he is the best villain and that in general Princess and the pauper is the best barbie movie
I used to sing "Right here in my arms" as a lullaby to my little sister when we were younger and she was afraid of being alone at night. So it's so nostalgic to me.🥰
30:23 I AGREE!! it's such an underrated song, and ngl i like We're gonna Find It the most from Diamond Castle, and i used to sing this song in a duet with my cousin a lot when we're younger
Totally agree with everything except I Need to Know NEEDS to be either the top of godly tier or in Princess and the Pauper tier... the harmonies are just amazing and give me chills!!
I was waiting the whole time for "Shine," and in my head I started worrying that maybe it just wasn't on the list for some reason. BUT THEN. As soon as it popped up as number one I immediately yelled at my screen, "YOU BET IT IS!" Haha. 12 Dancing Princesses is one of my personal favorites, so I may be biased, but I still get goosebumps every time it comes on my playlist! There's just something about it that hits so hard even as an adult now.
Same! I knew Shine was going to be in the top ranking for one of the higher tiers, but I can't say I wasn't worried when it didn't show up for a while 😂 The instrumental version in the opening credits is a masterpiece, too!
i'm so sad christmas movies didn't make the cut, "the wish i wish tonight" from barbie perfect christmas is truly one of the best and most beautiful songs ever made.
Almost all the Barbie and the Diamond castle songs are my favorite because i remember watching that movie a lot when i was younger so i’m very nostalgic about Barbie and the Diamond castle.
"Two voices one song" is my definite favorite. I haven't listened to any barbie songs for a long time (i watched the movies when i was a kid) and i suddenly got reminded of this song by my brain. The song was stuck in brain for weeks and i was constantly humming the song. But i don't mind it because it's such a good song
Great video. I love the story of you driving with your family and listening to the cat’s meow, songs are so nostalgic and I have a lot of favorites that hit that hard for me also
I will forever be flabbergasted by the fact that Courtney’s what if I shine just vanished and was replaced with the (lowkey imo) subpar remix. Even though the remix was already in the album??
The cats meow used to be meh to me, but yesterday my ears and eyes were open to it again. It truly is the best babrie song. idk why I was sleeping on it, but I've been listening to it on repeat.
Ok as soon as you said "Princess and the Pauper tier" I was like "yes, queen, go on" like. Excellent. Also, being that I haven't watched any Barbie movies since like...Fashion Fairytale, it's an excuse for me to go and listen to some new songs! I am about to binge everything in your "godly" tier that I haven't ever listened to. And I love that you describe those ones at the top as being the musical equivalent of a hug. Like, yeah, Hope Has Wings and Shine will never not put me in a good mood. Great video!!!!
Does anyone else want Caitlin to, not re-rank the Barbie movies because that’s a lot of work, but rewatch her ranking video from a few years ago and see how she reacts to it?

It was also a nice friend moment when I sang it with friends. So the positive memory helped.
This video certifies my claim as to why Princess and The Pauper is the best and greatest Barbie movie of all time.
I listened to “the cat’s meow” after years and just started crying, my heart can’t handle this 😭❤️
apart from the diamond castle songs (two voices one song, connected, we're gonna find it) which i think are truly on another level, my personal favorites are you can tell she's a princess, life is a fairytale, and this is me. absolute bops.
Plus, you can't go no wrong with Rachel Bearer's theme songs on the modern movies (Fashion Fairytale to Princess Power), so putting most of the songs she sang on the God-tier category is awesome! You can NOT not listen to "Keep on Dancing", "Get Your Sparkle On", "Light Up the World" and "Only a Breath Away" without your serotonin boosted! ❤️
Omg I love Queen of the Waves. And LOVE You Can Tell She is a Princess. It makes me feel better abt myself
I haven't seen any Barbie movies since Pearl Princess so I haven't really heard any of the new songs but not surprised that a lot of them are in trash tier 😂
However, I added a bunch of the songs from your "no skips" and "godly", that I've either never heard or don't remember, to my "watch later" so that I can listen to them today.
I was literally just complaining about the lack of Barbie music on spotify the other day, perfect timing!
Does anyone else follow that one Spotify "podcast" which is just the Princess and Pauper songs because I definitely do💀💀
Same
I didn’t know that was a thing!!! What is the name of the podcast???
@@sadiesmith1509 one is called " early 2000s Barbie" , and then there's another one called " Samantha"
Duuude I was just looking for Barbie songs on spotify yesterday and realized oh yeah they're not on there! Now I wake up to find this video, you read my mind!
I still have the CDs 😂
I’m living for Barbie Media Discourse! Thank you so much 👏🏽
mermaid party and queen of the waves being rated that low HURT my childhood, but i respect the ranking!!
Caitlin, you are the whole reason I watched Princess and the Pauper and you are completely right it is above godly and it is also definitely my favorite Barbie movie too.
Whenever I come across a question I need the answer to I always find myself singing “I need to know these answersss I need to find my way”
I wish all of the Barbie movies were available on Netflix included with the subscription.
Most of them are my comfort movies too, I've been sick for almost 2 months and wanted to re-watch the old ones so I went to Netflix only to be disappointed 🙁
I see Princess and the Pauper there which is fine, but all the others are the recent ones... 😔
If you still need a place to watch Barbie movies including the old ones, I can leave you a link so you search for the ones you want
@@Rosegirl398 could you, please, leave the name of the website?
“A Fairy Secret” was one of my favorite Barbie movies growing up, and “Can You Keep a Secret” was another iconic Barbie song. For me, anyway.
Favorite line from the Cats Meow had to have been “you’re no status quo calico” always tickled me as a kid even if I didn’t know what it meant
I've been WAITING for this!!!!
Edit: I disagree with alot of them but love to see your opinion! Also I love at the ball and almost never skip it so
I kind of wish there was a comedy song category.
Now I NEED Shine on Spotify!
Appreciate, love all your ranking videos, literally just liked your video straight away, just because of all the effort you put in, in watching all the videos/movies, and ranking all of them
Lots of love 🥰
Thank you so much for this video! I had completely forgotten that "Keep on Dancing" and a bunch of others were my jams back in the day! Cried while listening to them again...
youre the one deserves princess and the pauper tier, literally was on my spotify wrapped
5:12 as someone who watched barbie in their native language i can tell you that the polish version is fire, but this- i got it why its in Trash section, damn
I've been saving this video for a very bad day. Your videos always make me feel comfy and happy, thank you for doing these!
I love Connected and Believe, but I also really love We're Gonna Find It. I always get so excited when it comes up on Spotify.
Thank you!
Yesss “we’re gonna find it” is so good!! 1000% deserves godly tier!
My personal favorite is “i need to know” 😌
Your background tho - also Barrie songs are literally just my study playlist but then I get distracted and have to turn it off 😆
barbie island princess should for sure become a stage musical because the music and emotions in this movie hit different
Free of barbie as princess and the popper is such a chefs kiss for me
Pauper*
I was just SO happy with the ranking of "Shine". I really love that song, and I love how the melody kind of ties with the beautiful: Ahhhs from the soundtrak of the movie.
ok but "at the ball" is a great song, one of my favorites, and gets stuck in my head at least 3x a year
34:18 it was also popular on tiktok!!
its.. a.. temporary setback! a momentary..'
34:24 LOVE this song. I love how most barbie fans agree that he is the best villain and that in general Princess and the pauper is the best barbie movie
I think about the cheese song from “Barbie as the Island princess” at least once a month. Well, when my brain decides to remind me of it.
I used to sing "Right here in my arms" as a lullaby to my little sister when we were younger and she was afraid of being alone at night. So it's so nostalgic to me.🥰
I *adore* can you keep a secret 😭😭 I never even grew up with this movie no nostalgia I just cannot HELP bopping to it in the intro to fairy secret.
26:04 TWO VOICES, ONE SONG FROM BARBIE IN THE DIAMOND CASTLE!!!! :DDDD
27:00 CONNECTED!!!! From Barbie and the Diamond Castle
30:20 WE’RE GONNA FIND IT!!!
26:12 "This is also a love song bc i said so" *SO TRUE QUEEN*
I agree so much to say that Princess and The Pauper has the best songs of all the barbie movies and one of the best soundtrack of all time.
i'm so sad christmas movies didn't make the cut, "the wish i wish tonight" from barbie perfect christmas is truly one of the best and most beautiful songs ever made.
i loved this video so much caitlin!! the cat's meow has ALWAYS been my favorite barbie movie song and i was SO happy when you put it at number one
I didn’t even know Swan Lake and Rapunzel had songs. Well I feel like in Swan Lake’s case, Tchaikovsky’s music pretty much speaks for itself.
barbie and the diamond castle has one of the best soundtracks of all time and you will never change my mind
The Diamond Castle soundtrack was full of 👏BANGERS👏
36:00 THANK U non of my friends/family agrees with me saying this song is a masterpiece
i need to know makes me so emotional EVERYTIME I listen to it especially when they both harmonise
20:21 I immediatly started screaming the lyrics, so I think that speaks for itself
Great video. I love the story of you driving with your family and listening to the cat’s meow, songs are so nostalgic and I have a lot of favorites that hit that hard for me also
queen of the waves in trash is A CRIME
PLEASE put the full list in the description so we can refer to it! 👀👀👀
kk ❤️
@@caitlinmckillopI’m actually a boy but I still like you and your videos
Queen of the waves 💔💔💔
I will forever be flabbergasted by the fact that Courtney’s what if I shine just vanished and was replaced with the (lowkey imo) subpar remix. Even though the remix was already in the album??
Yeah I recently saw that. I believe it was a mistake on their part.
keep on dancing and you’re the one i listened to while on shrooms and TRUST me they changed my life
The cats meow used to be meh to me, but yesterday my ears and eyes were open to it again.
Secret door songs are bops. Like I can never skip most of the songs 😭
27:58 This is so true, You're the One literally made me watch the horse movie because I heard it in a trailer.
Keep on dancing is such a beautiful song, Barbie in the Pink shoes is such a good Barbie movie, I wish it got more love from the fans
Me too, is one of my favorite barbie movie, is so underrated
Yeah it's the last good Barbie movie after pink shoes they became meh and then bad
i never skips "at the Ball" moreover i sometimes listen to it without a movie because the part when barbie starts to sing is just so beautiful
