After many months the setup is nearly finished. Only few trim panels and that's it. I will also put much more plants in the terrarium side as I find more bogwood and some branches to carry them properly. The total paludarium size is around 6000 liters.
    More info: www.monsterfish...
Fishes: L25, L282, Acanthicus Adonis, Geophagus winemilleri, G. altifrons "Maicuru", Satanoperca daemon, Cichlasoma festae, Osteoglossum ferreirai, Potamotrygon Hystris & Motoro...

Beautiful example of what can be done with proper planning and execution ... minor irregularities are heavily outweighed by the overall effect ... very good mix of bio type also ... congratulations from a dedicated fish keeper in Australia

Beautiful shadowy effects and looks so much like the Amazon river. Seems calm and peacful in there.

    1) I also have tanks 2) I was searching for some information on how to set up an amazon tank 3) the music is fantastic, I love this kind of shit. Conclusion : You're close to becoming my spiritual leader ;) or I will be your little brother, with my rio 400 ready to be transformed into an amazon tank. BRILLIANT VIDEO. Only problem with an open tank is the humidity... I 'll stick to a closed tank in my living room, without the emerge plants....although I dream about tank with emerge plant setup.

@GeophagusBrasiliens Moon light at the beginning of video is 10W led spot near the ceiling. Around 750 lumens, 6500K and bought from DX. The main light is DIY 250W HQI with 10000K lamp. Bought the parts from Fish-Street and the the lamp is FC2 Double-ended. Installed the light as high as possible. Target was to get light coming from single point so all the shadows and light rays will be drawn sharp.

@TheCrankinguru Yes going to get rid of Festae. I had 5x psittacus, but those were quite boring. Currently there is total of 7 G.winemiller. Cichla ocellaris + 2x large crenicichla + 3x bdxleos coming..

I've been reading few articles about pseuda breeding. I have 3x L282 but no time to try to breed those. It would be easier to get 720 liter tank with only the plecos in it. Also needing specially made spawning caves. Check the later video on my channel also.

Heh.. My mother's husband is just currently visiting Singapore. :D Will leave back to Finland at Saturday I guess. For the fishes... Pseudas takes really long time to get used to their habitat. After reorganizing driftwood it can take 2 months that plecos comes out from shades.

  • @cech01

i guess its best to use those german made caves... :)
i'm looking at your more recent videos.. its so cool because your pseudas are coming out even during the day.. maybe big specimens does that.. my 6" L114s are hiding. I'm doing up a SA tank as well, with some inspiration from your tank.. so i gotta thank you! regards from Singapore :)

Amazing tank, that lighting makes all the difference. How did you create the light patterns- just hanging lights and surface agitation? Also what are your tank dimensions? 3000 litres is huge! If I had a big enough tank I'd convert from Amazon to SA in a second after watching this.

hey, Singapore is one of the places where all the fishes come from all over the word before being exported again, so we do get a lot of species. let me know if you are looking for any species in particular, then maybe you can get your dad (or step?) to bring them back :D

Sure.. It's single 250W HQI. Color temp 10000K, just plain simple reflector. Cheapest parts I could find from China. That's it! :D Well nowadays I have replaced it with 400W version as plants weren't growing well enough. Just got parts for 200W LED light and tried a prototype briefly. Should find time to finish it..

nice! great quality too. I'd love to do something like this one day with the exposed wood and plants, but sadly we don't get any suitable reptiles here in New Zealand to make it worth while (fish species are pretty limited too, sadly). Those winemilleri are stunning!

lovely, lovely tank. Your light management is working pretty good as i can say either from the shadings and from the colours of the fish, which are amazing. My only concern would regard that Parapetenia festae: it comes coming from a different habitat than the other fish and it's gonna get quite aggressive too, why do'n u consider a little group of Psittacus? they are more likely to get along woth other fish and will make excellent fish for ur tank! ps. a tannic water would do the job.

Size is great, but the decoration fails in my eyes. Not enough and proper bogwood in the first place. A ceramic pipe has nothing to do in a natural decorated tank too. Put leafs on the bottom, and little pieces of bogwood, the chips so to speak, that will make it sdo look much more natural. The background isn't made natural too i see. Sorry for the harsh comment, but when you spent a lot of money for a tank like this, i think you should do it the proper way...

What has that to do with money, if you are wanting to keep animals, keep them as they should be! Otherwise leave your hands of them. There is to much animal crualty already, just because of human greedness!

Yes, the pipe / clay cave look unnatural but the way you put it is purely insulting and not constructive! Another piece of wood could be used to block the sight of the cave.
I hope you know why there's a need for the cave, it's because adonis & pseudas are territorial plecos and they need space to hide or else they would fight.
Sorry, i won't let someone insult such a beautiful setup with a conducive environment for the fish to live. I myself tried to build my SA tank based on bymoor's!
