Sacrificial baffles and faster follow up shots while unsuppressed are why i like brakes.

I love this series and I wish more people would pay attention to the type of ammo they use when comparing and contrasting flash/signiture. Steel cased ammo from eastern Europe usually contains very flashy powder and also bi-metal (zinc, mild steel, ect) jackets that add alot of flash and spark. Having a load with a faster, flash mitigated powder, and quality bullets with actual copper jackets can make a huge difference when it comes to short barrels and signature reduction.

it's hard to believe that someone would pick that particular can over so many better options. cool test though

What's the best combination for flash mitigation of all time you've found so far? For any platform.

11.5 inch barrel in 5.56 with my high flow can using 77 gr BH OTM is very good for nvg use at night. My experience.

If you can't do a suppressor, or if you just want an alternative, a longer barrel like 14.5-16inch and a long, prong type flash hider (surefire 3 or 4prong, JP muzzle flash eliminator) usually gets you 95% of the way there for FLASH mitigation, obviously not sound but definitely flash. Couple that with quality ammunition with faster burn rate powder and usually you will not even notice the flash at night.

Surefire socom 762TI on a 9" 300 blackout 220 gr subs has absolutely zero flash

Down to powder burn rate and how much of the powder is actually combusted in the barrel versus off-boarded to burn out the front of the muzzle. Powder charge should be optimized for barrel length if possible just like A CCW handgun versus A "Service Size" handgun. A 7.3 inch barrel is ridiculous itself, a 9-10 inch in .300BLK would be the better fit if you need to be "Discreet".

Pardon my ignorance, but what’s the takeaway here? Do we just trial and error until we find one that’s really low? Is it a quality thing? I feel like ammo that caters to this isn’t very well advertised. As a consumer who wants a lower signature, I’m lost on how to achieve it beyond just not getting steel cased ammo
