Goodness! I just discovered that there is a mistake in that tutorial!!! IN the first bar, the Bb7(13) is incorrect, that should be E7#9/B So the fingering when you're tuned in Eb is: E8, D7, G8, B9 sorry about that :-)
So now I have an unrelated question: What would other musicians do to jam with Stevie? Would he tune up to standard tuning or would ever other guitarist tune down? Or would they avoid Eb blues jams and just play Gb, Ab blues further up the neck?
@@jrbr549 That's a good question, I don't know. I've played quite a few jazz gigs where it isn't uncommon to play in the key of Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, etc. Bass players just play in standard tuning there. But in a blues setting that may be different and is probably down to personal preference of the bass player I think. But I couldn't say with any certainty
I noticed UA-cam had blocked a ton of my earlier videos so in the process of the coming weeks I'll be reuploading them, hoping they'll be here to stay. My pride and joy Tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/mjVeiSWiDCE/v-deo.html For TAB download please check patreon.com/yourguitarworkshop Enjoy!!
Hello sorry but I got confused. The written chords up top as well as what you're saying is as if we were in the standard tuning, but in actuality this song is played tuned half step down (so all of these are technically transposed half step up from the original), correct?
Truthfully the tutorial is great just by the fact of not being obsesses with playing it in Eb.... just put it in the easy spot where most will play it... oh my god.. I was about to say "Some DipS*&T will come on here and say "THIS IS WRONG its in Eb!!!" and low and behold i scroll down and there he is...
@@Yourguitarworkshop absolutely.. obviously TOTALLY useless if its not tuned down to Eb.... like no help at all.... hell I'm playing this thing with a fixed bridge guitar not a strat!!! WRONG... what am I even THINKING not playing it in the original key and with this piece of crap guitar.... (obviously I hope you hear my sarcasm here... nice lesson man... I just don't understand these people and with this guy I can't imagine he can really play too well if he thinks playing it in E changes anything... but there is always one to bash a free lesson!
It sure sounds at looks to me like he plays a f7#9 chord form (the Hendrix chord) and then F7b9 on that 5th chord. You play it like a Bb13 chord. Take a look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/3c_8VUL5jks/v-deo.html It looks to me like his middle finger is on the 8th fret. I know he loved playing the 7#9 chord a lot. What are your thoughts?
Your comment should be framed or used as an example for others on youtube: You're providing constructional feedback, communicating something to solve a possible problem, in a way that is clear to others as well, providing a video link, keeping an open mind and not assuming you're correct, asking for the youtuber's thoughts on the matter. About your question. If you're talking about the chord at 0:12 in the video, I agree, it does look like that. However when you listen closely you hear a low B in the bass not the E. So I am fairly certain it is as how I wrote it down. However, E7#9 probably works well too so if you feel that sounds better or is as it should be played you can of course. Hope this helps, André
@@Yourguitarworkshop I've listened over and over and I can't pick up the lowest B (Bb considering he tuned down a half step). My ears aren't built that sensitive unfortunately. We agree on the top 3 notes. I even slowed the vid to 50% and used my bigger speakers.

Love how in depth this is. Already learning this song pretty quick, and I'm doing this on an SRV Strat.

Thought you'd like that one... man people are something else.... (ps you're a HACK that didn't even KNOW that the song HAS to be played in Eb!) :-)
I think it's great, don't have to retune my strat to play along haha
