2021 Cadillac CT5 Premium Luxury Review: Let Us Explain

  • The #new #Cadillac #CT5 takes a little bit of explaining. This new sports sedan claims to reside in the compact segment but has interior dimensions more aligned to the midsize sedans. Think of it as a 3 Series fighter with the interior footprint of a 5 Series. The CT5 doesn't strictly replace the defunct CTS but it's best to think of the new CT5 in that light. For this review, I'm testing out the Premium Luxury trim with the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 and AWD. Let's get this CT5 out on the road to see what it's like compared to its rivals.

I don’t think Cadillac is confused, I think _you_ are confused on this brand generally speaking. You think their only point was “more physical car for less” when this car does so much more than just be larger for the same money. This car is also the most versatile in it’s segment in other trims. It’s the best performer of it’s segment with the best design. There isn’t a quicker luxury sedan around a track nor is there one with better handling. You’ve clearly missed the mark of the CT5 in Premium Luxury form.

The turn signal stalks though seriously? If cost cutting most happen it better have been in the “materials” of my signal indicator and nothing I actually care about! Well done job, Cadillac! For this car to be $10,000 cheaper than the Cadillac CTS it replaces but worlds in improvements this is a amazing start to a new era! Lots of unnecessary nit-picking and flat out “hating” on these new sedans from GM where others don’t even offer contenders anymore.

Oh my, the horror…. Two volume knobs!!!
In all seriousness, the volume knob in the console is great when you’re using the arm rest. It lets you make adjustments while one handed driving.

Interesting. The guy who’s dressed like he just came in from cutting grass can’t get beyond the two volume buttons and the design of the steering wheel stalks, which become a major distraction for his review. They’re an affront to the extremely high bar he has for aesthetics, it seems.

Cadillac did a great job with this vehicle. Ambient lighting would look nice in this vehicle but yet a nice car 👍🏽

You've missed the entire point of this car. It's supposed to be more comfortable and much more affordable than the import competition and yet still be sporty and luxurious. The imports are 10-15K more than this car so those savings have to come from somewhere. I'd take the good chassis and drive train along with some lesser materials to save the money and still have a really nice car. It makes me laugh when people say Cadillac (or any domestic manufacturer) cut corners on some things so its not as nice as the competition. Yet if Cadillac did use all premium materials and charged more $ the same people would say oh its just as much as an Audi so why not buy the Audi?? As for the Volume knob issue, who cares??? There are actually 3 if you include the steering wheel just use the one you prefer. As for the back seat the CT5 back seat is much larger than anything in its price range and many above its price range. I'd take this car and $15k in my pocket over and A4/A5 or 3 series any day. Even at even money the CT5 is a much nicer daily driver than its competition.

I do agree with this guys assessment of Cadillac changing the ATS to CTS TO the CT4 and Ct5. WHY did the have to do this? FROM UBER CTS AND ATS owner.

Better question: WHY does Cadillac need to provide you a reason for improving their sedan lineup without tampering with the legacy of previous nameplates? The brand is clearly moving forward whilst maintaining their racing heritage and these cars are much more sporty than their predecessors. It’s common sense, not hard to understand what they’ve done and why.

I can agree wholeheartedly in his position because statistics would prove that to be true. And having him speak in a public forum without someone shouting him down or interjecting is the only way we can truly understand and appreciate history. That's why I believe if you gonna tell the story, tell the whole story. That said we as a society have to acknowledge and reconcile what changed in the time frame from the 50 years he spoke of and where we are now. And that's regardless of what that looks like. We have to answer the questions like why the black man was removed, or chose to leave their homes and families? Why were Jim Crow laws created? Why was the KKK allowed to exist and grow its membership into the millions? Why was "Birth of a Nation" screened at the White House? Why were prominent black neighborhoods, burned to the ground when they appeared to be too successful to their competitors? I have mixed feelings about reparations yet I can't simply dismiss the impact the institution of discrimination to and exploitation of black African people in America, from the time the color of ones skin was used socially to distinguish slavery which built this nation and separate groups of people from their own like field negro from house negro to the present day when even attempting to discuss teaching history creates divides.
