Hello bro, your channel is super professional and I have a question needs your specialty to explain. Let's assume there is a nuclear sub like Virginia class is tracking and want to attack a destroyer like Burk IIA at a distance of 100Km. Can you analyze and tell us which has more chance to win this 1on1 combat. Thanks.
In my personal opinion with my very limited knowledge, i think the destroyer is always in advantage.

I was thinking "why didn't they put Granit on it?"
So I compared the missile and oh boy... the Siren has a mass of 3180kg vs Granits 7000kg.
    The Granit 😮
I knew the Granit was big, but not 7 tons big.

Yeah, flying supersonic consumes a lot of fuel, so in order to still have a decent or good range, the missile has to be huge.

Most navies can't afford carriers or even modern well-equipped destroyers so these smaller vessels give them a pretty good long-range anti-ship, and even land attack capability for relatively little money. They're not the basis for a blue water navy and global power projection, but they're not intended to be either.

SA-N-4 is the naval version of the ubiquitous SA-8 Gecko tactical SAM for the Soviet army.
It's a quite capable weapon against slower attack aircraft and helicopters, with a nasty optical tracking capability for use in heavy ECM environments.

The reason these small ships can sport such a large offensive punch is because of the trade-off game. They have minimal anti-air, and no ASW or aviation facilities. They're specifically designed to kill surface ships, but are completely vulnerable to air and sub attack.

I look at these, and see how they are used, and, all I can think of is "they were dead the day they got assigned to that boat". In looking at our own LCS class, I had the same thought. Israel stated that the attack was a case of mistaken identity, believing the ship to be an Egyptian vessel. The Israelis apologized for the mistake, and the Israeli government later paid compensation to the victims or their families, as well as to the U.S. government for the damage to the ship.

I am sure some one caught it but the IV at 9 min mark was a test bed for the P800/Yankhont/ssn22 and is not a version of the harpoon. It is a supersonic ASCM with LACM ability. It has a 400KM range /high low/ and has been used to strike targets at 700km high/high from the black sea deep in Ukraine. This is a big diff, like saying you are about to fight Michelle Tyler and when you go to the fight you find out its Mike Tyson!
Only one Nanuchka ship in the pacific fleet has been modernized. It is unlikely many if any more will be modernized (plans change) but 18 Karakurt class have been built to replace. The vast majority have already been built and await fitting out.

The USN has o need for coastal defense ships. It is very unlikely a foreign navy will get close to the US coast. And even if they did, the US Air Force could easily interdict. And of course, the US Coast Guards have some vey capable vessels if given the time to upgrade for war. As such, US warships have to have long range and generally good seakeeping capabilities because the USN will be taking teh fight to the enemy. This requires a bigger vessel t ocarry more fuel and supplies for long voyages and patrol far from friendly bases. For the Soviets, this isn't a factor. They can devote much more displacement and space for firepower since they do not need it for fuel or supplies.

US and NATO ships also carry their weapons on deck - Tomahawk, Harpoon, Exocet, Sea Dart, Standard, Tartar, Talos, Sea Slug, RBS-15, Otomat, etc were all carried on deck either exposed with a below-deck magazine or in self-contained boxes, as were torpedos and various ASW weapons.
