    I agree with you that scooters are a great urban and suburban commuter vehicle, definitely more convenient than riding my bagger to the store or across town to visit a friend. With a 4 gallon tank and the high MPG, it practically runs on fumes. It is far more practical than an electric bike, especially on range. This is something worth looking into.

    I’m 100% on board with scooters as transport. But $4999 for this vs $5799 for the Yamaha XMAX, which is the same size class doesn’t make the most sense. Id say the majority of people would take the Yamaha for the proven reliability and expensive dealer network. Sure the Chinese scooters have come a long way, but why get the copy when you can get the real deal for less than a grand more?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  Рік тому +5

      The weird thing here is that no one brings the Xmax to their dealers. Usually the only scooters they will sell from Yamaha is the Zuma. And even then that is rare. It is the belief in most of these dealers that Scooters just do not sell here, which riding about in Downtown OKC I can tell you they most certainly do. I have seen many of Freedom's smaller line buzzing about since their inception and I have seen many others, even a guy on a restored 2 stroke Vespa the other day who took great pride in the restoration. We have to overcome that stigma to help grow that market to help bring the Xmax back to us in essence.

    • @spdbydesign2012
      @spdbydesign2012 Рік тому

      Yes, sadly the Xmax is vaporware.
      Advertised on Yamaha’s website, but basically impossible to find on dealer floors.
      The few dealers that do want $1000-2000 markups…..plus big freight & doc fees.

    have loved my 2003 Honda 250 scooter, great mileage and my infrequent trips from Cheyenne WY to Denver or Fort Collins in CO is no problem. The big problem in the U.S. is that a few years ago someone in congress put in a bill making a restriction not allowing any new scooter over 300cc to be sold in the country stating not meeting emission standards.

    I've never heard of the stigma of riding a smaller motorcycle. I road smaller bikes for years and only got compliments. I have heard of the stigma of riding scooters, mostly from people who ride scooters referring to others who have this supposed stigma against scooters. I've ridden scooters for the past 20 years and exactly one time I had a teenage in a car full of teenagers yell something out the window to me about me being a "f-g" (I assumed because I was for riding a scooter)The light turned red as the passed me out so they had to stop at the stoplight, lol. I road up to the passenger side window and he pretended not to see me, and took my helmet off and said "what did you say to me?"... and he coward back in his seat and said "I was just messing around, sorry".. or something like that (while his friends were laughing at him) lol. Not everyone has to like scooters, but the kind of person that would actually voice a disparaging opinion in public has the maturity level of a child, a child whose being raised shitty.

Have seen Freedom Scooters and cannot find any differences, and also the Wottan version of all 3 are the same. At least I hope so. After doing a little research, I’m going for a Suzuki Burgman. Not because I think it’s a better value than the freedom 300, but because I can’t find one! The closest new 300 is currently 870+ miles away from my home. And they’re more rare than hens teeth. I’m paying cash, so financing is not an issue between the two bikes. Very disappointing. I’d love the Freedom, but I need a scooter in the next month or so.

      Good choice these things rust to pieces within 2 years...they put mismatched metals through out and the bolts and screws bond themselves in. You can't find any thread locker on the bolts except on the brake discs. the coatings are tissue thin, they're cheap for a reason, first valve adjustment is at 1000 kilometres, the second at 4000 ..a total waste of money, buy used Japanese over this junk.

    I don't know. I have a 200L Vespa and while I love it, in a more rural small town setting I still felt just too small and light on anything beyond the secondary roads or actually in town. After watching the video, that 300 still makes me think of the Shriners riding their little Honda Trail 50s in the parade. I'll stay with my 650GT and if there was something even slightly larger, ( Honda Forza GT??)I'd probably be trying it out and sure as heck don't see myself being on an expressway with nutjobs in cars cutting in and out and 18 wheelers that probably can't see me. As far as efficiency goes, that great milage is only comparable if your have only 1 or 2 people in the car and aren't hauling "things" that don't fit in a backpack. I ride for the love of riding, not to save the world. I get hit on my bicycle for that !LOL

    • @krollpeter

      Vespa with its small wheels is not for longer trips, IMO, regardless cc. Sofa scooters are a lot better for this, in particular, if they have bigger wheels.

    Motorcycle are usually for making a statement and being cool first, and transportation last, scooters are for transportation very first, and they just happen to be the definition of comfort and reliability, and nowadays even stylish, the person who would look down on you for riding a scooter, are same fools who will look down on people for any reasons there can find because they are insecure in themselves and likely only have a traditional Motorcycle as a statement of confidence to make up for their childish insecurities to begin with, so when i come across those folks i know they are trying to project their insecurities on me and anyone else, so i always have a laugh!!😂

    This bike looks nice, but still it's too much $$$ for a 250cc Scooter, sorry.
    Why do I see a water cooled Vitacci Ranger / Cougar 250cc water-cooled scooters of nearly identical spec listed for $2500 - 2700, but "out of stock" at several DFW Chinese Power sports Dealers ?
    Hmmm....are they similar clones but they've decided to jack the price to double ?
    That's been the scam run on us since Covidiocy began.
    Myself, I got a nice low miles 2006 Burgman 400 with 8,000 miles for $2,000.

    It's pretty obvious you haven't been 'everywhere else but here'. In almost ALL other countries they never commute on 70mph roads. All over Europe/Africa/Asia their commute is on very slow roads and often through villages or small towns. Get a clue...

  • @scottgoodson5132
    @scottgoodson5132 10 місяців тому

    I own a maxi but wouldn’t feel comfortable commuting on it. Too many bad drivers on the road and cars are much safer and much more comfortable, especially in very hot or very cold weather. It’s not worth trying to change peoples perspective on the subject, there are many reasons why people choose to use cars over scoots or motorcycles. When I was in China, EVERYBODY rode electric scoots in big cities but NOBODY rode them on highways.
    My scoot is solely for tooling around in the country, on the weekends.
