These hoods are still violent, but its still drastically less than back in the day. In the 80's and early 90's, South Central LA was a warzone, especially because of the crack epidemic and increased gang violence. Masterpiece movies like Menace II Society and Boyz N The Hood illustrate that perfectly.

I like how he doesn't narrate and let's the streets speak for themselves. And if you listen and watch objectively there is so much to learn both positive and negative. Growing up in the hood actually gave me anxiety because the violence is so unpredictable. It doesn't take much to set something off. Mom didn't allow us to play outside very much especially me because I was a girl so I saw a lot from my bedroom window. Believe it or not there's a lot of love in the hood. Difference is that some of that love is misplaced and some will kill over it.

I will be your tour guide to explain the different gang territories he drove by. 1st while on Crenshaw Blvd on your right hand side of the car is Water Gate Crips (WGC's) of Hawthorne/ Inglewood (DJ Pooh or Red from Friday Neighborhood). On the left side you can barely see is the Imperial Village Crips (IVC's) of Inglewood turf (Big Syke (R.I.P.) from 2Pac (R.I.P.) group Thug Life turf). The IVC's are worst enemy is the WGC's and they are directly across the street from each other. As he made that right going East on Imperial Highway, on the right still The Water Gate Crips and on your left is the Inglewood Avenue Piru Gangster Bloods. A short while later, now your back in Watts CA. in the Block Bounty Hunter Blood turf. Then you went across the street to Ace Hi Liquors which is on the Crip side of Watts. After that you moved back west of Wilmington Avenue to the Watts Nickerson Gardens projects home of the Bounty Hunter Bloods (The Bounty Hunter Bloods have 3 parts to their Neighborhood Belhaven Bounty Hunters, Nickerson Garden Bounty Hunters and the Block Bounty Hunters. After that you went east of Wilmington to the Imperial Courts projects home of the Project Watts Crips.

North of Nickerson Gardens there’s a park on 109th st that I’d rather avoid. Boston Cream Donuts on Wilmington Blvd & Anaheim St in Wilmington is a pretty bad corner. I drove several guys home for years in the 10's and 20's blocks in south central so they wouldnt have to take the bus all the way down Western which took over an hour. I scored dime bags there and even hung out and Im a white boy from Tx. I can tell you that the LA streets are hard as hell because it's so expensive to live even there in the hood but...... Dallas and several other southern cities like Baton Rouge and Nashville NC have some scarier places. Dallas has area's where the cops just dont go. And if you do chances are you're getting jacked.

This video is inspiring for me to visualize changing my life. Going from getting by to thriving. We stay visiting the hood when we go outta town. Will always be in me.

I like this LA flavour. The sun and the palmtrees. Still in germany many People knows this projects.
I allready know that People over there didn't play and lost their live's 4 their hood, so no disrepect.
