THE MOST ASTOUNDING PROPHECY IN THE BIBLE

  • Now, for a moment, move back to Isaiah 45:1.
One of the Most Astounding Biblical Prophecies-A person is named in v. 1 as Cyrus.
Cyrus is an identifiable person in history, mentioned also in II Chronicles 36, Ezra 1-4, and Daniel 1-10. Cyrus ruled Persia from 559 to 530 BC. There is nothing extraordinary so far, except when you look back at when Isaiah wrote this chapter.
For the biblical facts, look at Isaiah 6. When did Isaiah start writing? “The year that King Uzziah died”. When was that? 739BC. That date happens to be exactly 200 years BEFORE Cyrus was the King that Ezra & Daniel are writing about.
Let me give you a modern equivalent to help that event sink in. Russia recently elected a man named Vladimir Putin to be the next President of Russia. On March 18, 2024, Putin won the presidential elections of Russia. That is just a fact of history.
But, for a well-known and recognized servant of God to have publically predicted that momentous event in writing 200 years ago would be astounding.
Three very well-known and godly men lived 200 years ago. Most of us in this place have heard of one or more. They are pioneer missionaries to India William Carey, American missionary Adoniram Judson, and famed orphanage founder and man of faith George Muller of Bristol, England. So, all three of those servants of God were alive 200 years ago.
What you are reading in Isaiah 45 about Cyrus being in power would be the historical equivalent of one of those three missionaries writing, publishing, and distributing the world over--that a man by the name of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin would become the President of Russia, in the future.
Only God would know such a thing. Only God could know who will rule on Earth and when. Only God's Word has historical facts prophetically revealed hundreds and even thousands of years before they happen.
In God’s Word, we hold history written in advance, called Biblical Prophecy.

I watched a video a couple of days ago about calling our Father “daddy”. I can’t do it! I feel that it is irreverent. I’m not having a go at anyone, if you feel to pray that way there I’m happy for you. But I can’t call God Dad or daddy, it just doesn’t feel right to me. Thank you for your comment. @@chrisby777 I understand where you are coming from. My friend says the same thing. But Christ Himself cried out to God saying, ''Abba, Father'' - and Paul reiterated that we can call God Abba - Abba, being the Hebrew word for Father, Dad, Papa, Pop (I just checked that on Google translate - there seems to be no distinction between the four)..
I read Greek, being Greek, and I recently read a 2,000 yr old text that had the Lord's prayer written on Papyrus. Interestingly, I noted that when Christ taught us to pray, He said, "Father, sanctify your name." When He used the word "your" - it was not the formal use of the word, ''σας'', as you would use to address someone of importance or a stranger, but the informal use of the word, ''σου,'' as you would address a family member or close friend. And He did this throughout the fragment I read. That told me how close a relationship He wants us to have with the Lord - because, as His children, He indeed is not just our Father who is lofty and untouchable, but close and familiar as our Dad. As the saying goes, "Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad."
My dear friend thinks like you and says that God is ''not just our Father but so much more.''' But then I reminded her of Isaiah 9 - He shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting FATHER." In John 1 we read, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He the authority to be called the CHILDREN of God." Throughout we are told by Him that we are His children. And, as Paul noted, "The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. In Galatians 4:5, Paul says the Spirit is poured into our hearts, he himself crying, "Abba! Father!". But in Romans 8:15, he says we have received the Spirit, and we cry, "Abba! Father!" "
I suppose it is as your own spirit dictates. I. myself, am comfortable with calling my Heavenly Father "Dad." But only because I see that Christ, Himself, wants us to have that close, intimate, familial relationship with Him - the approachable, loving Father who should be as familiar to us as our own family members, as noted by the original text of the Lord's Prayer. This is not meant in anyway to take away His majesty or my reverence for Him. I am sorry if I seemed offensive to you in this regard and I appreciate your speaking your heart. Thank you.

As an Atheist historian, I have to disagree. My initial reaction was "bunkum" which is my initial reaction to all tales of "prophecy" and after a couple of minutes research a more considered reaction is "Bunkum! A majority of biblical scholars now consider Isaiah 40 -55 to be the work of a 6th Century BCE anonymous author - IE NOT prophecy, more contemporaneous commentary." But, in short "Bunkum!"
I'm not sure that predicting the reactions of Atheists to apologist nonsense is your strongest subject, but please keep critically analysing videos such as these - you may yet have a "lightbulb" moment yourself, Diolch and Noswith da, my friend

@@roydodds3693 respectfully Jesus and John the Baptist would disagree with you on the “two Isaiah issue”. They both quoted Isaiah before chapter 40 and after chapter 40. The key is when they both call him “the prophet” then quote what he said. Sir, you have to understand that the Jewish people will do anything to hide that Jesus is the Messiah. They even came up with a terrible two Isaiah claim. That also got debunked when the entire scroll of Isaiah was found in 1947.

So tell me why the Jewish scholars of 2000 plus years ago looked at Isaiah as a whole that he wrote it. The apostle Paul quoted passages from those chapters, the discipleship the gospels quoted from those chapters and Jesus fulfilled part of those chapters in His crucifixion. Maybe you as an historian needs to do a little more diligence in your study. Who knows you might become a believer like several other atheists that looked at the evidence. Blessings in your study!

The Bible is like a performance program to a stage play. The "Play-write" has EVERYTHING in the production planned out.
Act 1, Act 2, Act 3 and so forth. The Bible is His "program" to you.
There's no need for panic or confusion when you know WHERE you are in the presentation and what's coming up next.

The iron and clay, the whole statue, was struck by a rock cut out, not by human hands. Daniel 2:33-35. The iron is Rome, but the iron and clay represnt the intermingling of Rome with other societies (possibly but thats a whole other conversation lol). The rock that broke the statue is Jesus. Jesus' kingdom is ever growing and will fill the earth. His church and the gospel is ever increasing (colossians 1:3-6; also mentioned elsewhere). I agree that the Cyrus prophecy is pretty cool. I just don't get why people think the statue hasn't been broken already in Daniel. Yahweh is not losing and the darkness isn't growing. Do not confuse the light shining on the darkness to expose it with thinking the darkness is actually winning.

      ‭Acts 17:10-11 NASB1995‬
[10] The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. [11] Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

The "servant" of Isaiah chapter 53 is never associated with the term "messiah" (except in the case of king Cyrus). Isaiah defines for us who the servant is throughout the book, and his definition is invariable. The servant is a metaphor for ISRAEL or the faithful remnant of Israel (a plurality of people). The main theme of Isaiah is the remnant and their return from captivity to their homeland. In the entire book, "messiah" is only mentioned once, and this is in relationship to king Cyrus (e.g. Isaiah chapter 45:1).
We see who the "servant" is from, example, Is. 43:10:
"“You are my witnessES,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me." So the servant is a plurality of people ("witnesses"), not an individual. Another example is Is. 41:8-9:
"But thou, ISRAEL, art My SERVANT, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend. Whom I grasped from the ends of the earth, and from it nobles I called you, and I said to you, “You are My servant”; I chose you and I did not despise you."
I don't see any "atonement" mentioned or implied in Isaiah chapter 53. The servant doesn't atone for sin and is not a blood sacrifice

Great presentation. Among the most prophetic portions in the KJB is Matthew 13:24. The current world situation is exacerbated by "tares" which have multiplied to the point of saturation.
Instead of destroying them, God instructed his angels to leave the tares, collecting them at the harvest and consigning them to the fire. This I believe was a hint at what God's character is. The same character that leaves us for 2000 years without any word following the most spectacular visitation of Christ and all that it included. Then nothing.
God is a farmer of human souls. That was the point of our very creation. God's agenda/our agenda, and that is the story. The "tares" have overrun this world. They are what we are fighting, without a permanent remedy.

In Psalm 1, God says that he ungodly will not stand in judgement, and sinners not in the congregation of the righteous. With this teaching it makes sense. If judgement is only after the 1 000 years when Jesus reigns (I can't wait), then the ungodly will be gone after the tribulation? After Jesus reigns (seriously, I can't wait), there will be no more ungodly. Am I getting something wrong?

Why do people read the bible and find this...war? I don't understand. When i read it(all in one go at first) all i found was a God who worked tirelessly with people who continuelly turned away from him time after time despite their devotions and promises and tears. I saw a man Jesus who called God his loving father, who showed mercy and love, who forgave people seeing them as lost sheep. Who chastised the self righteous, teachers. Most importantly a man who never turned away from God. Right up until his murder he subjected himself to his father, seeing it as part of Gods purpose in showing love to ALL. Where are those sermons ? All those who love war will get war but they will find themselves onnthe other side.

Where in the Bible does it say, "the wrath of God on sinners forever?" My Bible says, "the wages of sin - is DEATH!"
Only human being are into torturing people. And what would be the purpose of torturing people forever? Because all it would produces is insanity on a massive scale and sin would still be before Elohim forever. The fire itself is "eternal" because it comes from Elohim - not the torture of human beings forever. What would be the purpose?
I'm sure you know by studying Hebrew that Elohim is all about function and purpose.
Angels can live forever, so I can easily imagine Elohim created humans to not be immortal like them. Again, "the wages of sin is death," unless you really don't believe your Bible. 🕊️

Please read Isaiah 13-14. The Pope commissioned Jerome to translate the Catholic Vulgate into Hebrew. Jerome added the Latin word Lucifer to the text. There may have been a grammar issue. None the less, a Greek man, Dante wrote a book that influenced people and brought a false narrative to Isaiah 14. When we actually read the two chapters it’s about the King of Babylon and his fall from his kingdom. It’s very clear even though some of the language is figurative.
Isaiah 14:4 (KJV) That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
Isaiah 14:11 (KJV) Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, [and] the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isaiah 14:12 (KJV) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isaiah 14:13 (KJV) For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, (his kingdom) I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: (He wanted to be like God) I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Lucifer means light bearer and is related to the planet Venus, the brightest star. There is a pagan relationship with Venus for pagan Rome.
Isaiah 13:1 (KJV) The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
The next verse is referring to the Meds and Persians. Gods uses other nations to bring other nations down.
Isaiah 13:4 (KJV) The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

If the ghost guy 'God' made an amazing prophecy which unequivocally came true (and wasn't simply the writings of a man or men around the time the thing actually happened), you'd think the fanfare would be a bit grander than a ten-minute, blatantly slanted video on UA-cam. And just for a laugh you can explain where the highly coded information on DNA came from. This is the bare basics you'd have to show before you can trash someone else's beliefs or worldview. Answer: Mankind, in general, is ignorant of God. Sure, we're spiritual and religious as a species, but generally we "cannot see the forest for the trees". We are curious creatures, We have intelligence without understanding, educated but blind to truth.
Second, Atheism and apathy play their part. The critic, the scorner, the scoffer and cynic dismiss what may be known and easily understood of God, because they lack simple faith and the basic ability for common sense, logic and reason. They cannot be convinced against their will, because their heart is self-centered, and their will is against God.
Thirdly, there are supernatural influences that hide the truth of God from mankind. We are all so easily distracted with the cares of this life, (Family, work, school, sports, sex, politics, movies, money, etc.) and are deceived into never having time for God. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and being too busy for God is a fool's way to get there.
But God is not a "ghost-guy" as you say. He's actually fairly easy to find if you'll take the time to seek him out.
      Hope that helps.

Not sure if its of any use or interest to you now, but Jesus saying 'this generation will no pass away until these things have happened' is not referring to the end of the world, but the end of the 'age'- specifcally the end of the age of jewish temple worship.
Essentially, Jesus's death and reassurrection triggered a new 'age', where we didnt need to sacrfice at the temple for atonement of sin anymore, because Jesus paid the price instead.
In Jewish tradition, an generation is 40 years, and Jesus spoke this prophecy approx AD 30. In AD 70 (40 years later), Jerusalem and the temple are destroyed, in a way which Josephus describes as apocalytic. It lines up very well with what Jesus says in Matthew 24.
Worth checking out the passage again in this context and seeing what you think. I also found David Chiltons book, 'Paradise Restored - a biblical theology of dominion' a helpful book. It disagrees a bit with this videos interpretation of the future events and suggests that most of revelation has alreasy taken place. Its an interesting perspective and currently one that im most comfortable with in my escatological understanding of scripture.

Here is the proper method for interpreting Daniel and Revelation. Rev. 1:1 gives us the clue. These prophecies were SIGNIFIED to John by the angel. We more commonly use the word SYMBOL. God tells us that "no prophecy of of private interpretation". That simply means that only God has the right to interpret these symbols. Thankfully He does just that throughout the Scriptures. For example Rev 13 depicts two "beasts". What is a beast in prophecy? Daniel 7:23-25 tells us that a beast is a "kingdom" or what we call an "empire". A smaller singular nation is represented by a "horn". This method is called "Historicism". That is the method that all of the Bible prophets used. God wrote history in advance and recorded it using symbols that can be decoded through Spirit led study.
I don't mean to be hurtful but this man is teaching many errors. He is correct about a few things but most of it stems from an interpretation method invented by a Jesuit priest in the 1500s. God is not happy with the violent Catholic Church who murdered around 100 million people for refusing to bow to the popes. In an attempt to muddy the waters and take the heat off the RCC this Jesuit priest invented "Futurism". Futurism takes the prophecies of Revelation and puts them all into a 7 year time period at the end of the world. This is why Revelation is so confusing to many. These prophecies are happening now but their eyes are on the future. I have so much to share.

Biblical scholars believe that the book of Isaiah was _completed_ AFTER the Babylonian exile ended, with the Jews' return to Israel, so probably around 500 BCE.

I’m with you every step of the way until you mention the tribulation. It has to come before the 2nd Coming.
The Jews rejected Christ and then the Gospel when they stoned Stephen. They can only be saved if they personally accept Christ, just like anybody else.
There is a big difference between literal Israel and spiritual Israel. Romans 9.

It did happen before the 2nd coming... Pre 70 AD. While John wrote Revelation. He was a partner in the tribulation. A few times in Revelation it clearly states 'things that must SHORTLY take place...'

@@jodybotha Yes, there was the time of trouble pre 70AD, there were the persecutions that happened under the Ceasars. There is tribulation before Christ comes again. But there is no tribulation after Christ comes. The righteous are all in Heaven, having received their reward. The wicked are all dead, awaiting their judgement after the 1000 years, as they must have all their cases tried.

It’s pretty easy to make prophecies line up across multiple languages and with plenty of time to edit. Self-fulfilling prophecy is what it is.
