I agree but not with corporal punishment which just creates fear/anger, resentment/revenge. Back in the day after it was banned, the worst deterrent that actually worked was after school detention doing homework under supervision. Just the threat of it would pull disrupters into line. However it began to be deemed impractical because it interfered with after school sports, music, dance, gymnastics, life saver, martial arts classes etc. Also parental pick up and/or help around the house routines. Then Lunch Time detention was successful but it had to go as it was soon deemed against child rights to deny them playing outdoors and exercise. ( Never mind the bullied child's rights or the rights of the kids in the classroom who want to focus on learning something just to pass and progress). Now kids are told to go stand outside, or they get suspended, which they love and even come back into the grounds to bully more kids then run off out of the grounds. The do gooders have 'cancelled' Chris Lilley because of the makeup he wears when portraying characters such as Jonah. He gets called a racist by the elite
I get what your saying but I always thought rich conservatives were always accepted as the 'elite' of society. Why are intelligent people who may be environmentalists or socially aware people who want a fairer and inclusive society for all....you know, those who may be accused of being "PC".....suddenly being called the 'elite' by conservatives? How has that concept been conveniently flipped? It beggars belief that people who just want a fairer, more 'inclusive' society are being considered 'elite'. Sure some get a bit 'preachy' at times but all they want is a fairer society FOR ALL people. Explain to me how that makes these people 'elitist'?
@@m2ad18 I just everyone treated equally and with respect. Simple. I certainly won't be wishing for conservative leadership as these are the real 'elite' and they want to keep it that way. That doesn't work for everybody.
Tongans are actually beautiful people as I grew up with a Tongan mate and the family treated me as family and the funny thing is that I am a red head ( ranger) but one warning don't mess with them because they will mess you up
Tongans, Fijians, Samoans ect are bloody big units usually but in my experience gentle giants one of my first friends in Australia was a huge black Fijian bloke who coped a lot of racism but never redacted another thing I was useless at school I couldn't learn from books but I turned out good having well paid jobs and a very high IQ we all lean in our own way
Another element to consider is the complications of having immigrant parents when placed in western education. I can relate to that first hand with a samoan parent
Chris Lilley has his controversies (including blackface) but I have always appreciated the social commentary that is demonstrated in most of his shows.
Q. What was the name that the Maori, Samoans and Tongans used to call members of their race who advocated kindness, pacifism, morality, emotional self-control, reason, intellectual pursuits, respect for the law and planning for the future? A. "Lunch"
Didn't really watch the show, probably because I was dealing with d*ckheads in real life for work at the time. Found it to be popular with said people though, which didn't surprise me either.
im not from Tonga but I was def a Jona,i found school incredibly boring ,my home life was awful and having that little bit of power at school I think was the reason I played up so much ,that and it was sooooooo boring ,I was expelled from a Catholic girls school for trying to Auction off the Eucharist at lunch time
No it’s not true Tongan and Islanders are some of the nicest people you will ever meet they are full of personality and often the life of the party. But don’t be on their bad side they are all family and they will stick up for their own against anyone So no it’s not true unless you cause it to be and if you are stupid enough to do that just run to the airport because you have no chance 🤷🏻♀️
@@Mpmpmpmmppmpmpmp He got cancelled in America because of "Angry Boys".....which was pretty bad, had way too much black face for the US's tolerance and didn't paint those he was portraying in a very positive light. It was pretty offensive and way worse than any of his previous series....which I agree, were genius. I do think that black face can at times be offensive but I also agree that some people take their reactions too far and go for 'blanket bans' of anything black face without seeing the context in which this phenomena is portrayed. It can sometimes be positive or just plain funny without being offensive to those it's portraying. By all accounts, Tongans thought Jonah was hilarious. Should white people be deciding what is offensive for coloured people? Maybe we should just asked them....and respect whatever they say.
Often it’s low self esteem driven and unless it’s dealt with when they are young they become an anti social adult that reminds you of the school yard when they are in their 50’s or older. They are always innocent and lie and manipulate their way through life. Established patterns from an early age. Very sad for them and those that fall prey to their behaviour. Well done. Authentic.
What cracked me up most was the student welfare guy….l have known SO many people like that, so desperate to help, so deeply believing kids are be inherently good…their poor guardian angels must be in therapy🤣
This guy isn't funny. Not in any role. He makes fun of the disabled, and this encourages kids to be shits. Also, this right here is why some people think Australians are racist. And I'm an old white man. Offensive.
I love Chris Lilley and all his characters. Unfortunately, the lefties have tried to cancel Jonah, and OMG, you NEVER say that you like Chris or Jonah... they'll have your guts for garters!! Cultural appropriation and racism, don't you know :(
@@RobReacts1 you'd be one in a million then! The lefties out here bay for his blood for the 'blackface' and other racial stuff, and making fun of 'disadvantaged' types in society. I love him. Ppl just don't have a sense of humour any more.
After seeing a couple of his shows it seemed to me that his thing was mocking outsiders, the weak, the marginalised. I'm not comfortable with the unfortunate being constantly caricatured in the name of humor. And his blackface characters were at least insensitive and unwise. Don't know i'd call his stuff racist, as some have, but I think it is certainly popular with racists.
Not even remotely trueb(also not remotely fun, sorry). A small minority of virtue signalling whinge bags complained and the unfortunate result is (for now) cancellation. But the show and his array of brilliant characters is all over UA-cam and the DVDS still sell and get watched.

@@m2ad18 I just everyone treated equally and with respect. Simple. I certainly won't be wishing for conservative leadership as these are the real 'elite' and they want to keep it that way. That doesn't work for everybody.
@@oldmuso586he is showing up racism with his satire
But some teachers never grew up either !!
What are some of the complications of that more specifically if you don't mind me asking?!
Chris Lilley has his controversies (including blackface) but I have always appreciated the social commentary that is demonstrated in most of his shows.
It's not that controversial, there were movies made called white chicks, black men pretending to be white women, same thing.
Q. What was the name that the Maori, Samoans and Tongans used to call members of their race who advocated kindness, pacifism, morality, emotional self-control, reason, intellectual pursuits, respect for the law and planning for the future?
A. "Lunch"
I prefer his earlier, funnier work.
Rob you got to watch Houso' but be prepared .
Houso’s sucks IMO, Fat Pizza was much better.
@@lonnie224 yeah your right i got them mixed up .
Didn't really watch the show, probably because I was dealing with d*ckheads in real life for work at the time. Found it to be popular with said people though, which didn't surprise me either.
His show has been another victim of cancel culture.
The like was for your comment, not that the cancel culture vultures got the show cancelled!
You have to react to "jaime" now
You need to watch a New Zealand TV Series "Seven Periods with Mr Gornsby" far better than this.
It's REALLY not. New Zealanders aren't funny.
*Exception Flight of the Conchords
im not from Tonga but I was def a Jona,i found school incredibly boring ,my home life was awful and having that little bit of power at school I think was the reason I played up so much ,that and it was sooooooo boring ,I was expelled from a Catholic girls school for trying to Auction off the Eucharist at lunch time
haha! But how has your life turned out since?
@@RobReacts1 well its been incurably interesting
Tonga is pronounced with a soft g
No it’s not true Tongan and Islanders are some of the nicest people you will ever meet they are full of personality and often the life of the party. But don’t be on their bad side they are all family and they will stick up for their own against anyone
So no it’s not true unless you cause it to be and if you are stupid enough to do that just run to the airport because you have no chance 🤷🏻♀️
Sad that Lilley has been "cancelled" due to PC culture
But he played characters from all different ethnicities and sex's
@@RobReacts1 yeah that’s why, it’s sad to see. Once he became popular in America he got canceled
Tong-a NOT Ton-ga.
Dic/\Tation
This got banned for being rascist in Oz. Shame Chris Lilly is brilliant. I think I would have been on the time out desk if we’d have had one.
He clearly isn't racist though. He portrays people from all ethnicities and walks of life
@@RobReacts1 but he did Brown Skin for the character Jonah and thats an automatic fail for the woke crowd.
Well done. Authentic.
😁😂🤣😃😄😅👍
Can you believe this show was cancelled by cancel culture ?!, so stupid, we are not allowed to have a sense of humour anymore.
What cracked me up most was the student welfare guy….l have known SO many people like that, so desperate to help, so deeply believing kids are be inherently good…their poor guardian angels must be in therapy🤣
exactly. Its so acurate that people can relate!
@@RobReacts1 it’s perfect. I was iffy about Chris Lilley to start with but this is a scream🤣
It's in the excellent acting.
This guy isn't funny. Not in any role. He makes fun of the disabled, and this encourages kids to be shits. Also, this right here is why some people think Australians are racist. And I'm an old white man. Offensive.
Erm, I'm not sure. I have always found him funny because his character, although sometimes a bit whacky, are relateable
There are better to look at, considering the whole blackface thing that went along with this.
Get a sense of humour.
@@mowgli27 i have one, and have no problem with this.
But he will court all of the sjw on yt.
@@mowgli27 besides, even if I don't like this, just because I find different things funny does not mean I don't have a sense of humour.
I'm all for comedy and taking the piss but this could've been done without the blackface. It's super offensive!
Have you seen his character smouse? That's real black face this is more oompa loompa face.
I love Chris Lilley and all his characters. Unfortunately, the lefties have tried to cancel Jonah, and OMG, you NEVER say that you like Chris or Jonah... they'll have your guts for garters!! Cultural appropriation and racism, don't you know :(
Erm, im a lefty and i think he is great....
Well said! Totally agree.
Fun fact most Aussie's can't stand this dude...Especially the blackface character.
Not even remotely trueb(also not remotely fun, sorry). A small minority of virtue signalling whinge bags complained and the unfortunate result is (for now) cancellation. But the show and his array of brilliant characters is all over UA-cam and the DVDS still sell and get watched.
Such a problematic comedian. I’m not a fan ngl.
