Agent Orange was an herbicide that the U.S. military used during the Vietnam War. Exposure to Agent Orange is associated with a number of medical conditions, some of which are serious.
The Department of Veterans Affairs lists these conditions as presumptive. This means that veterans who meet certain eligibility criteria are automatically eligible for VA disability benefits.

The new toxic exposure bill (Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022) that was signed recently will broaden presumptions for Agent Orange exposure in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Guam, American Samoa, and Johnston Atoll! This is HUGE NEWS for thousands of Vietnam vets who were stationed outside of Vietnam but were still “toxic-exposed” to Agent Orange.

I was stationed in South Vietnam 1968 1969 at three bases Conthein Camlo and Quang Tri. I have had two cancer attacks internal and several skin cancer attacks or outbreaks in other words both skin and inside my body. I applied and was rejected and I appealed the decision rejecting my claims for many years. The V A still denied my claims. In my claims I stated that I was exposed by direct contact from being sprayed and by drinking water from watersheds following the area beeing sprayed and by breathing the air after it mixed with the air during night time when moisture rises into the night air. The odor was very strong in the night time when the dew rises during night time. Long story I claimed that I was exposed in three ways. Anyone who was in a freshly sprayed area at night time will totally know what I'm referring too. One thing that amazed me about the VA they gave everyone with diabetes an annuity. The amazing thing about this was it didn't matter if the veteran had family history with diabetes? I found that to be very odd?
I was at Udorn RTAFB 1972-1973. Diagnosed with prostate cancer and diabetes 2021. Diagnosed either hypertension before 1980x I filed under the Pact Act 7 Aug 2023 and was rated 100% for prostate cancer, 20% for diabetes and 0% for hypertension. VA set effective date for hypertension as 10 Aug 2022 but cancer and diabetes as 7 Aug 2023. Bottom line, no back pay! Should I file for reveiw?
The end date for Thailand in June 1976 is because that is when the last of the U.S. military left after the Thai government shut down our operations there. I was at Ramasun Station, Thailand from Dec 74 - Mar 76 and AO was being used while I was there to keep our antenna field and operations compound free of vegetation. I am currently receiving 40 % V.A. disability and 40% Combat Related Special Compensation from the USAF for prostate cancer and diabetes type II from AO exposure. The V.A. admitted AO was being used on my base while I was there and I was approved in 2017 and was not working near the perimeter, I was an intelligence analyst working next the antenna field in the operations compound which where all free of vegetation and I never saw anyone cutting grass on this base which was located in a tropical climate.

I have watched at least a dozen videos trying to get information on the Pact Act and Agent Orange with respect to Thailand veterans and all I get is stuff I already know. But here's a guy who actually provides answers. The story is if you apply within the first year, it's retroactive to when the act was passed, well, not exactly, if you don't meet certain conditions, it's retroactive to October 1, 2022. So now I know that the VA did not underpay me, it just didn't start until October, not August as we were all led to believe.
I've not finished watching yet, but a second issue that needs to be addressed is the refunding of co-pays on prescriptions which would now be and retroactively be covered under presumptive Agent Orange exposure.
Regardless of whether that's in here or not, this guy is the most informative I've found on UA-cam.
They continued to work on the old sprayer planes in Thailand up 1976. Friend of mine gets 100% who was an AF aircraft mechanic, especially the Fairchild.

i would file if i was at johnston atoll any time after agent orange was first stored there. even after the cutoff date.
even after they burned all the agent orange. the area that the leaking barrels of agent orange was stored is still contamanated to this day and this got into the waters around the atoll. and into the islands water distallion plant.
the agent orange stored on johnston atoll was conenteated and a lot stronger then what was sprayed in vietnam.

If higher level review agreed that a duty to assist error was made and returned the previous decision for correction. Does the veteran have to do a supplemental claim for this or does the VA automatically fix the duty to assist error??
I was stationed at Johnston Atoll between December 1974 to December 1975 serving with Det 2 of the 1957th Comm Gp (USAF). I have a lot of records from my time there but very few mention Johnston Atoll by name, most referring only to Det 2, 1957th Comm Gp. I cannot seem to find any information on what the different military units were that were stationed there during the time that Agent Orange was stored there.
Is that information available somewhere?
The Thailand veterans remained in Thailand long after the Republic of Vietnam had fallen, thus the longer period of presumptive-exposure coverage.

If you are the dependent wife of a Vietnam Vet, who died of Agent Orange. Can the spouse obtain benefits?
Yes!! You will only get a stipend. No other benefits. The stipend does have a yearly cost of living increase of about $300.
Yes, I am not sure if you need medical records if they were not diagnosed before they died. My husband had Parkinsons symptoms, would not go to a doctor and then shot himself.
It is posssible that the "Presumption" of exposure may be enough to qualify if you can document that they were in a job and place where they were bound to be exposed. The PACT Act is so new that it still needs to be clearly interpreted. Applications will begin to be reviewed in January 2023. You can qualify for many benefits including monthly payments if you have the documents that they request.
My husband die due to a o. Vietnam. We file for benigits 2year before he die, had mult surgeries .i do get dic. Never had any other benefits . Am i able to get more benifis? I care alone for him . Had spinal surgeries. Thank you !!!
Do you think they will add Okinawa? I was stationed in the ammo dump at Camp Schwab in 91-92. We burned trash regularly and talk of agent orange in okinawa was common from okinawan civilians. Trucks sprayed our base regularly and our windows were alway open due to the heat and humidity. This was before they built the airconditioned barracks. I have asthma and also get occasional bronchitis flares

If a veteran has or had been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer due to exposure of AO in Thailand and filed claim with VA back in 2009 but was denied, how does the Veteran refile and would the effective date of back pay be from 2009. If not what date would be used.
You can appeal to apply again under the new guidelines and your payments will be retroactive to the date that you first applied. I believe.
Definitely reapply, but the retroactive date will be the passage of the Pact Act or October 1, 2022, if you have it in within the next few days.

My father has 100 percent agent orange disability. I was told by him to file as I should be able to get the healthcare help for all my health issues in regards to agent orange.
1. What Illnesses do I need to be diagnosed with?
2. What type of doctors need to give which diagnosis?

The Hmong SGU and their families were the one whom suffered the most. Many of them are dying in the USA Today. Are they covered by the PACT Act the president signed into law?
The reason for June 30, 1976 was my unit the 7th RRFS was the last unit to leave Thailand. I left in March 1976.

I enlisted in the US Army in May of 1980 (delayed entry) and then left for basic training in June of 1980. End date for the PACT Act is July of 1980. I"m from Guam! I do have some of the illnesses mentioned under the PACT Act. Do I qualify to apply?
Was your entry to active duty/date inducted before July 1980? If not, then fat chance.
Being from Guam doesn't qualify you, however, delayed entry usually means inactive military reserve. So, if you were technically in the military reserve and in Guam, you might be able to pull it off with a smart advocate.

Unfortunately the PACT Act only mentions that VA will have an epidemiological study done for Fort McClellan. No word on presumptions or benefits being awarded.
It's because U-Tapao AB officially closed on 30 June 1976! I've lived in Thailand for the last 40 years and worked on U-Tapao from 1970-71 USAF 1968-72 They sprayed that crap along the flightline to kill the bushes. I worked in the ECM shop on B-52D model aircraft.
I'm 78 years old I have everything that agent orange can give you they're just now getting around to probably taking me from 70% to 100%. The thing that is so upsetting is that since I'm not Camp Lejeune the 1969 and back pay me

The amazing thing about the VA is the just recognized bladder cancer but will not discuss or recognize kidney cancer! So where do the kidneys empty into ?? Makes me wonder just how Agent Orange could get into the bladder??
I knew a person who lost a Testical due to Testicular Cancer which he got from being sprayed in the jungle with Agent Orange in Vietnam, his wife wrote a book on it which the Government blocked it from being published that was in the 80's that she told me about that the Government didn't want the Public to know what they had done, it's like when they sprayed the West Coast with Anthrax to see the effect it would have on people it's no wonder why so many People are getting Cancer
Because of the routinely demonstrated incompetence of the VA Health providers, I learned years ago to never tell any VA staffer or doctor about any medical medical concern that I didn't trust them to handle! You could not imagine the frequency of incidents where the VA screwed up! It seems like they only higher the losers in the medical industry! If you get treated by someone competent, they get burned out fast and move back into conventional medicine. For these reasons, the my personal medical records would not be completely accurate! I would be dead or infected with AIDS if I had allowed the Miami VA to treat some of my issues!

I WALKED the perimeter of Takhli at 3am 7 days a week, and watched the 56000lb tank truck spray bars spray the ground that had almost nothing growing ~300+ ft or more to jungle!!
And a JEEP followed with gunner on a . 50cal..... FACT.
IN ADDITION to that fact, Takhli was storage area for hundreds of barrels of defoliant!!! Fact.....

If you really go down the rabbit hole about Guam you will see why it is included!
They also decontaminated all aircraft with tce diluted with water.
They also decontaminated the ships used at Johnson Atoll at Guam.
There were a 1000 flights a day during the Nam war.
I’ve been disabled from Lejeune since 2013 and researched it extensively and I can tell you
Guam could be more contaminated than Lejeune.
Guam was a unincorporated part of US territory.
So incredibly horrible.

Well did you meet the requirements like dates and specific units? This is all on the VA website.
Why wasn't Clark Air Force Base Philippines 1973-1974 placed on the water contaminated list with Guam I was station at Clark diagnosed with leukemia but the VA want be too prove riding on a C-123 from Taiwan my first duty assignment for ninety days the 374th tactical wing was relocated to the Philippines....At issue: the contaminated water discussed in along article in Stars and Strip military paper..Also I've other article from other publish articles that's discusses contaminated water at Clark....The VA is processing my leukemia claim under the Pact Act but want other evidence concerning Agent Orange...It doesn't make a lot of sense...Therefore I'm sending another Congressnal to Senator Cornyn office and CC to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Washington DC...every move is about delay....

File Supplement Form 22295 I think check the form #. I resubmitted a claim as a Blue Water Navy, and was awarded with my private Doctors Paperwork 100%. Also, I was awarded back pay for 5 years. JUST FILE GET A GOOD VSO.

I agree Peter. The hosts BEFORE going OTA (on the air) should have 1) familiarized themselves with the entire subject; and 2) assume none of us know the acronyms, terminology, names, words, etc., and briefly side note to explain what those mean.
Personally, I don't like it when a host repeatedly says he or she doesn't know what something is (e.g., a disease) or how to pronounce a medical term.
Why disagree on Guam?(agent orange) It was used there in those times in its various forms.
