I hope you are excited about your first flight experience like I did few years back. I believe knowing the airport & airline procedures and guidelines beforehand and preparing accordingly will make your flying experience seamless and enjoyable.
1. Preparation at home
a) Take a government issued ID card along with air ticket which needs to be shown to the security personal for airport entry.
b) Make sure your baggage weight did not exceed the baggage allowance provided in the air ticket as excess weights are chargeable and expensive usually.
c) Avoid sharp items like scissors, blades etc. and liquids in your hand baggage as these are not allowed to be carried inside the aircraft. But these items are allowed to be kept in your check-in baggage if any.
d) Pack a small snack if there is no complimentary meal in the airline you are travelling. Generally, Air India and Jet Airways provides complimentary meals to all passengers whereas you need to either pre-book your meal or buy in-flight in carriers like Indigo, Spice jet, Go Air etc.
2. Timings
Usually, check-in counters will open 2 hours before departure for domestic flights. It is recommended to be in the airport at least 1.5 hours before departure being your first flight. Because the crowd and waiting time in check-in counters and security check point varies time to time.
3. Airport Entry
Some domestic flights may be operated out of International terminal and hence it is very important to know the terminal before your reach the airport. For example, Air India and Jet Airways operates out of International terminal in Mumbai Airport which is bit away from domestic terminal.
Please approach the appropriate terminal and entry gate number as per the details provided in the air ticket. If the entry gate number is not available in the ticket, then lookout for signs displayed where you can see the gate to be used for your airline.
4. Baggage scanning
In some airports, the check-in baggage needs to be scanned by the airline staff before you proceed to check-in counter. Mostly I have seen it in Chennai, Pune and sometimes in Mumbai airport.
So make sure you get your baggage scanned before your proceed to check-in counter because you will be directed to this process by the check-in counter staff if they done find the sticker fixed by the scanning staff.
5. Check in procedure
Check in procedure is very simple where you need to place your check in luggage in the luggage belt and handover your ticket and ID proof to the check-in counter staff. Also feel free to inform if you have any seat preference. I remember I have asked for window seat during my first flight journey.
After processing, the check-in counter staff will issue the boarding pass to you and may inform you the boarding gate number and boarding time which you can also find it in the boarding pass.
Make sure you get a hand baggage tag and fix it in your hand baggage for security stamping.
6. Security Check
Security check is a process to make sure that you and your hand baggage did not contain any prohibited items.
a) Take out your laptop from the hand luggage if you have any as it needs to be placed in a separate tray in the scanning machine.
b) Also keep your belongings like wallet, mobile phone, watch, belt, coins if any, pen etc either in your hand luggage or in the laptop tray and make sure you are free from metal before your walk through the metal detector for frisking process.
c) You don't want to remove your ornaments if any as they recognize it and ignore during the frisking process in general unlike you have to be 100% metal free in foreign airports.
d) After all the above steps, make sure your boarding card is stamped by the frisking security personal and your hand luggage by the luggage scanning security as they will be checked by an another security person when you are boarding the aircraft.
7. Boarding Process
Just reach your boarding gate, sit and chill until they start the boarding. Once boarding started, please proceed to board as per the instruction given by the airline staff. Most cases, privilege members, business class if available, senior citizens, women with kids will given priority followed by others as per the seat numbers.
8. In flight procedures
The flight attendants will explain the emergency procedures and will give you the necessary instructions as and when necessary. In general, the seat belt must be fastened, window shield must be open, seats to be in upright position, food tray must be stacked and electronic devices must be switched off during take off and landing.
Feel free to push the flight attendant call button in case of any need like water or you have any questions.
9. Arrival & Exit
Proceed to the respective belt number for baggage collection and once done you you are ready to exit the airport!

I booked my ticket in madurai airport for Indigo flight but they printed my name with spelling mistake will it be problem when i go for getting boarding ticket I asked at that time itself but she said it will not be a problem but i am afraid since it is my first flight
