"Doom" achieved a negative perception because of the shooting at Columbine High School, Steven King books are considered works of literary art (I am genuinely impressed with his 1983 novel "Christine" as it was adapted into a major motion picture and served as the creative inspiration for Carrie Underwood when she released the music video for her 2013 song "Two Black Cadillacs.") While the car in "Christine" was a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury; the car that Carrie Underwood drove in the music video for "Two Black Cadillacs" was a black 1964 Cadillac DeVille. But all the same I'll just copy and paste the previous answer. Way back in the day the left Wingers used to criticize the religious right by saying. These people take their Authority from a book that says the Earth is flat.. Lol! It wasn't exactly uncommon to hear that argument even back before the 90s when Atheism was actually a fight. And because you had the Religious right on one side. It basically forced a lot of Scientists and Atheist to side with the left for no other reason then at the time they made more sense. Because the left and the scientists and atheists generally had a mutual disdain for religion in general. The left wing didn't like religion because they had made their own God out of Marxism. AKA worship of the government. And Scientists and Atheist generally didn't care for religion because it seemed like complete BS that was holding back Society and Freedom of Choice. So along the way occasionally pointing out that these people believed in a flat Earth if they truly believe their Bible.. Debate Tactical Gold. Things like this were what actually what conceived what would become eventually the Proto version of a meme about the Flat Earth movement. And then as a protest against the left Wingers and atheist. What would be considered the version of internet trolls of the past. Basically pre internet trolls. Just started rolling with it to Mess with the other side. Or any side for the entertainment of it. And because there's money to made in controversy. There's always somebody asking for donations to prove someone else wrong. That's where you see the snake oil salesman come out of the woodwork proclaiming the Earth is flat. Lol! But the initial spark that started it all was a joke that the left Wingers and Atheist would say against the Religious Right. And in the long run. The left Wingers use the legitimate nut jobs. And the paid hacks as a way to distinguish that they were more intelligent than the Religious Right. Because when it comes to running a budget they couldn't claim that. But when it comes to making entertaining smear peace. That worked great. This is just like Jack with the gaming. You get some useful idiots to make a controversy so you can have the controlled opposition. Every once in awhile in society they roll out one of these people or groups as a distraction. And to give legitimacy to the current power structure. The controversy is a distraction either to make them seem more powerful. Or make you not notice what's going on. Notice how Flat Earth movement happened around the same time Obama was around in office.. And the leftover hangover of War on Terror during Obama era was easier to ignore with flat Earth idiots around. But then Flat Earth and people's interest on the war on terror started to fade away when the race Consciousness stuff happened around Tray Von Martin. you can usually time date these movements and distractions if you look at it from the long perspective. Anyhow you have a good day.. And try not to be such an NPC.
It would be crap and only applies to a small audience, how long did it take some basic meme channel like dolan to get popular and have his stuff posted around?

As long as we don't get an episode of "Absolute Mad Lads" wherein Count Dankula profiles Timothy McVeigh; the Oklahoma City bomber. Timothy McVeigh is the definition of evil because he killed 168 people; nineteen of whom were children. I would however be interested if Count Dankula profiles Clara Harris and Susan Wright. Clara Harris is also known as the Driller Killer because she once worked in the Dentistry profession and killed her lying cheating son of a bitch husband David Harris by running him over three times with her Mercedes-Benz in the parking lot of the Nassau Bay Hilton Hotel in July of 2002. Despite having been sentenced to twenty years in prison for murdering David; Clara was released from prison in 2018, after serving fifteen of the twenty years. Susan Wright is also known as the Blue-eyed Butcher because she slaughtered her abusive cheating drug addicted son of a bitch husband Jeff Wright by tying him to their bed, stabbing him 193 times and burying his body in the backyard of their Houston area home in January of 2003. During the trial of Susan Wright; prosecutor Kelly Siegler reenacted the stabbing of Jeff Wright using the Wrights bed for the reenactment, bloodstained mattress and all. Kelly portrayed Susan and a male colleague of hers portrayed Jeff. Though what bewildered me is when Kelly Siegler said that because Susan Wright once worked as a topless dancer her emotions in court were insincere. How does a person's job dictate the sincerity of their emotions? Kelly painted Susan Wright as an unrepentant bloodthirsty psychopath who committed the murder of Jeff Wright because of his life insurance policy. The courts sentenced Susan to twenty-five years in prison; but Susan's sentence was reduced to twenty years on appeal due to Susan's attorneys providing ineffective counsel. During the appeal; a former fiancée of Jeff Wright by the name of Misty McMichael testified that Jeff had abused her during their relationship. In addition; an autopsy of Jeff Wright revealed that he was heavily addicted to cocaine and steroids which made him a rampaging monster. During the autopsy; the coroner discovered that Jeff's body hadn't metabolized all of the cocaine he had snorted before he died. In January of this year; Susan was released from prison after serving only sixteen years of her prison sentence.

The 90s Christian pushback against Doom is especially hilarious considering you're fighting against Hell in the game
If Jack was forced to experience the Christianity of 1000 years ago, he would be aghast and attempt to censor it. Christians of the past would've thought Doom was fucking awesome, and anyone who didn't was a heretic and/or pussy. Emphasis on "and."
I got to play a little devil's advocate here, the Christian bible says that Christians are not supposed to even think of Satan or the devil so by portraying a character killing demons, it probably fueled a bit of their hatred for Doom, that and the violence. However, banning Doom was never really about adhering to christian principles, it was about censoring something and relishing in the superficial sense of power that it gave you.

And the leftover hangover of War on Terror during Obama era was easier to ignore with flat Earth idiots around.

its sad to say but i long for the days of Jack Thompson vs the trash we have to put up with today
Yeah, back in those days, the far right lunatics like Jack Thompson were laughed at by their superiors and by the majority of society. Nowadays, with the far left acting like the lunatics, they ARE the government; they are the people controlling culture and society; they are the media; they're the people making decisions that impact the lives of many; and they're at least half of the US population. Nowadays, the 'extreme nut jobs' aren't just a fringe element that nobody takes seriously. 'Extreme nut job' has become like 'mainstream' these days. It sucks.
I miss the 90s too.

personally I think Jack was a genius form of advertisement for the gaming industry. could have even been away for Hollywood to attack the gaming industry initially. Either way the gaming industry got bigger because of the controversy.
The Golden Age of Gaming.
The situation with Jack is really no different than the scalper scapegoat that the current consoles are using. And At some point people have to realize Jack was basically either paid by Hollywood or the gaming industry or both.
Hollywood didn't like the competition that the gaming industry was bringing in and the late 80s early 90s. In fact they still don't like it.
The gaming industry initially may have disliked Jack for his attacks on the gaming industry.
But his attacks on the gaming Industries just caused more people to purchase the games. so most people would view him as a useful idiot.
As were any businessman worth their salt would realize Jack was most likely paid by some group to destroy another. and another group because controversy equals more game sales.
Both Hollywood and overall leftist entertainment as well as the Gaming Community have never really cared for the religious right.
So just at the right time a crazy idiot magically comes along to fulfill a stereotype that ends up making both Industries more profitable.
Side Note. This is why if you really know the background most people realize that the Flat Earth movement was actually started by the Liberals.
I'm a teacher and I have to say that I agree with Jack. Games can make children do terrible things.
The amount of times I've had to tell kids to sit the fuck down because they're Fortnite dancing is fucking depressing.
And this is why consoles like PS2 make you violent folks. I remember back in April 9, 2018, I had this teacher named Ms Moran back when i was 11-12 years old back in Baldwin School and at age 18 in senior high I wasn't doing my school work, i was screwing around on the school laptops instead of my math and even when she knew i was doing without even looking at the screen, She said she was gonna write me up for no reason and then i totally lost my cool, started yelling my teacher telling her shes the one who should be written up and then started throwing a pencil across the classroom and started kicking chairs around. And then when my dad went to go pick me up while talking to my dean teacher, Out of nowhere i started hitting my dean teacher and boy was my dad pissed as fuck when he started driving me home? My dad was SO SO pissed off that day, he called me a bitch and a motherfucker and said Fuck you to me so many times and even told me to stay out of his life because i was too aggressive. He even started blaming GTA at me and said i was acting like the character and then he said he was gonna crack my games in half. Not only that, If he saw me on my PC, He said along the lines with "Bitch if i ever see you on that PC, I'll walk right in with a yellow hammer and smash that bitch!"
This comment literally made me choke 😂😂😂😂

Good to see my admirals share my opinions
So in the end, Jack didn't want to donate, and his excuse was "It's just a prank bro."
