    Following in the tyre tracks of the phenomenally successful XC90 was always going to be a daunting task, but when Volvo decided on a smaller SUV model to complement its seven-seat cash cow, few initially realised quite what a natural fit the XC60 would prove. Perhaps the greatest compliment you can pay the XC60 is that it really makes you ask some hard questions about whether you really need the added space and the added cost of an XC90 when there's such a good vehicle in the line up. Used buyers are asking the same question and many of them see no need to go any bigger than the slick '60.
    Can we really class a 1,825kg car measuring 4,628mm in length and 1,891mm in width as a 'compact' 4x4? Its British designer Steve Mattin says we can. The suspension of disbelief is made easier by the way the XC60's exterior styling disguises its bulk. Imagine an XC90 that's been on a hot wash cycle for a couple of hours and that's what the XC60 resembles; shrunken slightly, a little chamfered in its edging but recognisably a Volvo product and one that the company claim has turned up the visual volume. The grille is a little bolder, the car's 'shoulders' more distinctive, especially when viewed from the rear.
    There's only room for five but at least the rear seats are higher than the front pair to give better visibility for children and the two outer seats in the back can be specified with two-stage booster cushions. The rear passenger compartment is roomy and a couple of six footers would be comfortable here over a long trip. The load opening at the back is also the widest amongst the XC60's direct competition, opening to reveal a 655-litre capacity. As in the XC70, the rear seat is a three-piece affair that folds 40-20-40, with each section capable of folding down completely flat to ultimately create a 1455-litre carrying space. Under the boot floor, there's a secure storage area that can't be opened without the tailgate being lifted, making it a great place to keep valuable items safe when the car's parked.

    I've got a 2012 D5 with 215 BHP, fantastic car. Practical, safe, and a pleasure to drive, especially on long journeys.
    I am surprised that Volvo didn't fit rear cameras as standard though.

    Have a 2013 D4 over 8 months now. The best car I've ever had. No issues over 15.000 KM. I drove longest in one direction over 1250 KM. Powerful, comfortable, spacious. Simply lovely.

      Volvo starts to cost after four years. That’s when all the maintenance needs changing.

    I have a D5 and auto 2012 model year. Great car but with 112000 miles a major fault occurred. Total brake failure as a result of failed deals in the master cylinder split the servo to invest all the brake fluid. Luckily the car was parked and the brake warning lights illuminated when I started it. Strangely it had a fluid renewal only.2000 miles earlier.

      Your ready for maintenance of water pump replacement kit and belt. About $1100.00.

    The flap that folds out of the boot floor is to secure bags of shopping near to the tailgate so you can reach them easily and they don't roll around.

    I bought mine new in 2014 brand new, it broke down on way home with a fuel pump problem, it’s only done 45,000 now, last year I had too have both front abs sensors changed coz abs light came on, also both rear brake discs and pads , it’s got full Volvo service history, had too have software updates coz warning lights were come on when they liked, buy a Honda or Toyota guys I don’t trust mine on long journeys

      Get rid of it get a Toyota. Volvo isn’t even in the top ten.

    Correction: Flagship is closer to 325HP, not just 285 on a T6 R Design Polestar.

    i just bought a used one for 1k. yes, it needs brakes and possibly coil pack replacement, and a battery. its either this, my clapped out 2011 f150 eco boost, or paying just under 1k a month for a new vehicle. personally, i think at 1k dollars, its worth it.

    Hello, do anyone know is this car better than Audi Q5 ? Thanks

    • @soulkiss7297
      @soulkiss7297 6 місяців тому

      depends on your priorities. if it's sportiness and good looks you're looking for go for audi. safety and comfort is more on the volvo side i'd say

      I got a Q5 and yes just like the guy here said sportiness looks both in and out is Audi but if you want less fuel consumption higher safety and more practical car all around Volvo is the one to go hell I'm even considering of getting one too ofc while keeping the Q5

    • @EmilieSagae
      @EmilieSagae 3 місяці тому

      The Q5 allegedly has a very poor reliability record. I would go for the Volvo

    I owned xc60 strait 6 cylinder twin turbo now.SUV is great,but to replace blower fan motor on xc60 t6, it is virtually impossible.Volvo failed,it is horrible designed. It takes 10 hours to replace instead one hour
