- Frutiger Aero is a Design Aesthetic used from 2004 to 2013,
Its hallmarks are Gloss, Nature, Water and Skeuomorphism.
Its really Beautiful and i miss it alot.
My kids will never get it theyre gonna look at my Iphone with the Windows Vista Swag and call me Old for clinging to the past.
Man, its never coming back is it?

On topic of the Flat Design nightmare. If you would know current german architecture trends: This gets worse in Architecture. There, some beautiful old buildings got torn down and replaced with ...Cubes. No joke. Most of new buildings built in germany nowadays look like Cubes. Apparently, the Borg overtook germanies architects. lool

my theory for why egerythong was ao shiny was to show of the high definition these new comouters could take because shiny and water = high deft cause resolution or something like that

Frutiger Aero was inspired by Bauhaus and Bauhaus is already a form of Minimalism. (Although most of the Protagonists of the Frutiger Aero era were quite pretentious about that. They acted as if apple invented functionalist design in Computers. No. Lol. Even the grey windows boxes were designed with functionalist principles.)
One secret: I was a design student in the Frutiger era. The minimalist nightmare was a catastrophe in the making. Even then. Many of the professors pushed minimalism to an extreme. (While others called that BS and said good design is not minimalist.) There were many professors with an extremely bad influence in hindsight.
Todays flat design hell is the product of some idiot professors seeing some principles which worked well in the Frutiger era and completely overemphasizing them afterwards, until it became too much.
