    What Mouse is trying to say is that in Japanese the "U" vowel is often dropped when Romanizing it. For example the surname "Waltfeld" is Romanized as "WA-RU-TO-FE-RU-TO". Hence why Henya keeps moving the U and R around and why she adds L.

    • @kylemsguy_

      and of course the reason she adds L is because R and L are the same in Japanese

    This reminds me of a time my buddy spent about as long trying to spell Gary Busey. Some highlights being Gary Bussy, Gary Busy, Gary Beanician, Garuly Bussieccy, and Gary Busney

    Henya practically grew up in the states and has an American father. I know she quit English in order to more easily learn Japanese when she moved back to Japan with her mother after the divorce, but...how much of this is her character I wonder? Like Ironmouse has often stated, her vtuber persona/character is a bit different from her everyday personality.

      This one I’m pretty sure is a bit. And of course her personality is different everyday, everyone’s personality is different in different social contexts, and they’re performers on top of the whole online/IRL thing.

      i don't get why people get so fixated on the "REAL" personality. bruh they're performing a character, if it's entertaining leave it at that. it's like people trying to debunk how magicians do their magic tricks, who cares? at the end of the day people had fun in the stream and liked the bit. looking to deep at vtubers doing their thing is so sad. what for? just enjoy funny cute animu grill doing animu things.

      She’s said she’s forgotten most of her English until she started her online career I believe. It would make sense that this is actually her trying to guess Puerto Rico’s name because it’s Spanish, and only loosely related to English.

    Her putting an h there after the p shows she has good listening. English speakers use a breath after some consonants including the letter P. Remove that breath after the p as an English speaker and your Ps will sound more like Spanish or Indian forms of P where they don't have the breath afterwards.

    Reminds me of transcribing Korean without knowing the language, I just went for how the characters looked and got the rule of 2 and 3s of how they group into a single one.
    After some trial and error I got good at it 😅

    • @fluidthought42
      @fluidthought42 Рік тому

      Koreans are lucky in that they created a whole new character system from scratch relatively recently that fits their spoken language perfectly. English had entirely different script from Latin but the French got the printing press first and in order to save time and money... well eventually English was shoved into "Romanji" like a fat man in a child sized Halloween costume.
