I studied and worked in health care in South Africa in 1997. It was the best experience of my life as Apartheid had just ended and hope was in the air. Every morning beautiful SA Aunties brought rusks to eat wit coffee into the hospital where i worked. I can still smell and taste them in my imagination. I tried to recreate them once before, abour 15 years ago but they were not quite the same. I will definitely try this Lekker recipe and may try and find a rusk pan and cutter if they wotk out for me. Many thanks from England. ❤
I was just going to say, "I wonder what happened in that pan during the night." 🤣 Thank you for sharing 💐 Please bring us more South African recipes 🙏🇿🇦🇺🇲
Great video, with a nice therapeutic voice 🙂 ...think I'll try it over the weekend. ps. Does the oven drying help with further baking, or is it simply to get rid of the moisture? I wonder whether one would be able to use a dehydrator, to speed up the overnight process 🤔 One of my friends used a dehydrator to speed up his biltong making, and I must say it worked quite well.
Overnight drying is just to get rid of moisture. I think a dehydrator will work wonders. I haven’t tried it as mine is too small for the amount of beskuit I make at a time. Thanks for your kind comment.
I got these in SA, but you can also buy the Beskuit pans and cutters online. In NZ I think you can buy online at somethingfromhome.co.nz. I’ll have to double check that. You can also try the SA shop.
Hallo Annie Baie dankie vir die respep almal is Mal daar oor. Ek wil graag hoor, as ek salted butter gebruik moet ek nogsteeds sout by sit? Baie dankie
I got mine as a present years ago from Standerton Mpumalanga. I am sure you will be able to buy it online or order it through a home industry. Thanks for watching.

Thank you. Very kind. God bless you.
Is there anything else that can replace allbran flakes 😊... Recipe looks very easy
I have tried making it with normal bran that you get in the supermarket baking isle, but the rusks were too dense for my liking.
Dankie Annie
Jy is welkom 😉
Thank you Annie, please let me know the size of your Pannemerwe Pan
35.5 X 41 X 2.5 cm.
If you don't have that size pan, you can use 3 Bread pans and cut the beskuit by hand.
@@anniescreations8494 Thank you so much .... I have the same one so this would work perfect. Look forward tl another amazing receipe 🎈
Hallo Annie
Baie dankie vir die respep almal is Mal daar oor.
Ek wil graag hoor, as ek salted butter gebruik moet ek nogsteeds sout by sit?
Baie dankie
Ek gebruik gewone botter en sit net bietjie minder sout in. Moenie die sout uit los nie.
Where in South Africa can you buy this??

Rys die beskuit nie oor die kante van die vlak pan nie?
Die beskuit rys well, maar dit maak nie 'n muffin top nie.
What size pan did u use please

No sugar needed. This recipe has 2 cans of condensed milk in it.
Condensed milk is sweet....!
