The Bible is NOT a religious book is a FAITH book that has anectdotes, instructions for living and prophecies( That haved been fulfilled AND are being fulfilled before our very eyes) but most important a SALVATION PLAN.
It is apparent that this lady had a very negative experience growing up in what she was told was church. And I am sorry for that. There are a lot of False Teachers out there and I do not know if this was her parents or another person calling themselves a Pastor. Yes you should listen to what the Pastor is saying in the sermon, but then you go home and read what he expounded upon in the Bible to determine if what he said is true. No one can help you discern the truth but the Holy Spirit. And you must be Born Again to receive the Holy Spirit. It actually sounds like she’s done some Bible reading. Most people that hate Christianity do so because they do not like the fact that the Bible holds you accountable for sinful lifestyle.
This is the typical response I get when I tell people I’m no longer a Christian. I get apologies for “negative experiences” from “some other churches” or “some bad people” but it wasn’t that lol. It’s funny how it’s always the same response because when you’re caught up in a religious mindset, you can’t comprehend how it could be anything else. Cognitive dissonance doesn’t allow the understanding that perhaps the person who walked away saw the truth. The other typical response is “you were never really saved bc no one who really believes could walk away from the faith”. It’s a cult like all other cults and eventually my bubble popped and I saw it.

I am sure a lot of people during the early days of Christianity could not read so in that case you had to rely what you were told was in the Bible or what the Apostles told the masses. But if you remember in Acts 17:11 the Bereans went home everyday to read the Bible to see if what they were told by Paul (apostle) and Silas was true. The Bereans chose wisely to use their discernment by going to God directly since the Word of God speaks to us directly. I know that many people just go to church listen to what the Pastor said and never open their Bible at home. I know I did this often myself as well in the past. But this puts you in a vulnerable position to being deceived into false teaching and beliefs.
