Beautiful message!!!!!!!!!! And so needed. I especially liked the part about relying on "middle men" be that a weave/wig or stylist. Here is the bottom line: whoever does not learn how to take care of their own hair, will lose that hair. And that is a fact. I am a woman of a certain age. I got away with using nothing but shampoo and hair grease for 42 years because Carol's Daughter was "too expensive." I also did other neglectful things to my hair because it was "too much work." And of course, this hair neglect caught up to me and I paid a steep price starting all over again with a BC after being 20 years natural. I use my cautionary tale to guide my teens who are both growing natural hair. I tell them--there are no short cuts, there's no escape hatch and every mean/neglectful thing you do to your hair *will* come back to haunt you. So do the right thing and take care of your hair. And if you can't love it, still treat it with the deepest of respect. Your hair won't one day start to grow in differently, this is the only hair that you will ever have--make peace with it.
OMG! i totally agree 100% We still have so much work to do in the natural hair community. So many of us are still looking for a way to manipulate our hair in ways other than a perm and are still suffering from hair loss ex. glue from wig. There is nothing wrong with wigs/weaves bc I also indulge in them as well but to neglect your real hair all together because there's something else there to "cover it up" is rooted in the dislike of your natural G-d given hair.

Absolutely!! Its so easy to just give up or dismiss our natural hair but if we just have patience with our hair we will "bond" with our natural hair and see better results!
