I just wanted to thank you and Katelyn, I had just watched this episode and didn’t realize that open mouth breathing is considered an emergency in cats. Today, a few days later I came home to my cat open mouth breathing and knew to rush him to the emergency vet right away. It turns out he electrocuted himself chewing on a cord. We are still monitoring for pulmonary edema and he’s in pain but it seems that he is going to be ok ❤
He did not look or feel good for the first few days but I am happy to report he’s back to his regular bratty self and likely learned nothing lol we are doing better keeping cords hidden so hopefully it doesn’t happen again!
I love how she describes the work doctors and technicians do, but veterinary receptionists do the most and get the most grief from clients. I’m an emergency critical care technician and I love my receptionists. Veterinary receptionists are patient, kind, gracious and multitaskers. They are the face of the clinic. They make my job easier.
Also, extracting information from a frantic and frightened owner, triage by telephone. There aren’t enough thank yous in the universe for all you give to us and our pets.❤❤❤
Wonderful discussion about horrible bosses. I almost retired to escape one. I got lucky and no longer with for her. I later heard the statement "People don't quit jobs, they quit bosses.". Looking back over all my jobs, this resonates so much.
As a veterinarian in Ontario and a long-time GWTD viewer, I really appreciate that you took the time to provide some insight on what it's like to be in the veterinary industry. I also really like that you provide lots of information on different breeds and health conditions in your GWTD videos. Keep up the good work!
I find it unbelievable that you work so hard at your shop, film and edit your videos (God knows how long those take) and yet manage to keep up the podcast as scheduled. I call that sheer dedication!
My vet tech brought my dogs ashes out to me because I was too distraught to go inside. She was bawling her eyes out, because she’s a normal human being.
I live on a fixed income, and my heart is broken that I do not have a pet. I grew up with dogs and cats, and I wish for a cat very badly, but I cannot afford to care for a pet. I live vicariously through cats on the internet, and Vanessa's Girl with the Dogs 2 channel. I miss terribly holding and petting a cat! There are no cat cafes where I live, and I've tried volunteering at the local shelter. It helps, but nothing takes the place of living with a pet companion.
are there any outdoor cats in your neighbourhood? or do you maybe have a friend with a cat? You could also go to the spca to meet with and pet the kitties and doggies, the workers there really appreciate when people come to visit because the animals there because it gives them some love that they dont get as often as they should in the kennels. You can also look into volunteering at the spca or a local cat rescue if you are able to do that :)
I related so much to this episode and your first episode. I went to grooming school at 20. Eventually my boss offered to sell me her business because she was retiring. I did not end up buying it. I left grooming when I ended up always having numbness in my hand. I then became a veterinary receptionist at a 6 doctor hospital. That is a tough job as well, especially like Katelyn said, when you greet and bring a euthanasia client to the room to sign paperwork. I cried every time. Also, dealing with difficult clients is never fun. Veterinary hospitals can't run without receptionists, yet they often don't get the respect they deserve.
I’m so proud of the woman you have become. I remember when you worked for “k” you never gave up. Love you to the moon and back! You make your mom proud!
I am obsessed that you have a podcast now!!!! ❤ Thank you thank you! You are just fantastic and my miniature dachshund loves when I watch your videos and her ears perk up and she tilts her head at the dog and cat sounds. 💗
“K” was a very unhappy person and that is why she was unkind to you both. You were young and happy. Both things she was not. Good for you both to being better people.
One small city I lived in had a mobile vet. We had 3 cats and a traumatized rescue puppy and a senior dog. It was awesome and less stressful for the pets. When it came time for euthanization it was less stressful for all of us. We have since moved to a rural area. Our current vet, who is not a mobile vet, actually went to my sons house in the country to put their senior lab down. They are so compassionate in every way.
Having to deal with the loss of an animal, whether it's mine or someone else's is why I couldn't go to veterinarian school or work with animals. I applaud anyone who can deal with it. You are heroes in my mind.
I spent my career in IT, and as a woman in a very male-dominated field (it was the 80s) it was stressful. There was one other techie woman in the company and we would get away for lunches sometimes and dream of lower stress jobs. My fantasy job was to be a pet groomer. I enjoy your UA-cam’s for your wit and wisdom, your adorable clients, and for showing me that I would never, ever have really been able to do what you do! Not on my best day. I wish you continued success! ❤
I was a veterinary receptionist for 16 yrs. I am soooo glad you discussed the cost of procedures, especially blood work! It is a HUGE bone of contention for clients.
Next time she comes back to talk I would love to hear the story about the dog bite you got that broke the skin!(the one you talked about last week). I love your videos and I am so excited you have started this podcast channel!♥Thank you for all the work and love you put into everything ♥
I'm so sorry to hear about such a toxic boss. I don't know about Canada, but if you had been injured from the chair falling, you would have had a lawsuit since she didn't provide you with a safe work environment. So happy you both found the best revenge - happiness and success!
One of my cousin's she is a veterinarian now so she's living one of my dreams for me and I really! Appreciate that a lot because I am disabled and wheelchair bound
When I first started in vetmed as a tech I started in shelter medicine. Fresh out of school and straight into a frying pan! It was probably a poor choice, but I really wanted to do everything I could to help animals and that was the best way to do it in my mind at that time. I am grateful for my experiences from such a high volume and fast paced place, but man. I am happy that I managed to avoid burnout! I have taken my experiences of how to do things in the most efficient ways possible and use it to teach assistants and new techs now. A sort of 'I did it so you don't have to, and here's what I learned' for them.
I like what you said about listening to other groomers techniques. I’ve learned a lot watching your videos. With the dog boom, there’s more room for grooming specialties. I’ve been grooming for over 20 years and have had very little dogs that are comfortable with the noise and/or the feeling of a slicker brush or high velocity dryer. So I specialize in sensitive dogs and actually use hand held dryers and extremely gentle mat removing with comb and thinning shears. Of course I do not do high volume and my cuts are comfort grooms, so I can afford the extra time. But people actually pay me more for not using those tools and giving multiple breaks. If you are a caring and competent person, clients will definitely notice. Thank you for your videos. I love watching you groom! ❤
You have made me want to express my gratitude for my pets care at the vet clinic. I'm 54 and have been caring for my grandsons chi mix for about 5 years. I was terrified of dogs before this little dude came into my life. So, I appreciate you all so much🩷 thank you for loving our babies.
I am so happy you set up your business. And didn't buy "Kay's" business. I hope she knows how wildly successful you are with your business. You have worldwide followers. If I were living on the East Coast I would totally drive up to Canada and bring you my precious naughty kitty for grooming. I wish you. much love and success. You are kind, intelligent and adorable. I am sure your family is beyond proud of you. And , I did subscribe to your nona on UA-cam.
I've worked at a pet "hotel" and my local humane society and "There's a difference between liking animals and understanding them" is such a great and true statement.
Although I am not a business owner nor a dog groomer-I too worked in a toxic environment. I was much older - when I retired (at 57) I was willing to work however much needed to get “the job done”. He made a rule it was 8-5…no more! So that forced me to retire on disability. I applaud you for your courage and dedication to open your own business!!! Good for YOU!!
This person has SO SO many similarities with the first person who trained me to train dogs. The name even starts with K. 😂 So glad you got out and didn't get discouraged. ❤
I have a new appreciation for my vets and their technicians. Thank you for discussing this! My husband has commented to me that our dogs get better care than we do, and I agree! The empathy and follow up our pets have received is outstanding. I now have a better appreciation for them, and I promise not to grimace the next time I’m presented with the vet’s bill.😊
I’d like my English to be good enough so I could tell one of my stories, but I just want to say now that I agree with everything you said and I feel so sad and empathetic for you girls and the stories you share with us because the exact same thing happened to me until last year. I’ve been a veterinary nurse (I don’t know the correct term for this, but here in Brazil it's "Enfermeiro Veterinário") for about 6 years. I love my profession with all my heart, but last November I left my job because I just couldn’t handle the toxic environment caused by my boss anymore. She is the worst person I’ve ever met in my life, and like you said, she doesn't accept when people are better than her. She never cares about getting better and only cares about money. I had the same problems with comments about my weight (and it wasn't even me who broke the chair but I’m chubby,so…), being poor, and other things like that. One of the worst parts is that in 6 years I’ve already worked in 3 big hospitals here and all my bosses were mean people. So, long story short, I just can't get another job until now because I’m really traumatized by how mean people can be, not only to other people but also to animals. I love animals more than anything, I know I’m a good nurse, but I just can’t find a place to work in peace. Anyways, I want to say that I’m using these months at home to study English and your videos are totally helping me because I can hear and learn about things I’m interested in and English at the same time.Thank you so much. I wish you girls and everyone NEVER EVER have to go through things like that again. I wish I could have a boss like you.
Katelyn seems like such a kind hearted person ❤ I loved the ep. She definitely deserved better so happy she’s got people like Vanessa in her life to tell her
I worked in a vet office as a receptionist last year from the beginning of May to the end of July, it ended up being 90 days or 91 days iirc, and everything she said about being a receptionist is spot on from the experience I had. I wish I could have started at a smaller clinic but unfortunately for me the one I worked at had, I think, 5 full time doctors. the major thing that made me quit your friend mentioned and that was the mental health toll of around sick animals and euthanasias. one of my last few days there, there was a walk-in emergency that was so devastating and gut wrenching that I will never forget because it was so traumatic to see a pet in that state. I don’t like to think about it and had a really hard time getting the words out to tell my dad and my best friends about it because of just how hard it me (and I know it did for several of the other employees at the office as well). I am an introverted homebody and that job made me realize that I will never be working in customer service again. I did learn a lot and retained a lot of the knowledge I gained but I don’t think I could ever do that again, maybe if it was at an office with 1-2 doctors I would consider it but the emergency situations and euthanasia took a very hard toll on my mental state, I commend vets for being able to do all that they do. I have so many stories I could tell but this comment is already a mile long so if you read all this you’re awesome and I hope you have a great day 😊
Recently our Bichon had what could only be described as a corn on the edge of one paw pad. It also had the added complication that it was rubbing against another pad and making it so sore she was struggling to walk without any pain. It ended up costing about £650 to get fixed as she had to get it removed via surgery, stitches, blood work, antibiotics and pain medication. We are lucky that we could afford it and have pet insurance so we could claim some of it back. 18 months before that she had to have knee surgery that was over £5000 so it really can add up. Our vets are really great as they break all the costs down so you can see how it adds up and they are never quick to jump to surgery as they will try other options but sometimes it just can’t be avoided. Pets can be expensive to own and not just the obvious costs like food.
I worked with a couple ladies that remind me of K. It makes for a very stressful environment. I was so happy the last day pulling out of the parking lot knowing I’d never return.
I trained my butt off to be a veterinary nurse and after working in 4 different vet surgeries I quit because I hated it so much, not the animals, I love them, but the people, ESPECIALLY management and the vet surgeons, most ( not all ) which had little to no respect for the assistants, nurses or receptionists.
This is a very informative podcast and definitely give me more appreciation for veterinarian medicine. I want to say to Katelyn that you are a wonderful person and I am so happy that you found your calling. It was nothing you did wrong, nothing you did would have been good enough for your former employer. She was the person with the problem. Thank you for sharing this great podcast Vanessa. 🙏🏾
Thank you Vanessa and Katelyn. So good to learn your stories and so sorry to hear the problems. The owner was showing all her personal trauma in all she did….and please remember she lived in a very different time and we don’t know her background. So glad your family was able to advise and assist you. You are both young and good at what you do and will have long happy lives in front of you both. Over the years I have learned that miserable people have to live with themselves 24/7 and I feel sorry for them and their families and friends. Our world is a big place and most of us are as happy as we decide to be.
Thank you for this podcast. I recently had to have my cat put down and explaining what a veterinary practice goes through explains the costs, not that I begrudge the cost but it’s nice to understand what’s involved. Keep up the good work.
Wow it’s you! I heard your voice & knew it was you!!! I watch your videos all the time. It’s great to see you!! In my early 20’s I attended the NY School of dog grooming. I worked in a small shop for 2 yrs had my own family & friends clients on Sunday. I did this while I was unemployed frm my NY job.I loved it. I’m a dog lover! When I returned to work full time in NYC I still did my Sunday grooming. I’m 66 now & now longer groom. I still have my grooming kit from school lol I love watching you and the before & after. My Favorite breed is the Standard Poodle. Since I always lived in an apartment I had small dogs: peekaboo she looked more like a mini poodle & I had Toy Fox Terrier. Over the years I had 3 TFT which are a terrific breed. I just lost my little girl on Oct 29,2023. It’s heart breaking without her as you must know. Anyway, Thank you for your videos! I have recommend your site & products to other channels I watch. Thanks again & I look forward to more videos. Good luck on your fund raiser. Your fan from NJ
aw what a sweet lady! man i didnt know it was so mad toxic when you mentioned in another video how you first learned to groom. 😅 glad you two grew like mad since then 🎉
Where I live it is illegal to employ someone without pay even for a day. Not while teaching or training them, not interns, no one. Heck, some places give a 3-4 months training - they still pay the trainees for that time a regular salary.
I’m glad you both went down the ‘the best revenge is being successful and happy’ route. The last Pathology lab I worked for did vet work as well as human. It can be both incredibly rewarding and emotionally devastating and you need to be prepared for a lot of the later if you’re looking at going into either human or veterinary medicine at any level. Build a good support network you can trust to be there for you, who are OK with accepting you can’t legally tell them exactly why you’re hurting. (Or furious. We dealt with some animal cruelty cases that will always haunt me.) Fields that require a high level of confidentiality can burn people out fast.
Working in vet med was the best and most toxic environment I have ever been in. Did it for 8 or 9 years, and I was done. I miss it, but do not miss the abuse from the head staff.
I worked with a boss just like this and honestly listening to this episode gave me a little PTSD. When you work for a verbally abusive, passive aggressive boss it can affect you for the rest of your life. I still struggle working in any environment because I have so much anxiety when it comes to bosses. It has damaged me permanently.
Thankyou so much for shedding light on the veterinary world. I've been an RVT in Niagara region for 13 years and my top pet peeve is when people say we are in it for the $$. I love what I do but it is so hard some days. Hearing about " K" blew my mind. There's nothing worse than working for a boss like that. It is so soul crushing. I am happy you both are doing amazing now and I really enjoyed this episode!! 🩷
You can always tell a horrible, abusive boss by how they talk to their golden child. Had a director who once called one of my coworkers a "fucking idiot" behind their back, and later I found out the reason my boss was always miserable was that he was pitting her against the other manager.
Another great episode. The boss you all had sounds like a toxic one I had in another industry. Wrote me up for something she had previously praised me for. Mixed messages and passive aggressiveness do not work. I like straightforward people with whom I don't need to guess what they think or feel about me or my work. So crazy that she was so invested that she went out of her way to contact all the authorities she did.... You are so much more above this behavior, Vanessa.
when I worked at a vet office, the office manager was the nightmare person of the building. one time we had a client who recently had their pet put down, and was going to be sent off to be cremated. They did not want a body bag for their pet. The office manager made me go to the back freezer of recently deceased pets and pull the dead dog out of the body bag
Weak people are always threatened by strong people. Your ex boss was a weak person and you are a strong person. She had no clue how to interact with someone like you. ❤
Your friend seems so sweet! I can see how the environment caused animosity, but I’m glad y’all overcame it. I’m always so angry when I hear stories about women being body shamed in their workplace like I’m sorry but unless you’re their primary doctor shut up.
Even primary doctors have no right..... Like you're fat but you're telling me as my PCP that I need to lose weight...... Do me a favor tell me how..... Better yet do it and then tell me what works please, thank you..... Loved your comment
I try to show my groomer appreciation beyond tips…occasional flowers or cookies. I also show my vet & staff appreciation….Dunkin Gift Cards, cookies, pizza gift cards. They all are so kind & caring & understanding.
Katelyn..tu m'as fait verser des larmes quand tu parles des derniers jours..j'aurais aimé que tu sois là pour Kuma..le feeling que la personne en face de toi comprends,,,merci
Vanessa. We love your content. If this was 2 hours I’d watch it. You don’t need to do the jump cuts. If you’re deleting content that you don’t want us to hear, I get that. But if it’s to make the video shorter …I wouldn’t do it. Most podcasts don’t do jump cuts of even edit much. Love you!
On one side you are correct that veterinary services have a cost to them for a reason, in particular specialist care. But on the other side, saying 'dont have an animal if you cannot afford to look after it' is also shifting the blame because basic vet services, in particular spay, neuter and vaccinations, should absolutely be made affordable (e.g. through state subsidy programs) to curb the insanely high rate of animal abandonment, reduce shelter overcrowding and kill rates, and finally get around to tackling the associated insane (cat) overpopulation that is at the core of the lack of affordable vet care, along with lack of awareness. A lot of times, people don't 'choose' to have an animal - rather, they are left with the choice to either rescue an animal in need (and shoulder the bill if no rescue groups can assist in the process) or turn away and deny it the help it needs to survive.
Such a great episode! I hear a lot of nightmare boss stories in the industry and realize how lucky I was to have a phenomenal boss train me years ago. The kennel was always a 'best idea wins' environment without ego and apparently that's a rare thing in this industry lol
You guys are so sweet! I love this podcast and learning more about the grooming industry something I not familiar and talking about the vets work. I used to want to be be a vet growing up but I could not put an animal down I’m super emotional and I would cry every time
I very much like your podcast (and your videos anyway). Both of your friends seem to be really nice. Very interesting things she has to say. Thank you. And so true liking and understanding animals is not the same. It's the same everywhere around the world with such bosses... And the vet bills. All the best to all of you from Germany
Hmmm - about the costs - here in Europe, in the country with the Atomium, I have a different experience; A consult costs 40-50 euro's en then the medication - for example, when I went with my 3 dogs for their yearly vacciantions - I paid 1 consult and 3 vaccins, wich came to 155 euro. That's it. Receptionists or Assistants are non existing in a 'normal' practice. But they tend to have a simple X-ray machine. For operations, they mostly do neutor dogs ans cats themselves. Sometimes try to heal a broken bone, but everyting a little more complicated will get referred to a veterinary clinic. There they may have one receptionist/assitant and some medical students. Bloodwork is sent to a lab, wich will send the client the bill. When a dog dies, you can leave it for free and it will be processed with the dead cows and pigs of the farmers. When you want your pet cremated, you have to make arrangemenst youself. So, not that many people want to pay for that extra cost. Most people will choose the back yard. That's free ... To be frank, all the vets I've visited the last 25 years work pretty much the same. It can be this or that problem - we will treat it with this medication and when that doesn't work we'll try somthing else. No expensive procedures needed ? You CAN do more expensive things, like chemo for dogs, but it's generally not considered usefull when you have a 8 year old dog with a life expectancy of 10 years. Also - when you can't afford a pet, you shouldn't get one - yeah, not so simple. You can already have a pet when life changes arround you. One off the first dogs we had in our married life needed an emergency operation. This veterenary knew there was no money. So, I got to be the assistant during the operation myself. Hold this, do that. An I could pay in installments. Not everyone has the opportunity to do this, but then again, we don't usually get in debt for thousands off dollars to get a degree. ( We pay a total off 1000 euros for one collage year ) But that's a whole other issue.
I wish Pet insurance had been more of a thing when my dogs were younger, would've saved me a ton! (I had English Bulldogs $$$. GREAT DOGS, but you MUST research the breed and try to find breeders that are serious about the health of the breed, we want less flat noses and less turned-in legs, even though it is cute.)
This is why there are so many dogs in shelters. They beg people to adopt pet knowing they cant afford them. Many cant. My dog had a pyometra. It was urgent. She would have just died. I had to run around asking friends for what they could spar. This dog is my life. My boys were raised with her. She waited for their bus after school. She goes on every camping trip. She sleeps right in my bed every night. Almost 12 years now. She is the biggest part of my family but when your income changes due to a medical crisis with a human in the home... your dogs life doesnt become less important. So yea. 5k upfront to save my dog is ridiculous. They were just going to watch her die. They dont all care. She had insurance but they wanted 5k upfront? Really? All vets in my area keep getting shut down because they are scamming people. This is why dog are surrendered. There is no way i was sign over my dog in order for her to get medical care. Thats my child.
I agree if only wealthy people had dogs there would be even more strays on the streets. I take care of my dog much better than I take care of myself but if I need $10000 upfront I won't have it, the pet ins only covers a small portion of that. I focus on keeping my dog as healthy as possible but from previous experience sometimes you just can't foresee difficulties that will develop in the future. I also only adopt stray dogs because many times people that have the extra money will only go to breeders and ignore all the other dogs that need help.
Soooooo cool. So happy for you both!! Great job. Question, it looks like there is a drawer open in your chest of drawers in the background…. Dog bed inside?? ❤
Ya Wendy’s for like eight years caused me some ptsd we used to joke about unaliving at work I met my husband there which was one huge blessing but some jobs are toxic like when ur young and can’t stand up for yourself to not me unprofessional when u need sucks
I agree that if you can’t afford vital things such as vet care, high quality food and essentials to keep your pet healthy then you don’t need to get a pet because it’s unfair to the pet. If you want a pet start a pet fund savings. Whether it be a savings account or a jar on top of your fridge. Also while you are saving money you can really research about what breed or type of animal you want. There may be certain qualities you do and don’t want. That will help you decide on a certain pet or breed of pet. We have a loadable Visa card and money is added every two weeks. Luckily we have only had to use the “pet” Visa card a couple times and those times were for it to supplement what we paid out of pocket. I’m not saying if you can’t afford a pet right now doesn’t mean you should never have a pet. It just means that there is time to prepare for saving and being able to get one down the road. I was a vet tech for over 15 years. It was a five doctor practice and we had vet’s that were orthopedic specialist, geriatric specialist, exotics specialist and general health care vets. So it was a crazy busy practice. Most vets don’t not make very much money at all after school loans, overhead costs if you own a practice or are investing in the practice. Anyway the day when you lose a patient is really hard. Two things that were the most frustrating were convince euthanasia, when the owner is tired of having a pet and it’s easiest for the owner is to euthanize their pet to get rid of it. But the biggest one is people bringing their pets in sick or injured and say “do everything you can for $50”!!! Most clinics in my area and the one I use now, an office visit starts are $45. Than these people want to negotiate with the vet! They don’t want to do any diagnostics. But want an answer to what’s wrong with their pet. It’s crazy! Also people tend to forget that where they go to their own GP you can tell them what’s wrong, where it hurts how bad it hurts. Veterinarians’ patients can’t give you exact problem/issues. So that’s a lot harder to figure out what’s going on just based on the pet’s behavior and the owners observations. That one reason you should get to know what is normal and abnormal with their pet. Sorry this is so long but just wanted to add my experiences.
I complain about the cost of veterinary care but never put blame on vets for it. I know it's just the cost of materials and lots of skills and knowledge and everything. I even had an emergency vet waive their examination fee for me when she asked me to bring my dog back in the next day just to make sure my dog was okay. I just complain because pets are expensive generally haha😅 (To friends and family to be clear. not angrily on the internet)
About the same way. My gripes are never directed at the vets and usually the situations come up when other financial burdens sap any reserves I had. Last time one of my fur babies needed major work done was right when I was on unpaid furlough during the COVID lockdown so my steady income that could pay for the operations wasn't there. I could only do so from high-interest personal loan + family giving some that helped me and my cat; it gave me another four months of her life before she had to be enthuanised for advanced kidney failure.
I adore everyone who works at my vet's office (my dog does too!) Question about Pet Insurance: we don't do puppies. Would Insurance be something we should explore since we have older dogs?
We got a hair dryer for my hair tried to use it on my German shepherd one time because he needed a bath didn’t want to take him to the groomers like in an emergency he needs a bath fine but it was hrs and didn’t do anything for his shedding hair lol not smart but he just goes to the groomers now
When I pay $300 for an annual check up…that’s a lot. I went to a different vet and paid $150 for the same thing which was more reasonable for me. So I don’t think it’s fair to say if you can’t pay for care don’t get a pet.
I made a girl with the dogs mini cushion logo for you as fan art. I really would love to send it to you do you have a public address or a po box I can send it to
For those of you out there who are passive aggressive, and you know who you are, you are not fooling anyone. You are making yourself look bad and nobody else.
I really hope this isn't offensive to anyone at all, I do not mean it that way, I am just wondering if Katelyn would make more sense to herself as autistic? I am autistic and I make so much more sense to myself looking at myself this way. It is just a super broad thought, I just know she'd be welcome in the community regardless. 💛💛💛💛
🤞❤❤
Hope your kitty is better ❤
I'm praying for your cat to heal. 🙏🏾🤗
He did not look or feel good for the first few days but I am happy to report he’s back to his regular bratty self and likely learned nothing lol we are doing better keeping cords hidden so hopefully it doesn’t happen again!
@@Spajari Excellent news ❤️

I’ve been in vet few times when my animals got sick they have seen me balling and crying in there there’s hero’s for that
Agree. Being on the front desk of any business dealing with the public is the hardest and lowest paying.
I love how K probably wanted to make Vanessa her ally in bullying Katelyn but instead got you two becoming friends and leaving her toxic business ❤
She has friends to help edit her videos and probably her partner.
And great organizational skills
You may have inherited your nono's work ethic. God bless!❤
I believe you will find a way and it will add more abundance to your life, not more scarcity, I love to hear what your heart has said 💛🤗🤗🤗🤗
Are you able to foster? Often the rescue will cover costs you provide a home environment and love until a home is found
I am in the same situation. Now I have plants 🪴 They don't provide cuddles and purrs.
What about fostering?
We love you Maria, best internet mom ever ❤
I hate that vet care is so expensive but it has to be done. This helped me understand even more why the prices seem so high
I am obsessed that you have a podcast now!!!! ❤ Thank you thank you! You are just fantastic and my miniature dachshund loves when I watch your videos and her ears perk up and she tilts her head at the dog and cat sounds. 💗
Aww thank you! ❤️
Good for your grandparents and parents for coaching you in the right direction.
I have so many stories I could tell but this comment is already a mile long so if you read all this you’re awesome and I hope you have a great day 😊
This was a good one. I love that you touched on toxic work environment but especially vet care.
Congratulations Vanessa on having your very own grooming job😃
I miss it, but do not miss the abuse from the head staff.
and POD CAST 2 is in THE BOOKS. YAY ! Thank you BOTH!
I love the respect you two have for each other. This is such a cool friendship and bond over pups.
Thankyou for your interview
I was interesting to peek behind the curtain ❤
Enjoyed your discussion about pet insurance. Your podcasts are great and your guests are interesting and fun. 🎉
I had that happen to me once, when I gave notice at a job and was told to go home and not come back. Their loss.
I am really enjoying these podcasts💛💛
I try to show my groomer appreciation beyond tips…occasional flowers or cookies. I also show my vet & staff appreciation….Dunkin Gift Cards, cookies, pizza gift cards. They all are so kind & caring & understanding.
Katelyn..tu m'as fait verser des larmes quand tu parles des derniers jours..j'aurais aimé que tu sois là pour Kuma..le feeling que la personne en face de toi comprends,,,merci
My first boss must be a clone of your first boss- similar stories and situations! YUCK! Hope they are watching🙋🏻♀️
This was great, I am not in the industry but I understand toxic bosses. Frankly I think more women are toxic than men.
Love you!
Worked in human healthcare and you are right. Working with women and surgeons can be interesting!
THIS^
Hope all bosses think like that...They need to take some notes from this video for sure lol..
Great podcast very interesting
Such a great episode! I hear a lot of nightmare boss stories in the industry and realize how lucky I was to have a phenomenal boss train me years ago. The kennel was always a 'best idea wins' environment without ego and apparently that's a rare thing in this industry lol
Vanessa, you are very loving, gracious, and intelligent, and ethical, young lady.
A beautiful spirit/soul!
I admire Kate’s perspective! Hun you’re doing amazing!
Hmmm - about the costs - here in Europe, in the country with the Atomium, I have a different experience;
A consult costs 40-50 euro's en then the medication - for example, when I went with my 3 dogs for their yearly vacciantions - I paid 1 consult and 3 vaccins, wich came to 155 euro.
Thank you for explaining a bit on how pet insurance works makes me want to look into it a bit more.
..outro..really like it..i mean your design is❤❤
heartbreaking.. you are awesome luv 🤗
Really appreciate this episode but also the talk of insurance!!
Soooooo cool. So happy for you both!! Great job. Question, it looks like there is a drawer open in your chest of drawers in the background…. Dog bed inside?? ❤
Just me forgetting to close it 😂
@@TalkYourTailOff-nm4su you crack me up!!
Sorry this is so long but just wanted to add my experiences.
this is why shelters are overloaded with pets, because people cannot afford vet bills :(
i thought i had missed you had a podcast but this is your second video. love watching you.
Take out the pet grooming and you described at least a couple of my former bosses.
Was “K” named Karen?
Love this podcast!
I adore everyone who works at my vet's office (my dog does too!)
Question about Pet Insurance: we don't do puppies. Would Insurance be something we should explore since we have older dogs?
Please, have Caitlyn (sp) on your podcast again.
She is an amazingly beautiful person.
We got a hair dryer for my hair tried to use it on my German shepherd one time because he needed a bath didn’t want to take him to the groomers like in an emergency he needs a bath fine but it was hrs and didn’t do anything for his shedding hair lol not smart but he just goes to the groomers now
The ONE downvote is from K. We all know it's true.
I am now going to make a tiktok about my nightmare boss.
yeee story times
When I pay $300 for an annual check up…that’s a lot. I went to a different vet and paid $150 for the same thing which was more reasonable for me. So I don’t think it’s fair to say if you can’t pay for care don’t get a pet.
I made a girl with the dogs mini cushion logo for you as fan art. I really would love to send it to you do you have a public address or a po box I can send it to
It's ridiculous that they let you work for free, even if in training. 😮
For those of you out there who are passive aggressive, and you know who you are, you are not fooling anyone. You are making yourself look bad and nobody else.
YESSS if you can't afford an animal, don't have an animal!
your friend is just as gorgeous as you are!
