God, that certain fight in Act 3’s interactions with radiant. I’d been crunching hard on spirit guardians with my lore bard, didn’t check their info, and opened the fight by flying in to take out the chaff, freeing up the party to deal with the main enemy. Full health to unconscious immediately.
Important thing to note regarding the Chain Lightning multi-class: If you use your 1 lvl in Wizard to scribe the spell, you'll be casting it as a Wizard (thus using INT rather than the Sorc's CHA). Make sure your build has a decent INT stat if you plan to use this spell.
So for radiant, I think a good reason why people think undead are weak to it is because of the shadows in act two. They are probably the most prominent undead enemies in the game and their whole design is focused around light and shadows, so they are weak to radiant.
Yeah, it wouldn’t be a problem if the bhaalist armour was more easily obtainable. The fact you have to be a disciple of murder to get it is a big drawback
It really depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking about overall versatility, I'd say I agree with you. A lot of things are piercing resistant. Many more creatures than force damage for example. But If you're talking about overall peak damage, pierce definitely belongs on this list. Once you get Bhaalist armor you are fucking godly for the entire rest of the act. Combining Shar's Spear of Evening and also having wet + lightning damage is maybe the best damage you could do. Hell, you can one shot the netherbain with it on normal attacks and certain buffs. I've heard other very knowledgeable content creators who have beaten honor mode as level 1 without exploits agree with this guys' take.
For fire you can have archers have arsonist and combustion oils to set up fire weakness and also shreds resistances. The synergy of archer and fire sorcerer and light cleric is amazing. Even with the immunity you can have a level 1 warlock dip for command for non concentrating controlling. Raphael was groveling for me. Id say fire is A tier for that reason. Oil isnt as available as wet so i don't think its S. But fire comes online a bit sooner thanks to scorching ray imo.
Yo you know me, always geeking over BG3! The ne’er misser is great on any martial class because the free level 3 magic missile can come in handy on someone who cant cast!
Psychic should be S tier because of the Resonance Stone alone (AoE Psychic vuln for free). Builds abusing Resonance Stone, permanent Shadow Blades and anything that adds +WeaponDmg (which turns Psychic and is in turn doubled) can output absurd damage.
Oh yes I haven't tried that build yet but you make a really good point. In that case its totally S tier, but even A tier means its pretty great as is! Ill have to try a build like that sometime though, sounds similar to the aura of murder from the bhaalist armor
Totally agree. Easy S, you can pratically 1 turn raphael with a psychic damage resonance stone build (and I'm talking about the regular build, not the one with the glitch for permanent shadow blade, that one is simply broken 😅). The only downside is that you can only use it in act 3 and steelwatchers exist, but with any other enemy, damage is completely broken.
I have never seen the AI cast silence except in the withers crypt. Im not sure I agree about slashing and bludgeoning being as low as they are. Oil of diluted sharpness overcomes resistances to those damage types. Im usually not in a situation where I wish i could have DOoS and another oil. Force damage is complicated. I only recently discovered that "frozen" makes targets vulnerable to bludge, thunder AND force damage. But they lose the frozen debuff when they take damage. So I cant just unload 84 beams worth of eldritch blasts in 1 turn like I hoped on my sorlock RIP. If I learned anything from this video is that I should try out cleric and storm sorcerer.
If we take magical versions of slashing and bludgeoning they are better, but there's so many normal resistances to slashing I had to put it lower to keep it balanced. Force is really nice since most fights won't resist it. I always have someone spamming Ice spells too Definitely try out storm sorcerer + tempest cleric! The damage potential is incredible and it feels satisfying. Dragonic Sorcerer gets fly at level 11 that uses movement speed and no action, where the storm sorcerer gets it at level 1 as a bonus action. Both are incredible but I slightly prefer lightning Dragon sorc. Create water is one of the most overpowered things you can do in BG3
Totally agree with S tier. Not that I disagree with others, just not so knowledgeable. Relying on Aura of Murder with shars spear of evening + (Wet + Lightning) combo absolutely carried me through my first solo honor, and eldritch blast is my favorite way of dealing damage in the whole game. Cheers dude, you know your stuff.
@@craiglee4061 hey thanks man I appreciate that! I’m a big fan of the create water cold/lightning builds, and the aura of murder / Orin’s dagger can be really fun too. Have an awesome day bro
I feel like once you get the Bhaalist Armor piercing damage becomes easily the best. Unlike Ice/Lightning that has some enemies immune to it, I haven't seen anything completely immune to piercing, and while there are quite a few resistant enemies it's negated by the aura. Against everyone else you get free vulnerability without any set up, you just need the armor user to walk towards them
I would have force and psychic at the top of s tier. Because they are the least resisted. Ice and lightning are S based on potential, but not in front of the others because you need to specifically build to get the most out of them
You can double lighting and cold damage on people who are resistant to it, making them easily the best damage type but I do see your point. Water elemental, water trident or create water are all very helpful because double damage is NICE 😎
@@JasonDunna Totally, My first ever playthrough was as a Storm Sorc with a couple points in Tempest, it wasn't perfect, being a day 1 build, but it was hella fun!
It’s really frustrating that there are so few items and spells in the game that use acid damage. It’s a fun damage type with a great surface effect. But no, there are only 2 dedicated acid spells in the game - acid splash and melf’s - and they are both pretty bad. The other options are chromatic orb, glyph of warding (both of which have better variants) and hunger of hadar (which is less about acid damage and more about cold + control). Acid is really crying out for a powerful level 4-5 spell
In all of my playthroughs, so rarely have I seen enemies use Silence or Blade Ward. Or perhaps they do use them, but I just don't notice, as they as so inconsequential :P I'd rate Thunder as A tier. It's the other damage type that can benefit from being a Storm Sorcerer, and it's the damage type you "need" to destroy the scrying eyes. It's just so difficult to destroy them with anything else xP There are also some items that build upon it fairly well. I'd also rate Bludgeoning damage a bit higher... maybe also A tier. I always keep at least one weapon with this damage type to destroy walls, as well as to fight Grym :P Enemies are usually (a) resistant to all physical damage types (b) not resistant to any physical damage (c) vulnerable to bludgeoning. I don't recall having seen an enemy vulnerable to piercing or slashing damage, without you making them that in some way. But that's not the case for bludgeoning. And I'd drop acid to B tier. The damage type is... okay, in the sense that not too many enemies resist it, but the sources of acid damage are fairly bad.
Why they let us build acid sorcerer, can we make a build around this without any items? I know hunger of Hadar does acid damage but doe sit stack with Sorcerer's draconic bloodline?
Last time I requested an arrow tier list, you accidentally posted it next couple hours😂. Maybe this tie made an poison ivy build within an hour XD. Jk keep up the ood works, you channel is already way more active than average channel.
Just remember: To get the Bhaalist armor, you *must* go to the evil side (at least partly). You must kill an innocent NPC and become an unholy assasin of the evil god Bhaal.
Valeria is innocent yea but they were kinda annoying so I didn’t mind sacrificing for Bhaal hahaha. Although you can get Orin’s dagger being a good character and it applies the vulnerability to piercing!
Only removes any resistances (doesn’t apply vulnerability) and it only adds +1 to attack and damage rolls. From my understanding it only applies the +1 damage to non-magical weapons too
God, that certain fight in Act 3’s interactions with radiant. I’d been crunching hard on spirit guardians with my lore bard, didn’t check their info, and opened the fight by flying in to take out the chaff, freeing up the party to deal with the main enemy. Full health to unconscious immediately.
Hahaha yup that’ll happen! Thankfully there is the necrotic spirit guardians
What fight is that exactly? Played the game 4 times up to this point and im not sure what encounter that was
Important thing to note regarding the Chain Lightning multi-class: If you use your 1 lvl in Wizard to scribe the spell, you'll be casting it as a Wizard (thus using INT rather than the Sorc's CHA). Make sure your build has a decent INT stat if you plan to use this spell.
Yes very true! The INT circlet gives you effectively a 16 in INT to cast them which isn’t great but isn’t terrible
So for radiant, I think a good reason why people think undead are weak to it is because of the shadows in act two. They are probably the most prominent undead enemies in the game and their whole design is focused around light and shadows, so they are weak to radiant.
Yeah that’s a good point, the shadows are vulnerable to radiant damage but not the regular ghouls and skeletons
I'd rate Piercing lower tbh. A lot of your reasoning was based on just two late game items.
Yeah, it wouldn’t be a problem if the bhaalist armour was more easily obtainable. The fact you have to be a disciple of murder to get it is a big drawback

If you can inflict the frozen status effect it does create vulnerability to force and bludgeoning
Yess it’s sad it doesn’t last very long but you can set up some synergetic builds to take advantage with high initiative
