Next time, collect up lots of newspaper, you can use it for the dining table (just lift and throw away) as a backing for spraying (keep wall clean) and best of all, use it to wrap the bars and just stick it together with cellotape, much easier than having to clean off the sticky from freshly painted frame... Very entertaining video :)
Love this vid so interesting, inspired me to spray my bars now😂
Get it done man! It’s really satisfying. Just don’t cheap out on the masking tape. Get some frog tape and you’ll smash it!!
damn, this is a quality video :D good job. i painted my bars before watching this but one mistake i made was i sprayed about 5 layers of paint and a pretty thick layer of primer and when i put my shifters on my bars they took off the paint because the bars were too thick from the paint. also you shouldnt wait too long between coats maybe 5-10 mins between paint coats and 20 mins between the lacquer coats. if i did this again id completely eliminate the primer coat and spray 2 light coats of paint and a light coat of lacquer
also when you're putting masking tape on, tape it to your shirt first and then the object you're painting, this way the tape comes off easily
Hahahah i had the same fear when i started putting the grips on but luckily it all fit! Thanks so much. really appreciate it!
@@sessionmediaa :D Thank you for making a fantastic video :D
@@angeryanimal398 new one uploading now :)
Hey! This is way too late. But I just saw the video, and just read your comment, good sir.
So do I not need a primer coat for my handle bar anymore? I am also planning to repaint it, but I do not know what to do yet. Oh also, can I just apply the paint over the paint on the handle bar?
You can use newspaper for masking. Just tape the edges with masking tape and use the paper to cover the rest.
Great shout! I wish i had thought about that rather than using so much tape
Alcohol or paint thinner will do for the tape removal
Also lighter fluid works to remove sticky tape. But great video thank you for making it.
Haha watching this video after purchasing sprays from home bargains to spray my handlebars
Yes bud!!!! Only piece of advice I learned was don’t use cheap tape.
degreaser will soften the adhesive and you can remove it with toilet paper or a T-shirt or that sock. at least that's my experience with Gorilla tape, if does not work repeat until it's gone.
Good idea!!!
can you write the names of the products you use because I don't understand English.
BEGAMER no worries.
I used sand paper, masking tape and spray paint. But in all honesty the brands I used were too cheap and, although I probably used them wrong, I had issues with the paint not spraying easily through the heads and the masking tape left residue. 😂
what sandpaper uses which number
BEGAMER I used 240grit. Should have used higher numbers to finish it.
My seatpost need this
Do it!
It was pretty fun and i think it's definitely worth it.
If you put another piece of tape on top of the sticky parts and burnish it down. Then pull off the new piece of tape the sticky parts should come off on the new tape.
Denbigh home bargains 🤣🤣
Good content and yh I came from tiktok lol
Btw when I seen you put the masking tape all over I knew it was a bad idea but I also knew the after part would be funny to watch 😂😂😂
@@robert_22 Thanks so much! hahaha I had the guy who's repainting my bike frame message me straight away saying "you idiot" haha ive got big plans for the next pair.
@@sessionmediaa I'll support ya, not only are your vids entertaining but it gives better knowledge of comedic timing and also better transitions so thanks for that and also thanks for the content
@@robert_22 that's really kind thank you! I appreciate it very much!
Thx i thought about this now i can show my dad what i mean
It's a fun little project and if you take your time with it you'll do a much better job than me!
Bro, You should least wear mask and googles, for safety. But I liked the video and Thanks
100% agree! I went in so unprepared! 😂
Try painters tape next time wont leave a residue
Corey Baker thanks man. Next I’m going to try and repaint my whole bike so I’ll need to get some! 🤘🤘
no one gonna mention the cat in the background 😺
Is this paint durable??
it's not as durable as powder coating but it is pretty good. The smoother you get it, the better you prepare the bars and the higher quality the 2k clear coat you use will give it more durability. I have hit these bars in to a few hard surfaces like walls etc and they seem to stand up to it as well as factory painted bars i have. Hope that's useful
@@sessionmediaa and how about when assemblying the stem?? I think it's the most critical area, any issues there? I'm about to paint my road handlebar and that's my biggest fear. Thanks for the video mate!
@@julenelorzgarde8529 no issues as yet although I could imagine issues coming from repeatedly taking the bars on and off the stem. 👍👍👍👍
