Varg Vikernes was part of the 90s black metal scene in Norway, a scene that surrounded itself with darkness and death. Instead of creating music about death, Varg chose to cause it instead.

That movie is the biggest piece of garage released. Watch “Until the Light Takes Us” and archives of “Thulean Perspective”, Varg’s old Channel.
The way I gasped out loud with delight when I saw the subject of this video in my notifications. As a fan of your channel and a longtime metalhead, I’ve always hoped that you’d cover this case, but wasn’t optimistic. Now that you’ve made a video on it, I’m spinning in circles.

Same. That whole thing was so very sad - that poor lad. Maybe Jiles couldn't mention it because of YT rules? I know they're pretty strict, but that's all I know. (Quick edit: what I remember is that Euronymous 'rearranged' the scene to make it look like it'd be a good album cover. I can't recall if that got debunked or not.)
Bull shit never happened. Dawn of the black hearts was a bootleg you know not an official release. Euronymous did send a friend who released that live album a photo, but no official Mayhem album has a corpse on it.

I wanted to recommend people who’ve never seen it to not look it up, it’s pretty brutal.
I am from Norway. Had a summer job at the rebuilt Fantoft stavechurch, also got married here. We were always scared of his followers as they were hanging out near the church and had some rituals every year of the fire to celebrate this idiot.
Its good that you at least have some good memories of the church. Churches and any other places of worship should be off limits for this sort of intimidation and vandalism, period! And it looked like such a beautiful original old structure too. I hope it was rebuilt just a beautifully.

I’ve seen several documentaries on Sweden’s prison system. So interesting. If I’m remembering correctly, certain prisoners can even leave the prison during the day for work and they come home and sleep in their “cell”. They have a full kitchen the prisoners can use and they even get grocery store food items to use, of their choice. So they can be in prison and continue making a paycheck with a ton of freedom. It works for them pretty well! It’s so interesting!
Hardly hotels, but we believe in making people better citizens, not worse.

Here if people get out of prison as a felon they have zero chance of finding a job or a place to live as if you’re a felon nobody will rent to you. How are people supposed to build their lives again? It’s so sad. It’s a vicious cycle

Black metal is kind of hit or miss, but death metal from '92 - '93 is as good as music gets.
Yeah....i played in a Danish death metal band called DETEST IN 89 - 95.... played up warm whit death and carcass in 94......great memories 🌚

i remember hearing about this case a long time ago when coffeehouse crime covered it.
a little [not so] fun fact about mayhem: after dead was found dead (literally) by euronymous and after the photos were taken, one of them was actually used in a bootleg live album, dawn of the black hearts… understandably garnering a ton of controversy with the immensely grisly album cover.

So good! Even better that the soundtrack features ambient electronica by Ulver, who used to be a black metal band but got into creepy, wonderful movie soundtrack production. Proving to whoever needs it that metal musicians are often extremely broadminded and versatile 😊
there's another black metal band, this time from germany named "Absurd", that became sort of a "legend" within the scene, after two of them killed a class mate and band member in the early 90's. there's also Nazism and Satanism involved. this case also got media coverage nation wide and partly abroad. the two also did not changed after the prison release and are still active in the scene! you should make a video about this case in future
