hey mate, I have just found this channel and spent the last few hours going through the entire tinny build, I just wanted to call out and say thanks for the awesome content, I have a 460 renegade and after watching this im keen to replace all the wood with aluminium plate. im also keen if you can do a wiring vid
Thanks Heath! I think a wiring video may be next on the cards, but due to its risk factor for getting it wrong, I'll be making sure I get everything prepped accordingly! If you have Instagram, would love if you flicked me some progress photos of your Renegade build! Always cool to see new builds @grift.co
Good stuff chief. In the future it may be worth looking at cupboard style hinges. The ‘lift out’ that they give would allow for a flush close and full open. 👍🏼
Next time you cut alloy use standard bees wax as a cutting lubricate. Cleans up easier with acetone if you ever want to weld. Wd40 is oil based and your welder will hate you for it if you ever go down that path. Nice work brother 🤟🏻
Thanks Mate! That's definitely one I'll have to look into. I try my best to clean everything up with Acetone prior to welding these days but everyone get's lazy once in a while, right
So watching your vlogs has got me thinking about making front seat in my tinny into a storage area. Top of seat already damaged by a dodgy bucket seat by previous owner. But I'd like to make it waterproof design. 1. cut reqd access hole in seat. 2.using angle attached to C channel, mount angle beneath perimeter of hole. The C channel will be cut flush with rear of seat. Thus forming a U shaped channel for water to collect n drain at rear edge of seat. 3.using alloy sheet cut hatch top n seat top. Bend the rearmost edge of hatch down towards floor,so it covers drain holes n also gives me ability to lock the hatch using hasp n latch. 4. Hinge front edge of hatch to front of seat. Cover with Hydroturf or similar. Sound OK?
Great vid! I will be stealing all your ideas, thanks! Also, do you think rivnuts might be useable in fibreglass? I'm going to make a removable cast deck for my boat out of ally and It's fibreglass. Will have to do some tests..
Thanks Dean Watt , I think it’s feasible to use rivnuts in Fiberglass but I do recall there may be some incompatibility depending on the materials used. I think close use of aluminium in some composites can cause catalysed corrosion but it’s a very faint memory. Maybe have a google and let me know? I’ll try have a look tonight too
@@GriftCo Hmm I never considered the corrosion side of things. Are the rivnuts ally? I'm guessing you're an engineer of some kind? I may be calling on you in the future when I totally stuff up my cast deck design haha
Haha, Not as boring as an engineer Dean. I’m an industrial designer but work with engineers all day everyday so they rub off on me. Keen to see your deck when you’re done - feel free to DM me through insta @grift.co
📢SORRY HOMIES! THE AUDIO LEVELLING AT THE START PROBABLY WASN'T THE BEST I COULD DO - SORRY HEADPHONE USERS! AM I YELLING?!📢
Super job 👍👍
Capral aluminium 😎 has the goods
Rivnuts might be the solution to a problem that I had and didn't know how to fix. Thanks for that!

Another awesome vid mate!!!!
great video
Great ideas. Been looking around and this is the best so far

Looks so good
What thickness on your square tube and aluminum decking? Great boat! Hard to find in the USA. People buy them and keep them!
Great Video mate ! Well put together 👍
Scott Boyd thanks Scott appreciate it :)
Nice one, where did you get the countersunk rivnuts.
Rivnuts!
hows it holding up ?

What thickness are the aluminium tubes? 3mm or 1mm Thanks
When are we doing mine?? haha
When I have a case of cold Coronas, not a case of Corona
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
What was the thickness of your aluminium sheet, thinking of doing similar project replacing ply flooring
The back is with 4mm, but 3mm would have probably done the job
Hey man great videos, I was just wondering which software did you use to draw your design?
Hey mate, the software is Autodesk Sketchbook

look into well nuts - might be better in fiberglass due to flex of rubber....
