Does reprocess it mean to re can it? Sorry I’m new to this. I had one that did not seal but it was a reused jar (sterilized) with a new lid.
You would put a new lid on it and ring. Put it in the water bath all at room temperature water and jar turn on the stove when the water is at a hard boil start your times and remove the jar when time is up
@@timebythetent3594 thank you ma’am! 💗
Thanks for the vid, very relevant as I literally just had this happen to me for the first time and I didn't know what to do! I've been told to just let the jar sit, eventually it would seal itself but I am overly paranoid; reprocessing it is lol. Thanks again for the content.
I really was expecting a video showing HOW to reprocess.
It all depends on the item if it was water bathed or pressure canned
Thankyou i was lost you save me 8 jars of salsa 1:48
Joking 😢
I always freeze my jam. Works great 👍
Nobody says if you can just swap the lid or if you need to put the contents in a whole new jar.
I can’t water in my jars are completely sanitized and brand new a lot of them do not seal but some of them did do I need to put brand new jars that I don’t have on the brand new jars that did not seal?
I canned taco soup yesterday and today while washing my jars I noticed I had one jar that has a false seal.
My jar does just like your example; it has a "seal" but you can click it in the middle. So I can I still reprocess it today although it's been 24-hours since canning? Thanks!
Was this pressure canned or water bath canned? If pressure canned then no. If its water bath canned then you can put a new lid on, put it in the canner with water at room temp. Then put the heat to it. Once its at a boil start the timer for the process time.
@@WisVeggieGardeners thanks this answered my question on how to reprocess.
Hi great video I'm new to canning Can I do canning without using a sealer how long do I need to wait for jar to seal? Can I can leafy collard greens cabbage carrots beets onions garlic kale ?if yes do i.fill jar of vegetable with water and salt to preserve vegetables in.Jar Thanks
Thanks for taking time to do these videos ;
Huge help !
So ????? What is reprocessing¿?????
Can I reprocess chicken broth? I had one jar that didn’t seal(I didn’t get the cap on straight). Can I put it in the fridge and reprocess it in a few days? 😊
Yes you can
My seals were not sealed 12 hours later, but when I tapped down on them they sealed (or lay flat now) and have not repopped. Is that stuff safe
No that is a false seal. If it has just been a day you can reprocess Or if it's been past that time depending on what the product is you can take those jars that had the false sail and put in the fridge and use them up in the next 30 to 60 days
Did my jars on saturday. They are unpopping today its tuesday. And tbey were sealed can i still eat them.
You can eat them. It sounds like faulty lids. Put them in the fridge and eat within a couple weeks.
I saw your video - canned up some hot spicy broth with beef and the seals did not take. When I reprocesses it; do I reheat the contents and put in the new jars or do I just put new lids and rings on it and reprocesses? Thank you in advance
you will but a new lid on the jar at room temp and place it in the canner with water at room temp. turn on the canner to warm the water and jar up at the same time. The the canner is boiling that is when you start the timer for the lenght it takes to procces
@@WisVeggieGardeners thank you!
Is it safe to reprocess in the hot water bath the jars the day after. My lids didn't seal.
Yes it is start with a new lid and everything at roo. Temperature put jar in water turn on stove start timer when water is boiling
Thank you so much
what a bummer... looks yummy
good info
I am boycotting ball and going to Kerr.
The Kerr name for home canning supplies is owned by the Newell (formerly Jarden) company, which also owns the Ball and Bernardin preserving supplies companies (info current as of 2016.)
Thank You 🤗
Thanks for this! I made loquat jam a couple of days ago and one of the jars didn't seal properly. When you say you need a new lid, can you boil the same lid to sterilise it and try again? My lids aren't 2-part.
what kind of lid do you use
@@WisVeggieGardeners just a normal screw / twist lid, all one piece.
@@chocomental I am not sure where your located here is the states the only safe way to can is to use a 2 piece lid the flat part the seals to the jar and the ring/band that you twist on
@@WisVeggieGardeners Interesting! I'm based in the UK, a lot of the jam jars here are sold with 1 piece lids.
