Before checking out the Omega Alive I highly suggest to watch KINGDOM OF HEAVEN pt1 Live in Mexico otherwise you might miss this incredible performance. They did KOH pt1 on Omega Alive so you won’t miss it if you’re going to watch the whole concert. 🌀🌀🌀🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍

@@cranboogie more precisely, this is a great live, but if you have already heard the song in studio quality. To get acquainted with this masterpiece for the first time, you need to watch the official lyric video or the omega alive version in order to appreciate the song itself ☺️

SO happy that you like my favorite band . Next to Nightwish, this female fronted band has been a long love of mine, ever since since their first album, The Phantom Agony. Enjoy the dive into their - quite substantial - body of work . And right now they are recording new material...so stay tuned :)
I think now you should try one of their power ballads. I recommend Rivers feat. Apocalyptica (from the AFAS concert) and Once Upon a Nightmare (from the Omerga Alive concert). But if you still want more upbeat ones you should check out Beyond the Matrix (both official live videos are very good), The Essence of Silence (again the official live video is excellent), Kingdom of Heaven part 3 (from the Omega Alive concert), Unchain Utopia (Omega Alive) and The Skeleton Key (again Omega Alive).

this song is still one of the group's most popular. But it's time to listen to some of the band's more recent material and more recent concerts. For example, something from the AFAS 2023 concert or just an hour ago Epica uploaded a streaming concert of 2021 OMEGA ALIVE (a concert without an audience during a pandemic) to UA-cam in maximum quality, choose any song, they’re all great 😁

Suggestion for next Epica songs: Kingdom of Heaven, parts 1 and 3, live from Omega Alive (their pandemic project, a concert recorded and filmed in a studio, later streamed and released).
Beautiful song, on of my most favourite.
There's another amazing live version from AFAS Live, which is 2023, ten years later than Retrospect. You can listen to it and compare. Simone's operatic voice is even better in the newer one.
At this point in the respective careers of the top Symphonic Metal bands, Epica is the one I would most like to see in the big venue-type show.
In smaller venues (US) , they cannot bring their full stage show to bear. (not talking orchestra, just the full giant video screens and pyro that are in the Euro shows).
This band delivers at the very highest level.

If you like the full symphony/choir and symphonic metal band with another remarkable female lead....add Within Temptation the Black Symphony live with the metropole orchestra and you'll have another rabbit hole lol. Another Dutch queen Sharon den Adel.
soon there will be a day, you are adicted to at least a song of nightwish or epica a day. 2nd half of this year 2 smilar concerts of epic in amsterdam or mexico, including coir and orcestra please join if you have the opportunity. There is more to find in this rabit hole ....
I love Unleashed!!! And this version with the orchestra and choir is so amazing-I really hope they’ll play it at the Symphonic Synergy show this fall! (It’s a full orchestra show they’re doing I Amsterdam this September, only two days, and there’s still tickets left for the 19th just saying)
Where to go next hm?? I’d recommend checking out some of their more recent live shows! This one was cool for the orchestra, but in general the more recent ones have much better quality and give you a look at how everyone’s skills have improved. Plus it’s super cool to see the sets!
Omega Alive-this was a full online concert they did during the pandemic, so no audience but they had a bunch of guest entertainers and some amazing sets. I especially recommend The Skeleton Key, which is just a beautifully theatrical and dynamic song, and Victims of Contingency.
Live at the AFAS Live-one of their most recent live shows, which they released several live recordings from on their channel. I recommend Rivers, an incredibly beautiful ballad-and this version features Apocalyptica on strings-and Beyond the Matrix, which is another one of their concert mainstays with some pretty fun crowd engagement!
Pol’and’Rock Festival-Epica uploaded the entire performance so there’s lots of great stuff to see! My favorites from the show are Code of Life and The Obsessive Devotion. Simone’s performance is just perfection and there’s some really funny interactions between the band.

GP, without being arrogant but really; for metal in every way you need to be in Europe and not in the US. (some exceptions like Metalica for example). Carry on GP, stil a long way to go with Nightwish, Epica, Sabaton, Within Temptation and many more. Great job man!
Really glad you discovered Epica. Their harder sound probably edges out Nightwish for me. But, if you want to get the full effect of this band, please watch the newer videos, the ones from their recent AFAS concert, the Omega Alive virtual concert, and the 2 song video of 'Unleashed' and 'Storm the Sorrow' from their 2014 appearance at Masters of Rock (especially high quality sound and Simone really shines). Without the distraction of the orchestra, you get to see how outstanding this band really is ...

@@keestervoort5856 Did I say the orchestra was bad? In fact that anniversary concert was great. What I'm pointing out, is that if you listen to Epica's performances that don't include an orchestra back up, you truly realize how good this band is!
Calling Epica your second NW sounds disrespectful to me.
Many people put them in the same category, but they are very different.
I love ALL the music from Epica and I don’t care about NW.
