    Tips I've learned (Mostly from Mr. JAMES HOFFMAN, thank you!) and tested to acquire the best espresso (so far):
    1. Only dry beans (oily beans clog the espresso machine)
    2. No dark roasted beans (they are burnt; usually to hide imperfections)
    3. The best taste occurs between 4-14 days from the time they are roasted (this is "resting the coffee" because the beans have to off-gas CO2)
    4. To avoid watery espresso, dial a low grind/fine size (1,2,3,4) and fresh beans (before 1 month of roast date), this produces a thicker espresso
    5. Lowest grind setting for DeLonghi Dinamica Plus machine is at a "3" (because any lower/finer chokes the machine)
    Thus, my optimal espresso Latte configuration is:
    -Five beans 🫘 (strongest intensity),
    - small ☕️ or medium size ☕️☕️ cup,
    -with dry medium-roasted beans, that were
    -roasted about 1-2 weeks ago
    -Vanilla Syrup (2 pumps or 1 table spoon for every small shot of espresso)
    -Half & Half Cream
    *pour cream until espresso resembles golden camphor burl wood

    Best purchase ever! I was not a coffee drinker until after i bought this. My favorite is the flat white and latte macchiato. I either sprinkle some sugar on top or add some sugar free syrup before brewing. Easy clean up. So happy with this product.

    I am learning SO much from your channel! I’m looking to get my first espresso machine and I’ve been going nuts between things like the Juras, and I’m even looking at the more “manual” machines like the Synchronica. But This one actually looks like it would be a terrific first machine for me!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +4

      Hey vegasplayer, you're right in that it's a good starter machine. It won't have the flair of Jura or the customizability of some of the Gaggia machines, but the price point will certainly be lower. If you're interested in an entry-level "manual" machine (we refer to them as semi-automatic machines), check out the Gaggia Classic Pro. This type of machine generally takes a little more work on the user's part to dial in your variables (instead of simply pressing a button like on the Delonghi), and requires a separate grinder, but the results you can get are undeniable. Here's a recording of a live stream we did featuring the Classic Pro, part of what we consider the best value entry level home espresso machine and grinder combo: ua-cam.com/video/jzvi36qbfhY/v-deo.html

    I have this cofee machine. It's awesome. Nice adjustable foam, definitely visible change of how strong the coffee will be for the different types of coffee (a lot of adjustments for each taste). Simple cleaning (you can take out brew unit and reach almost all places for cleaning instead of grinder). I recommend a dinamica plus where you have touch screen and app for remote management (via Bluetooth). Two cons: you can't skip cleaning process on each wake up (even when you use app) so you have to change cups before you start doing cofee and second you can't change how many shots of coffee you want.

    Can you froth milk on it's own without making a drink?
    I know the other section is for pre-ground coffee, but could you put pre-ground tea in there?

      @Wholelattelovepage  Рік тому

      Hi LP, Thanks for the comment and questions. Yes, you can create milk froth only. Pre-ground tea in the coffee bypass doser is not something we've tried. It's outside of prescribe use for the doser so cannot recommend. Best is to use machine's hot water only function for making tea.

    Hi, really enjoy your videos..... in reading your response to some of the questions asked, it’s clear that you tend to prefer the Gaggia Cadorna prestige over the Dinamica. Given the complexity of these machines, reliability is always a concern. What has been your experience in dealing with both manufacturers. Also, how do both models compare price wise? Thank you.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Peter, thanks for the questions. With proper maintenance as recommended by the manufacturers, these machines can last many, many years. We regularly get reports of machines with 15,000+ brew cycles on them. Of course, there are always exceptions, which is where warranties can help give peace of mind should something go wrong. Delonghi has a 2-year limited warranty through them. As an authorized warranty repair center for Gaggia, we know these machines inside and out and are able to offer a 2-year parts and labor warranty in-house. Prices often change based on promotions, but currently the Dinamica with Lattecrema is $1,200 and the Cadorna Prestige is $1,700.

    How often do you have to descale? One review I read on a retail site that sell this machine said it makes a request to descale every 10 days. This would certainly discourage me from purchasing this machine. Because If I I'm trying to get to work, I can't spend 45 minutes descaling before getting my coffee.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Рік тому +1

      Hi Angela, Thanks for the question. Only way I see descaling every 10 days is if the machine were brewing 50-100 cups everyday! Descaling frequency is based on source water hardness and use of a water filter in the machine. With filter use and water of average minersal hardness descaling frequency is likely in the 400-800 brew cycle range.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi, great helpful video. How do I increase the temp, I like it quite hot? Plus,
    I put beans in the ground coffee hopper, by mistake, removed I think all from the tray, though I’m hearing a sound when making my coffee (have used the bean hopper now) as though a bean is flying around in the machine - damage/removal?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Рік тому

      Hi Gaile, Super-automatic machines generally brew at 195-205F internally. Temp cools as the espresso/coffee moves from brewing to your cup. Cools quite rapidly when it leaves the coffee spouts and goes into your cup. And, if your cup is cold and big it cools even more. Know that most coffee tasters want a temp of 150F or below when tasting. As beverages get hotter flavor is harder to perceive. Tactics for hotter temps include pre-heating your cup, microwave to raisew temp after brewing and you can run a blank prep through the machine prior to making actual beverage. Usually accomplish that by selecting to brew a drink using pre-ground coffee and not putting any pre-ground coffee in the machine.
      For accidental beans in the hopper: in most cases beans should be expelled from the brewing chamber without issue. If still hearing odd sounds I'd remove the brew unit from the machine and makes sure all beans are cleared from brewing chamber.

      Hi Sophie, to adjust temperature, press the gear icon to enter the settings menu, scroll to "general" then "set temperature". From there you can select low, medium, high, or maximum with the arrow keys, then press "ok" to save it. I don't believe there is a way to turn off the rinse cycle as it is designed to keep everything clean, but it should only perform it automatically when the machine is turned on or off. I generally keep a cup nearby and rinse into that so I don't have to empty the drip trap as often.

    Lots of love expressed here for the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige which wasn't on my short list...but is now. Biggest concern is the maximum dose size of 10.5 grams. Coming from a Delonghi model with a maximum dose of 16 grams (and I always use the maximum dose) will I find the espresso from the Cadorna too weak for my taste? Anyone former Delonghi owners our there who have made the switch to Gaggia? Any thoughts?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Claudia, if you find that to be the case, you can brew double shots on the Cadorna Prestige and it will grind/tamp/brew two full cycles. If you set the volume to the minimum and the strength to the maximum, you'll end up using 23g coffee for 2 total ounces, which is a higher dose than is generally used by professional baristas using commercial equipment. Hope this helps!

      I guess that makes perfect sense. I like to do 2 max shots - 2 x16 grams with with a 2 x 2 oz (60ml) pour . So I end up with a 4oz/120ml of espresso from 32 grams of coffee. With the Gaggia it would be 1 x double shot for 23 grams on 2oz of water + 1 x a single shot at say 10grams on 2oz of water for a total of 33grams in 4oz of espresso. So same thing in the end. Of course, with the Dinamica you can also do a double shot and program the water so it would be the same outcome with ONE press of the button instead of two. But I am not THAT lazy if the results are better. Also like the fact that the milk comes out hotter on the Gaggia - Mark's review said it was around 155 degrees vs 140 for the Delonhi. I steam my own now and its always in the 150-160 range. Also like your suggestion below that the iced feature on the Delonghi is really not much different then running an extra strong shot of espresso at low brew temp, which sounds like a good work-around. Hey one more question - any idea if the Gaggia does well with non-dairy milks? The Delonghi sells this point on the Lattecrema system specifically in its promotional material. I use almond milk to avoid dairy allergies. Almond milk - if you find the right brand - works amazingly well for manual frothing at least. Now, last question...promise. It is a fairly big jump in price from the Dinamica to the Cadorna. Is the coffee that much better to justify it?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Lynn, I haven't gotten my hands on the Dinamica Plus yet, but it looks like that model adds a nicer color touch screen display, more drink options (such as a full pot of coffee) and app control to customize drinks from your smartphone. It appears that some models of the Plus may have also gotten rid of the iced coffee option, while others have it. We're expecting the have the Dinamica Plus in stock in August or September and will be doing a full review video of it at that point. Until the new one comes, I personally give a slight edge to the Cadorna Prestige. I enjoy the user profiles, one-touch americanos, proper double shot flat whites, and XL milk drinks to go. The Dinamica is a solid machine, but for me the Cadorna has all of the same features and more.

    What can you say about the cleaning of the inner system? As you probably know most of the automated expresso machines have this problem with mold coffee in the inner system. How easy can this machine be cleaned?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Sergiu, regular cleaning helps prevent this issue and Delonghi is straight forward with their cleaning procedures. The Dinamica performs an automatic rinse cycle any time it's powered on or off, which helps clear out the internal circuit. There is a removable brew group (referred to by Delonghi as the infuser) that you should remove and clean once a month by soaking in water for 5 minutes then rinsing with warm water (no soap). The descaling process is straight forward and prompts you when to do it. The place I most often see mold in super-autos is inside the dreg drawer when spent coffee pucks have been left to sit for a while. This can be solved by emptying the drawer more regularly, or if you do encounter old/moldy pucks, a quick rinse/spray with the faucet cleans it out easily.

      Hey Paul, I've personally never used the Dinamica Plus, but it looks like it adds the touchscreen and app control (as you mentioned), as well as the option to brew a full pot of coffee. It also seems they removed the iced coffee feature, so something to consider if you want that option. Other than those different drinks, everything else should be the same internally and drink quality will be identical. Looks like there's about a $500 difference, so it all depends how much you value those luxury features. Personally, if I was going to get into that price bracket, I'd probably look at the JURA ENA 8.

      Hi Courtney, as you mentioned the benefits of the DeLonghi are the price difference and iced coffee (though the current price difference is $500 on our web site). It also has 18 pre-programmed drinks to the Cadorna Prestige's 14, yet I found the Cadorna's drink list to have more real-world relevance to what most people would choose. The Cadorna Prestige wins pretty much everywhere else - better screen, user profiles, one-touch americanos, swapping milk order preparation, etc. Drinks likely won't taste extremely different on the two, but for convenience, and user experience, I would consider the Cadorna Prestige the better machine.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Sebastiano, the Dinamica has two options - one they call "coffee," which is essentially a much longer pull through the grounds, as shown in the video. The other is called "long," which will likely be closer to what you're looking for. For this, they use a pulse brewing method at a lower pressure to simulate drip filter coffee. It'll also pause in the middle to grind a second time. This preparation takes longer, but does a pretty good job at creating something closer to filter coffee.

I watched your video on using the Dinamica but noticed you adjusted the coffee grind mill when the machine was idle BUT in the manual says “the grinding adjustment dial must only be turned when the coffee mill is in the initial phase of coffee preparation”. Which is the grind cycle I believe. This has me confused ??
    Also if you choose cappuccino + is the milk milk dosage change automatically to give the correct ratio of espresso to hot milk to milk foam (1/3 : 1/3 : 1/3) ?
    I have subscribed to your channel so that I can lean more about been a home barista.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Рік тому

      Hi Andy, Manufacturers keep things simple in the manuals to help prevent end-use issues. It's okay to adjust the grind to a coarser setting without the grinder running. When adjusting finer the grinder should be grinding. The two grinding burrs move closer together when adjusting finer. If grinder is not running beans can be crushed between them. Forcing things can damage adjustment components or bind the burrs.
      I'll need to check for sure but I beleive the Capp+ adds more espresso to the drink so the ratio changes.

The manual that I received was a multi lingual version and the English translation seems to have some holes in it when trying to follow re-programming logic e.g. although the machine is preprogrammed to produce different products no where does it specify what the make up or ratios for each finished product, I can only guess that the cappuccino and cappuccino + ratios are 1/3 1/3 1/3. @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +3

      Hey 4wolverines,
      Love the Cadorna Prestige. IMO the Cadorna line are the best superauto machines of the year. The Dinamica with LatteCrema is great, and certainly an improvement over the previous version, but the Cadorna Prestige is in another weight class. That said, you'll pay more for it - around $500 right now. The Dinamica wins with its adjustable milk froth and iced coffee feature, but the Cadorna Prestige wins in user interface, drink selection, customizability, and user profiles. I didn't dig a ton into the cleaning on the Dinamica other than the quick carafe clean show in the video, which is a nice feature. We've been using the Cadorna Prestige as our daily driver in the studio for many months and use/maintenance is simple. Very clear maintenance menus for quick milk clean, deep milk clean, descaling, and brew group cleaning. I haven't done direct side by side drink comparison, but straight espresso should similar for be each, Cadorna's ability to flip milk/espresso preparation order gives you more options and better quality in cup for some milk-based beverages, and the one-touch americano is a great option. Cadorna will also grind/tamp/brew twice for double espresso/ristretto/lungo/coffee, which the Dinamica won't, so it wins there if you're making two drinks at once.

      No wifi on this, but the updated DInamica Plus model can use bluetooth connected to an app. Not sure about Siri capability though.

    Thank you for the informative video and thank you for everything you guys do. Quick question... does this machine make an americano?

    • @estellv
      @estellv 3 роки тому +1

      Americano is just espresso shot and water. You can add water after getting espresso shot.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Robert, as Grace mentioned, this machine can make an Americano in two steps - brew your espresso shot, then dispense hot water over it. Some machines like the Gaggia Cadorna line can do this process with one button.

    Anyone have suggestions for setting up the Dinamica LatteCrema for the first time, i.e., running hot water through the system to clear out impurities?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому

      Hi Jeffrey, as with any superauto, you'll want to pull several shots through the machine when you set it up for the first time before drinking any. Don't worry about if these look weak or discolored, that's normal. The machine will perform an automatic rinse every time it is turned on or off, which helps keep the system clean. For some other best practices for new machines, check out this video we posted last week: ua-cam.com/video/NVIvXHVN1F8/v-deo.html

    When making milk drinks like a Flat white or Cafe au Lait does the Dinamica do the espresso first and the milk froth second or visa-versa?

      Pre-heating your cups with hot water will go a long way to making your overall drink hotter. Also using the hottest brewing temperature.

    Does this machine get the milk temperature decent or not too hot?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Рік тому +1

      Hi s, Depends on what you consider decent. Most bean to cup automatics with frothing will heat milk to near 140F/60C which is optimum for best milk flavor - milk's sweetest point due to heating. That's the temp well trained baristas froth to. For those who like it hotter it's best to go with a machine which froths manually so user has complete control of finished temperature.

    May I know what is the best volume and aroma setting for each drink to get the best flavour of the beans.
    How to know from the cup of espresso to see whether the machine extract perfect espresso as I do not know how to taste the perfect espresso. Able to get video on De’Longhi Dinamica plus review?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 роки тому

      Hi Bryant. Tastes will be completely subjective. The perfect espresso for you will not be the perfect espresso for someone else. In general though, you're looking for a complimentary balance of sweetness, bitterness, and acidity. Some people prefer eathy, nutty, chocolatey flavor profiles, while others prefer light and fruity ones. Regardless of your beans or preferences, a good place to start on super-automatic machines is a 2oz/60ml shot of espresso, using the finest grind, highest strength/aroma and hottest temperature, and adjust from there based on taste.

    Is there a version of this model that has a larger milk reservoir?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 роки тому

      Hi Sabrina, Not aware of a larger milk reservoir. You might be interested in Jura machines which use a pick up tube for milk. You could drop the tube into anything holding milk or they have countertop refrigerated milk supplies.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  10 місяців тому

      Hi b, Machines like this which froth automatically produce milk temps of 125-140F/52-60C when starting with milk straight from the fridge. That's the sweet point of milk flavor due to heating and the temp a well trained barista froths to for best flavor. That said, I understand some like it hotter. Tips for higher milk temps: Preheat cups, let milk warm up a little before use.

    Question about the materials the hot liquids are exposed to. Are they stainless steel or is it mostly plastic tubing, etc? If plastic, are you aware of any similar machines which use stainless for materials contacting the hot liquids?

    Hi, I appreciate all of your videos. I am debating between this machine and the Gaggia Anima Prestige Espresso Machine. (iced coffee is not a must have for me. The front loading of milk water and coffee beans drew me to this machine vs top loading) I do make milk coffee drinks so this is key for me. Which product do you think is best overall? Thank you in advance

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hey jburgand, they're both good machines. Both feature the separate milk carafe, quick clean capabilities, and a number of other similarities. The Dinamica will give you more capacity in your bean hopper and more grind settings. One of the biggest difference is in the number of programmed drink specialties - the Dinamica comes with 18 while the Anima only has 6. That said, you'll pay for those extra features, as the Dinamica with LatteCrema is currently $400 more than the Anima Prestige. Comes down to personal preference, but if it's in your budget I like the versatility of the Dinamica.

    Amazon reviews include comments that the milk frothing system does not get the milk hot enough and it cannot be adjusted to a high enough temp. Any suggestions for overcoming this or corrections to this ding on what otherwise, seems like a great machine? Some reviewers said they heated their milk in the microwave before using it.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Barbara, I found the milk from the Dinamica on par with most other superautomatic machines, and I consider it an appropriate temperature. Some people prefer their milk hotter, but milk's "sweet spot" is around 140F (60C). Any hotter than that and you start to burn the milk and lose sweetness. If you want a hotter drink, you can pre-warm your cup and/or increase your brewing temperature for the espresso. Getting a machine with a manual frothing wand also allows you to better control milk temperature if you want it hotter.
