    For less than the price of a fuel fill-up, you could purchase a windscreen for your microphone, and we could hear that great radial sound. I like the video -- on mute, though.

    I commend your determination and courage to maiden the Hellcat on a windy day. Not sure I would've done it but that's just me.

    • @LouCetrangelo
      @LouCetrangelo  2 роки тому

      It was probably a bad decision. I was only considering that the wind was pretty much down the runway. I didn't realize how turblent it was. It was a good day though.

      @@LouCetrangelo as I'm sure you know, the warbirds are so unforgiving. I live in central Texas and wind is just a fact of life here. Still I usually wait for calmer days to bring out the warbirds. Good luck to you though.

    Incredible build. I can't believe that the tail wheel retracts too. You mentioned flaps- it doesn't REALLY have working flaps, does it?? I mean, you're not doing carrier ops with ammo and armor, are you?

    Very nice Lou. Love the Hellcat. One of my favorites. Nice job on the maiden flight. You might try using Klotz synthetic oil as it tends to burn more completely than others. Saito recommends it in their FG-84 r3 radial. Tower Hobbvies has it.

    • @LouCetrangelo
      @LouCetrangelo  10 років тому +2

      Thanks. Actually I am using Bel-Ray MC1. It is a synthetic 2 stoke oil and can be mixed from 50 to 80:1 I find that it runs very clean in my other engines and have been using it for about 4 years with great results. Until it breaks in Moki Radials will turn any 2 stoke oil black and leave a lot of residue. I am familiar with Klotz and used to use it on my fist gas engine. Most of use use Amsoil now but I prefer the Bel-Ray because it runs so clean with much lower carbon build up.

    Hi Bill now I wished I did. I noticed that there is a small spider web under the canopy. I recently sold it to my good friend Peter Goldsmith. Maybe we will see it fly in Top Gun soon.

  • @billbright1755
    @billbright1755 7 років тому

    Like the tri / color, a power slide canopy would be cool.
    The early roundel had a red border surround.
    R 2800 Pratt and Whitney 2000 H.P. Six wing mount fifties convergent fire aimed for 400 yards.
    Were very hard on Zeros.
    Awesome flying field, plenty of room.
    With my electric flyer though just 15 minutes at full power would often have flights of two hours or more on thermals. Some times got so high if I lost sight it scared me. It had a jettison-able pilot with chute that my young boys would retrieve.

    This is only RC Hellcat on Utube with "proper" 3-blade prop😊 My only comment would be that white stripe on the tail, which is of the CAG of USS Enterprise, except, I think the direction of the slant should be to the leading edge of tail, rather than to the trailing edge, to be 100% consistent😊 Beautiful model, my compliments 👍

    • @LouCetrangelo
      @LouCetrangelo  3 роки тому

      I used the Hellcat that is currently hanging at the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center in Washington DC for my color and markings. I believe that it was on the USS Yorktown at one time. I didn't know there was a similar color scheme for the USS Enterprise.

    • @LouCetrangelo

      Thanks Bill. I didn't expect it to rev up at that point. Actually with the big Solo prop it's hard on the blades to flip start it. I used a big starter after that. I really enjoyed the build though. I'm now working an 100" T-28 now of my own design.

    Sure sounded like it fired up & had a cylinder that was dead. Black oil is not what you want to see coming out the exhaust. 😕

    • @LouCetrangelo
      @LouCetrangelo  3 роки тому +2

      Yes that is true in most cases. This was my second Moki. The first one is a 215cc in a Stearman. Until they have a few hours to break in the exhaust is very dirty. It comes out as thick black oil. It was funny on the first flight of my Stearman my buddy was straddling over the stab as i ran it up. I tried out the smoke pump and all the black oil came out of the collector ring on to the grass and his new sneakers. It left the outline of his sneakers on a black background that stayed for weeks. Not to mention ruining a good pair of shoes. 😬
