- Today we jump back into the 1 v 1 ranked arena! We have been playing quite a few of these this season and our ranking is not doing too shabby! Can we keep climbing the leaderboards...?

Why did you decide to road settle at @7:10 mark instead of a city on the 5910? Is the thought process to deny him of the square or to have 3 ore off of rolling 6 to ensure a subsequent city? Is that worth forgoing doubling production on 11 pips? Love your videos!

I disagree with the 5910.
Your opponent can take 694 with the 569. 569 road points up to the 5810 which you can't take. Although you will get 6311, your opponents production will overwhelm yours after their quick cities.
I would take 569 here. If you don't get the 5910, you can still pair it with a strong wheat spot. Even 458 to the wheat port isn't terrible.
Brick has significantly higher value in 1v1 than classic catan. OWS is pretty bad as well..
@@thistamndypo I agree in general. In this instance 20pips of OWS plus 4 pips of wood, plus the 5810 equals a winning setup. 5910 loses on the spot to this.
Any setup where you are forced to 4:1 is inefficient. You can double city quickly and then you're stuck 4:1ing multiple times for brick.
If red took 649 and 569 then TheWanderer can take 845 pointing to the wheat port. He will have to 4:1for sheep once, but it's smooth sailing from there. If the 569 player points up expecting to get 8-10-5 his road will be wasted.
I see your point here! Do you think the 8 4 5 to the wheat port would be sufficient enough production (with unblockable wheat) to combat the 694, 569? They would also lose the 8 5 10 expansion as they most likely point up?
@@TheWandererCatanAbsolutely. The 649 + 569 player is doomed without brick or expansion spots. Meanwhile the entire lower half of the board is yours.
Well 1v1 are just not interesting for me ... 1 person is always dominating and game is just not fun to watch
I completely understand! Not all 1v1's are just 1 person dominating, but the majority of my videos at this stage will be my Road to Top 100 series in the 4 player version 😊
Somehow 4 player games are so much more interesting.
I think watching a game objectively is definitely more interesting! You lose the nuances around trading in 1v1, and it's very dice and robber influenced. I do enjoy the faster pace of the 1v1 though!
