- SHMonsterarts or SHMA has been the most popular and the most sophisticated toyline when it comes to 6 inch godzilla action figures. And they don't come cheap. So naturally bootleg figures will always pop up based on their design. And fans really don't mind since they sell for less than 80% of the original price. Mechagodzilla 2021 being such an expensive but such a popular figure is definitely one of those that fans are hoping to have a bootleg figure. So today we are going to compare them and see if its worth buying.

From what everyone has said about this figure I’d say the trade offs seem worth the price for this figure over the SHMA, or at least for me it does. As a customizer, I’d rather buy something that’s so close to just as good than spend 5 times more for a figure that’s actually a bit disappointing as it comes
Yes. Definitely. 😊 Although it is important to consider the gimmicks the original has. It is a bit hard (considering the small size) to custom them onto the bootleg once molded already. But of course, it still is bang for the buck for what it offers without it.
@@TheHowbbyist that’s a good point. It might be possible to make the gimmicks yourself. I was able to give my playmates figure the chest and shoulder missiles using pegs pieces, so doing the same with this one could be doable
@@TheHowbbyist I noticed the forearms look to be on the wrong arms, because the side with two square panels is supposed to be on the outside. Would it be possible to pop the arms off and switch them around?
@@artsy_dragon_creations wow! Good eye! Thank you for pointing that out! Yes I can confirm the forearm is switched up. Unfortunately, the forearm is glued to the hinge joint. Pulling it would mess up the hinge joint for sure. If I would guess the hinge joint need to be pryed out from the bicep to keep it intact. But huge thanks for pointing that flaw out! 😍
The bootleg seems alright aside from the tail coming off but the Og one is a bit better Gud vid as always man

I still recommend the bootleg if you don’t have a lot of money but original has gimmicks that you should probably pick up so it’s your decision

Bought this instead of the sh monsterarts and had a fun time repainting it and making it more movie accurate so I'm glad there's an alternative

Hahaha! Yeah it was not packaged and handled properly. Thankfully there is a plastic case inside the box to protect the figure. 😅

Thats actually good for a bootleg figure. Just need to give it a paint wash to make the mettalic look better.
Hello. If you look closely, the forearms on your bootleg are on the wrong arms. The forearm is supposed to have an armor plate that slightly overlaps the elbow hinge on the outside. Yours has those plates, but they are on the inside of the arms. If you can figure out how to swap the forearms you'll have a more movie accurate bootleg

Some bootleg figures come with features the originals dont come with, like the bootleg shma g21 came with an atomic breath piece

Wait ur figure (besides the cool ooking repaint u did) did u rebuilt his leg hydraulics? Or did it come like that im confused! Cause I got the real SHMA mecha godzilla and it came with the straight hydraulics

The only problem with this figure that I notice most people have is the right forearm is the left forearm and the left forearm is the right forearm.
Just bought the shma bootleg mg 2 days later it broke idk how i think i hold his tail many times but i jsut loveit still
Did you ever get or purchased a bootleg that looked similar to a Showa King Ghidorah figure?
I mean the King Ghidorah from those old 60’s -70’s Godzilla movies?
I got a Showa KG by accident or did I get scammed?
I thought I had ordered a bootleg King Ghidorah 2019 because that’s what auction title said on Ebay.
It cost me $40 USD plus $10 USD shipping grand total $50 USD.
It arrived in a Styrofoam box, and it smelled awful (fuel of some kind) or to be honest, I let it air out on my patio outside for two days before opening it. The figure was painted like SHMA King Ghidorah 2019 that dark tan color but I was totally surprised and happy when I realized
It’s a Showa King Ghidorah from 60’s-70’s !!!
That SKG is the best looking and functional bootleg I have ever seen, I still have it with all my SHMA / NECA figures - Kaiju collection !
I even did a review on it. I hope you will check it out and give me your thoughts on it.

I love the solidness and the tiny lil gimmicks on the official figure, but for the cheap price of the bootleg, its actually worth it
And since I custom repainted it, it looked so much better than the original
So if anyone dont wanna break their bank account, bootlegs seems reasonable

We used to have an online toy shop. We bought all our figures pre order from our local distributor. Today it would be difficult to find old releases since most of them are sold out. I suggest checking your local Godzilla fan group to see if one goes on sale.

My mecha looks a bit different than yours, it doesnt have that red on the arms and on those small parts on the chest. Im not sure if you customized yours or not. But my isnt a bootleg for sure

Bootlegs don't have a "company". It's hit or miss. I would still suggest getting the original Bandai SH Monsterarts.
Which one is more heavy?
The original SHMA is heavier because it has diecast metal parts. The bootleg is all plastic. 😉

I just ordered the one the first one on the video and the reason why I bite it. I just wanted to make sure it had everything that I wanted that I had like all rotated body parts or robot parts whatever you call it we’re gonna have to figure it out. If it has everything that I want then I’m keeping if it don’t then I’m sending it back.

There was just a sort of a problem. The ankles did not move, but the bottom it like goes like to lift and right in the little hinge. It works the thing I just want it’s where his body and those little things to pop up. Is this mega Godzilla? I read it as a nine out of 10 I mean I’m not saying it was bad, but it looks bad ass.

Your SHMA MG looks like it has custom pistons.
Yup! 😊 The original pistons are limiting the leg movement too much. And the risk of breaking the pistons are quite high. So we decided to replace them instead. You can check our video on how to remove and replace them here.

I think so. The previous Ghidorah versions have their own bootleg figures so I'm guessing in time the monsterverse Ghidorah should have one too

Is shma mecha godzilla bad or good cool?
Its good. A lot of cool gimmicks compared to the bootleg. The pistons on the thigh limit the articulation and can break easily so I removed them. I have a video explaining why and how to remove the pistons. Its is quite expensive for what it offers. But pretty cool figure if you have the money to buy one.
