I love watching Dark Shadows....Adam was so good looking!
I am 66 and watching Dark Shadows for the first time since my teen years. Right now, Adam is coming into the story. All I can say is Robert Rodan is so handsome, and like the fully developed Adam, he is also very articulate.
Me too!
I am watching the whole series now also, totally enjoying! Adam is on the scene now!!
i'll FOREVER be a dark shadows fan!!
Robert was a rare Dark Shadows cast member in that he only was on the show a few months as Adam. All the other major cast members played various characters in various time periods. I ofter wondered why.
Apart from his other assets as an actor, Robert Rodan has a GREAT speaking voice. I would have loved to see -- and hear -- him do classical theater.
I loved Robert Rodan as Adam. His "Beauty and the Beast" storyline with Caroline was one of my favorites.
He was a gorgeous man!
Robert was so good as Adam and still so handsome. I wish they had written another part for him later.
Yeah, Like in parallel time in which him and Carolyn would be together.
What a classy guy. He seems to be an okay fellow. I am happy to see him looking so healthy and decent.
UPDATE 3/27/2021: (RIP) ROBERT RODAN WHO HAS RECENTLY PASSED AWAY AS OF MARCH 2021. HE PLAYED THE CHARACTER OF "ADAM," ON THE GOTHIC/ROMANCE TV SERIES DARK SHADOWS WHICH AIRED ON ABC-TV FROM 1966-1971. HE HAD BEEN IN POOR HEALTH FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS.
So sad to read about this, but thanks for the update.
With his voice, he would have been great in radio.😢
I remember being so mad at Willie for teasing Adam with that chicken leg!!! Funny that Robert mentioned that scene. 😄
Holly B I know!!!That chicken leg scene was awful!!🍗 I always wondered how they kept from laughing during taping.
Willie deserved it. Teasing Adam that way.
Yes, Willie is one of my favorite characters, but I hated him when he tormented Adam!
It was memorable.
His acting was good, better than most -- frankly the better actors never went much more forward as actors -- especially his endearing scenes with Carolyn Stoddard (Nancy Barrett) : "Please, Carolyn. Stay. Talk with me".
💜💜💜💜
There are MANY Reasons Why ACTORS don't go forward in their career----Typecasting, Hollywood Homophobia, Not doing the "casting couch", etc, etc. It's not always a lack of talent.
Thanks for posting these fascinating interviews with Dark Shadows actors. I'm working my way through the Dark Shadows complete episode DVD collection right now. And have just started to view the "Adam" storyline. Interviews like this one really add to the enjoyment of the show. He seems very intelligent and well-spoken. I was very impressed by how he describes studying for the part.
I loved his character, I really felt sorry for his character and how he was treated but loved Adam, and his storyline was very sad to me but he did an awesome job, he looks great.
Beautiful speaking voice Actor Robert Roden has very smooth & deep: I felt for his legendary DS's character ADAM so lost didn't know who to really trust. Thank goodness for Professor Stokes (played by the brilliant Thayer David) ..."coming to Adam's aide yet still "trail & error" came but our Frankenstein Adam finally realized Prof. Stokes was indeed a Life long friend & that Nicholas Blair (evil to the core) was not.
The person who disliked this video must be an Eve fan.
He was a sexy hunk - with train tracks on his face. Hated the way Willie and Eve treated him.
I loved Willie but I hated the way he treated Adam.
Good job man. I loved that show, major, major part of my youth and it taught me some really great words when I was 12, words like fortitude, so many great words I learned from Dark Shadows that I would use in my poems latter on in life.
I am now 64, and I remember "Dark Shadows" with great fondness. The BIG episodes always got talked about excitedly at school the next day ("DID YOU SEE WHAT ANGELIQUE DID TO BARNABAS YESTERDAY?"), so that, in an odd way, it was a communal viewing experience, even though my friends and I never actually watched it together. As Mr. Rodan's interview makes clear, this show didn't lack for intelligent people on both sides of the camera (Lara Parker in particular was clearly one sharp cookie), which is, I suspect, one of the reasons for its longevity. It REALLY cheeses me when I read generalized descriptions of the show in TV digests that refer to it as "campy". It was nothing of the sort; EVERYONE in the successive stories took what they were doing with deadly seriousness, tongues very definitely NOT in cheek. (Revisit the Adam West-Burt Ward "Batman" series, if you want a perfect example of camp that's 99% pure). To all surviving "Dark Shadows" people, near and far: thank you. You gave your fans one hell of a ride.
Yes one hell of a ride!😃
And we are still riding!
I love Adam!!!
His IMDb & Wikipedia biographies are very short. It looks like he only did a couple of movies & TV appearances. What else did he do? Stay in acting? Different career?
He left acting to become a successful real estate investor. He was very active with several corporations in California. He did stay involved with Dark Shadows by appearing at Dark Shadows' festivals and appeared in some audio versions.
RIP Adam
He was a good looking man!!!
Robert mentions a grip seen on camera with his pants half-down. I believe I have seen the blooper he's referring to, but I cannot find the episode in which it occurs. The scene is in the Collinwood foyer and the grip has his back to the camera and is on his knees in front of the Drawing Room doors. He is seen in the background between 2 characters who are speaking to each other. Does anyone remember seeing this and what episode it occurs? Thanks.
Great interview!
I remember when Robert appeared as a contestant on The Dating Game. Ironically, I do not believe he was chosen!
I started watching Dark Shadows when the Adam character was introduced
So what happened with Adam? He came back to Prof. Stokes, who said the scars could be easily removed. Then suddenly Carolyn is getting involved with Chris Jennings. Wherever Adam disappeared to, as long as he was still alive, Barnabas would never be a vampire again. I've been binging on DS on tubi and have gone through all the eps (1125) at least ten (or more?) times, in less than 2 years! It's seems the Adam storyline was just dropped and he was never mentioned again. Or have I totally missed something?
No, Nanci, you didn't miss anything. Sadly, episode 636 was Adam's last appearance on the show. They never brought him back or explained where he went or why. Professor Stokes told Adam they could get surgery for his scars and we all expected to then see devastatingly handsome Adam, but it never happened. :(
@@larose1208 Maybe Robert Rodan just wanted off the show? Like with Maggie, when they sent her off to Windcliff and was never seen again. At least they gave Victoria an ending. Too bad they didn't do that with the present day 1970-71 storylines.
A fellow Greek-American!
Adam is fine!
He was the cutest Frankenstein ever.
Robert Rodan was the ideal choice for playing Adam.
Adam developed a crush on Carolyn.
She did not return his affection that way.
Adam was a nice character
I used to get so upset when people taunted Adam.
its a pity, that as intelligent as mr rodan is, the part didn't allow him to do more with the character
It was also his only character. He did not take part in any of the past centuries or parallel time episodes.
Adam played that character of Adam masterfully. Incredible actor.
