Those writers have been on the DA project for 10 years, some have even said "I've been at BioWare for 19years", another stated he was at BioWare for 20years, 10 years of those periods were spent fucking around on Veilguard to make it what it is. They got fired and it was well deserved, too bad it didn't happen sooner because then maybe we would have gotten the Dragon Age game we always wanted.
Still cashed in for 10 years with heft salaries. Treating it as their personal playground.
EA needs a culling for how they oversaw the project. The game is crap because it's crap, but it took 10 years because EA kept completely redefining the game. It was going to be multi-player live service slop for like a third of its development cycle.
EA was responsible for the game being delayed all this time not Bioware.
@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc EA didn't write the shitty ass story, EA didn't write the shitty characters. 10 years BioWare had to write a decent story and characters, and they did nothing but fuck around for all that time collecting paycheck after paycheck and now they've moved on to other jobs which wouldn't surprise me if they already had lined up before the release of veilguard. EA is good for one thing and one thing only, being greedy, they didn't like losing boat loads of money to this woke BS.
Rats, locust, a disease, call them whatever you want. All apply.
I go with cancer
He may have written Mordin and Tali, but those were almost a decade ago, under a completely different leadership.
If anything this is proof that people can change their writing styles for the worse, and the culture/superiors also influence how much freedom someone has to write crazy sh*t. That's how we got Taash.
As I'm to understand it, Weekes wrote ME3 Mordin (where he was far more boring), ME2 and 3 Tali where her character baseline was already established, and he co-wrote Solas with heavy input from Gaider. So all of his greatest hits were very much moderated by others. On his own he wrote Bull, who has conversations and banters about how valid and brave Krem the trans man is, Cole, who has conversations and banters about how valid and brave Krem the trans man is, and Krem, who is a valid and brave trans man. And those were just as a cog in the writer's room. When given the highest writing position...he wrote Taash.
What more needs to be said?
@joshualuke7003 His writing recently seems so extremely amateurish that even kids would find it bland.
But then again, knowing his ideology pushing I wouldn't trust him to cater to children.
I genuinely think that Weekes is going through mid-life crisis and instead of seeking therapy, he gets 'yes, sir'd' every single time a stupid idea pops in that blue haired head of his... heck, before even he dyed his hair blue. That's what happens when you live in a bubble of like-minded individuals, sadly. No push back, just a constant stream of: "yes, honey", "you can do this!", "it's brilliant!" you are brilliant"... And sure, he was brilliant... over 10 years ago.
Corrine Busche is apparently now working at Wizards of the Coast. At "Skeleton Key". (Which is incredible in the worst kind of way.)
Combined with all of these weirdos becoming moderators, Archetype following them on Twitter etc...
I am somehow now worried about Exodus.
I know! I will talk about it on tomorrow's stream...
@masha22092000r
Oh, I'm not worried at all! I can safely write them off until people I respect inform me otherwise.
Oh fuck me. Larian got out just in time then. This more than anything else (and there's a LOT of "else) pretty much convinces me that D&D that I know and love is gone. Woohoo Another growing up/coming of age marker of mine she's destroying. Lovely.
Now you are worried? Wizards are a shell of what they were. Don't need to look further than the newest DnD edition to see that
My worry is it is BG4 the game that Larian turned down. That would be a nightmare.
Corrine Busch just got a new Director job with WOTC for their Skeleton Key Studios. These people get to fail upwards. It's ridiculous.
God, how. The last game he directed just flopped HARD and a lot of that can be tracked back directly to him.
@@joshualuke7003 nepotism
I was actually starting to wonder if any kind of action was gonna be taken so I’m glad to see the layoffs man
They are working in an echo chamber that represent a very small percentage of the population, and they begin to believe they represent the majority of the population because they only hire from the same group, ignoring the population and majority of the gamers.
That's exactly it. Never let yourself get trapped in an echo chamber. Always listen to different opinions. You don't have to believe or follow what other people say, but you should at least listen, so that you don't get convinced that everyone thinks the way you do. Otherwise you turn into a fanatic ...and this can happen on either side of politics.
BioWare technically died the moment that EA bought them in 2010, with ME1 and DAO being the least "real" BioWare games. Since then, EA has just been puppeting around the corpse of BioWare around and it was slowly becoming evident the corpse is desiccated and rotting.
I said this back when I got burned hard by Andromeda, which I staked my fledgling UA-cam channel on. Me shifting from a BioWare creator into a huge BioWare critic back in 2017 pretty much killed my channel growth, and I'm ok with that.
But yeah, I got to see a different side of BioWare fans, with other content creators I collaborated with started damage controlling for my criticism and then taking shit about me. That really taught me a valuable lesson.
True. Though still offered something of value up to a point.
Last one I got "burned" with was inquisition. Was done with bioware after that. (even tho they screwed up a lot with ME3 too, less so with previous games)
Disagree. Bioware died when the founders, fed up with EA's BS, left the company. Right after Mass Effect 3 came out. Admittedly, I think the last downright excellent game they made was Mass Effect 2. Everything post ME 3 has been a corpse puppet controlled by EA's sheer fucking hubris.
@@Rheinguard Mass Effect 3, the first game outside FIFA and Madden to feature Andrew Wilson's innovative loot box mechanics (read: literally gambling) that have made billions of dollars?
Buddy, I hate to break it to you, but you gotta take off the rose-tinted glasses... DA2, ME2, and ME3 all had EA's stench so over them in some way or another.
Even DA Origins had some of EA's DLC garbage, but fortunately the game was largely already done before EA took full control, so the DLC wasn't as bad as ME2.
2010 was the end of BioWare... It just took several years before we really started to notice the decay.
Dragon Age died with Gaider’s departure (still confused why he played defense to Korine), Mass Effect died with Casey’s departure (the main idea guy even though he was not the reason the trilogy was high quality) and The Old Republic/KOTOR era of Star Wars died with Karphyshin’s departure.
BioWare’s name is finally mercy-killed for its own good.
If you would look up the games he's been working on since, you'll understand why he shills
Gaider still does that, before Corrine Busch was Corrine, he was Gaider's protege.
@@toraryoung At least Gaider knew how to write LGBT characters without making them stereotypes. Corine couldn’t write a complex character (much less a real person) to save her life.
I think that Gaider in some way sympathizes with Veilguard's team, probably knows something from the inner kitchen that we don't know, so he is inclined to believe that EA management is to blame for everything, not the development team (which I personally doubt very much lol)
"still confused why he played defense to Korine" - Because they will always defend each other by default. No matter what.
Most fields are primarily a social thing. Social aspect is more important than being able to do a good job. In almost everything.
If Miss Shilla Elizabeth is excited for the next mass effect you know its going to be shit.
Given the Exodus Official accounts are following the "community panel" members, I'm actually kind of worried for that game now.
Adding Kala to any input is like adding a rotten potato to a new bag and somehow thinking "it won't matter"
I think Edith will move on to shill for Avowed. She feels betrayed by Bioware because they say they are not pandering to creatures like her.
After Avowed fails, they’ll be back for Mass Effect too. I fear Mass Effect 5 will be the kill shoot Bioware, for good.
guess Exodus will get tainted as well if it's not already
I identify as non-buynari when it comes to any bad video games and that's bioware is making from now.
Keep your politics out of video games. And when I say politics I mean your personal politic beliefs. Politics that is relevant to the fictional setting is fine, great even. It helps with the world building. In DA you have kings, the Landsmeet, the chantry, the templar and mage conflict. DAO is just dealing with Ferelden, then you have Orlais or Tevinter. That stuff is great because it fleshes out the world. All that stuff is interesting and teaches you how these fictional worlds operate.
Top surgery scars or making someone do push ups for offending someone is not relevant to the setting it is just you shoving your political ideology in where it does not belong. No one wants that crap. We do not buy games for your real world politics. I don't care about characters that only exist to be a mouthpiece for your personal issues.
Keep your politics out of Mass Effect. Guess what, prejudice and conflict exist on that setting and it is not a bad thing because it makes the world more believable. There are still tensions between humans and turians after the First Contact War and that is interesting. There would still be some mistrust. People give Ashley shit for her views and I will defend her with my dying breath but she is incredibly nuanced. I don't even want to think about what ME5 would do with her.
Well said. FE also proves that you can include politics (monarchy) in a fictional setting that enhances story telling.
It's a crime not making your cam 4 times bigger when you look like that. Godamn! you fine in that outfit 👍💅
The ship analogy was pretty damn good 👍🏿
It fits too well. How can anyone tell themselves that a story-driven game can continue as it were, when the writers and developers who made it a great game are long gone?
Worse, when they're replaced by people that clearly hated the original games? It sounds like a sick joke to me.
The ship of Theseus is about "removing parts and replacing them with the identical parts". This situation is more like "replacing good details with shit" - the shit of Theseus, if you like. I will see myself out.
Honestly. Bioware, it's time for you to rest. It's time to let go. They've been cursed by undeath for a long time now. Manipulated by the necromancers at EA. You had your time on this Earth. It's time to let go.
18:38 I am laughing by butt off. You know, sometimes I wish I could disconnect from reality that hard. 😂
13:00 I don't know about that. Kala has been critical of Veilguard. From what I recall there are more things she does not like about it than she likes about it on her channel. She doesn't like the game doesn't have a direction, its lack of identity. It doesn't know what it wants to be. Second, it is loosely connected to their previous games. Thirdly, in all seriousness, it is not. As for her disabilities, it wasn't evident it was classified as a disability. She's only mentioned she has some accessibility issues. Carpal tunnel would be my guess, because she mentioned foot controls.
She was critical after the backlash, before that she had a video literally titled "bioware is back".
@@joshsquatch7474 no, that was after she played the demo. After she played the whole game was when she was critical.
@@joshsquatch7474 did you watch that video? EA flew out a bunch of content creators to play the game. They liked it. But there were parts they were not allowed to go to. It was a curated playthrough.
Her "critics" were the most lukewarm, vague criticism in the world. Her only critique was that the games had changed too much from one another. That's it. And it was all after she got backlash for shilling.
@@nuhre that must be a coincidence. I don't see it that way. Her pattern has been critical of what BioWare is doing.
Corinne is working for WOTC now...that company can't stop winning 🤭
Warhammer is already infested.
Garb Age: The Fail-hard
I wish these people were fired earlier. Maybe Dragon Age wouldn’t be a walking corpse of a franchise.
It's sad that the "community panel" are STILL doing what they were indoctrinated for... "protecting" the devs of a train wreck. Even sadder, is they are STILL blowing smoke up the (now) EX-Dev's asses and telling them they did nothing wrong. It shits me to tears that the ones who were "justifiably* fired (or invited to leave) are being convinced by a group of sycophants they have essentially abandoned, that they did "nothing wrong" and "didn't deserve this".
They. Deserved. This. And they took talented devs and writers down with them.
And not for nothing, but I find it EXTREMELY concerning that the devs of Exodus are following 'com panel' members. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
First time seeing your video. I used be ruthless like this(you here), realized I've gone sentimental in life. Needed to hear this(someone) to recalibrate myself. Thanks🙂
Welcome aboard!
Corinne Busche actually got a job as game director at Skeleton Key a new WotC studio. So, unfortunately, cronyism continues to exist in the game industry. SK has former bioware devs, so they hired their friend.
Crap, he's going to ruin more of our hobbies 😞
7:10 on the other hand Patrick probably saw the writing on the wall and just wanted to keep his job. Older white man? In increasingly brain rot BioWare? No, kids, I’m not a straight white male, I’m non-binary Trick! Look how in-step I am with you kids by turning all my writing into dogwater!
Anyone with courage and integrity would’ve just stood firm and if they want to fire a good writer then so be it, and be confident in his own abilities to get another job. But when he dyed his hair blue to kill his brain cells he also apparently swapped out his spine with a pool noodle so here we are.
Love the topics, and love the top, damn right that eddy cant pull what you do off
Young lady, you remind me of Claudia Black. 😊
Mass Effect 5 is going to make Andromeda look like fine art.
They old Yellowed Dragon age, like flashgits did to call of duty.
we need a list of all people who made this
At least the dolphin had a light day of work. Ara stays keeping her employees happy! 🤣 @nuhre
OHHHH S*** if I put $250M into a game and it flop I'm firing everyone I don't care who it's 😂😂😂 EA better make sure it's no DEI in mass effect 5 better yet I will listen to the fans
Mass Effect 5 might actually not be super bad exactly because the Veilguard fail. They might dial down the madness. But Assassin's Creed Shadows (I know it's not EA) will be the final rusty nail in UbiSoft's coffin. All in all w0kene$$ is dying slowly. It's not profitable to cater only to 10% of the potential audience.
I think your are being very optimistic with 10%.
Marvin is back. The holidays must of been good.
EA hire this woman as CEO of BioWare you will print infinite money ❤
When bioware lost it's keys ppl
It became biowaste
Imagine being naive enough to be excited about Mass Effect 5 after Andromeda, Anthem and Veilguard. Absolute insanity.
You have such a captivating tone,it's like listening to an angel sing.😇 ✨️ 💓 💖 💕
I don't think your ears work very well.
I appreciate it,you're awesome. 👍 😍 💖
You are the most beautiful person I've ever seen in my entire life.❤️ 💖 💛 💕
These people fail upwards. It’s unbelievable to me that these people lose companies millions of dollars, yet somehow when they leave another company hires them for the same exact job! How does this work? How are these people still in the industry after collapsing it? It just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s like they are going out of their way to hire and competent people simply because of their sexual preference status. Or pronoun status. Or genital status. Or skin color status. When will these companies learn. When these companies say no we hire based on merit this is absolute proof that is a lie.
Thank. You.
Thank you too!
You & your fellow social influencers greatly made the game famous & the whole franchise.
I still remember back on 2014 when i played DA ll for the first time, Then inquisition after few months.
I remember the games can't matches other popular franchise like the elder scrolls or final fantasy.
We were in peace in this franchise until it gets ruined & flawed by dirty hands.
That top is drop dead gorgeous, sheesh
So Kala is a schill? Seems like it.
18:30 Good lord how unhinged. These people are a cult.
The writers have moved to ghosts of Yohai or whatever it's called, and busche is working for grand wizards of the coast now. Make of these developments what you will.
Follow the skilled writers/directors/devs not the brand or studio name.
Normally debate different areas of science but as I love, or did, this industry and nearly worked for a game developer years ago, I keep an eye out on the .. developments.
It certainly became more enatertaining and colourful when I heard about you.
Along with many other areas, I knew these times were coming and predicted most of it many years ago.
Needless to say, I'm not liked very much by a very large number of people.
$250M (not included conversion cost) probably more than that.. it's originally 'Dragon Age : Dreadwolf' to 'The Veilguard' the need to create Taash + other characters/assets for DATV..
That's Corrine 'TRAP' Busche ideas.. 😅
Hi Ara😁
Thanks for the good news😂😂
Any time!
I’m still here wondering why the game couldn’t be put in Early Access instead of selecting random unskilled people to playtest and advise on the story.
And there I was hoping, for things to change for the better. Alas my hopes were dashed against the wall of DEI, again. No matter, we must break through this wall, or look for another hobby.
ME5 isn't happening before Bioware shutdown, IMO. Even if it does end up dropping, who's gonna forgive them for ME4 or suddenly gaining goodwill out of nowhere?
Can I just say something? At least John Epler was talented, Corinne? GOOD LUCK.
Anyway, it's really impressive that EA used LGBT+ employees as a shield and now they're the first to go, I mean, I might feel bad for them if they didn't call us bigots, corn addicts or worse.
I have no illusions about anything anymore. The truth is, I'd rather spend my money on old games that I know are good, that are already fixed without bugs or with minimal bugs than on something that comes incomplete, with bugs, and on top of everything poorly written.
I hope they don't ruin ME5 like how andromada was a disaster vailguard massive flop ME5 has to be there saving grace
I hope you tackle some warhammer fantasy. It has so many damn good stories and characters in there. People always think 40k when Warhammer is mentioned, but man. Fantasy hits different. malekith/morathi lore, the skaven, gotrek and felix and their adventures. Fantasy is just a much better setting for more rooted stories and characters. Where as 40k is very much balls to the wall, bigger is better. Not saying 40k doesn't have good books or characters tho.
Is not that they did not do there job.
they did there job that those companies hire them do do.
is just that the result of that work is lest that shit
Damn. My Shepard character romanced Tali. Knowing it's the same writer as Taash...man, talk about a creative free fall into complete mediocrity to appease a non-existant fan base.
This connection makes it look even worse that ME2 didn't allow the Tali/FemShep romance. Makes it look like Weekes and anyone involved with the decision are hypocrites
4:07 . I say it was dead before release 😅
yodang!
At this point i don’t trust modern BioWare with mass effect same reason I don’t trust modern Ubisoft with assassins creed
I’ve heard Kala Elizabeth has been sleazing around Exodus lately. When I heard that my enthusiasm for the game went from ‘hell yes’ to ‘cautiously optimistic’.
No hope for ME4(Andromeda was not 4, that was chinese knock off Mass Effect). The signs of the downfall began at ME3. Inquisition was the last sign of actual talent and it had some issues. It is crazy that the person who wrote Mordin, wrote Taash, although maybe they wrote the original Thief/Tal Vashoth concept, not the abomination that it ended up being.
I hope to god Exodus is good. We need some more solid sci fi stuff. Everything lately has a habit of being all style, no substance.
But I don't even like the concept of what I know about 'Mass Effect 5' they needed to just let Shepard be, off having blue babies with Liara or whatever. We can have other stories in the universe, and they don't have to be galaxy threatening ones. One of the reasons Me2 was good is it was smaller, more personal emotional stakes, even though it was part of a larger narrative.
For me, Bioware’s downfall started with Dragon Age 2, which was a trash game-full of copy-pasted assets, boring writing, weird designs (from characters to mobs-just look at the darkspawn, lmao), and buggy as hell.
Then there’s Mass Effect 2. And yeah, I know, everyone from their buddy to their grandma loves this game, but sorry-this isn’t a Mass Effect game. It’s a spin-off.
The writing is all over the place, and the whole story is pointless. It leads nowhere. You start with Shepard dying, then immediately getting resurrected (like… uh, okay? Whatever), just to go after a new big villain that you take down right away. And then what? What does it actually add to the main story? Nothing.
The Reapers are still coming, nobody cares, and nobody has a solution (which they have to figure out in the third game-one of the reasons why it's so ass).
I don’t even need to go over all the issues Mass Effect 3 had. And then Inquisition… man, this game was so dumb I could barely believe it at the time. The gameplay was even less entertaining than Dragon Age 2, the open world was just a bunch of big empty maps. And like, okay, I enjoy walking-but IN REAL LIFE, not in video GAMES. Some characters were great, others were just… there, I guess?
But the worst part was the writing. My god, it was awful. And the final act? The most boring thing I’ve ever played in a Bioware game. It was as exciting as doing the dishes.
I’m sorry, but Bioware’s downfall didn’t start with Andromeda. It started way before that. It just kept getting worse… and worse… and WORSE with every new game. That’s it.
🐬
Dragon Age The Veilguard is a waste of money to make in the first place.😒 😑 🙄 😪 😤
How'd all the positive reviews work out for Kala and Fadewalker
video games like cinema is full of nepotism and it's showing. none of them are either talented, competent or passioned. They nothing more than attention w*ore
I'm so happy that they are seeing the results of their hard work on a total shit game. I'm non-buy-nary.
Nuhre, you need to upgrade your lighting
I do :(
Kcd2 is dei trash.
