Round 2, game 1, you had Spirit Guide off the top into Cavern, Linebreaker, and then Fleshraker spawns to stay in the game. Also, Kozilek's Command + Glaring Fleshraker is bananas!
I think you thought the It That Heralds did something else, and it would have been an understandable include if it lowered the CMC of Thought-knot by 1. As is, the card seemed pretty medium. Especially with it's colorless mana requirement.
Yeah, in the beginning deck tech, I was wondering why It That Heralds was chosen when there is only one card (as a 3-of) that is CMC 7 or greater... I get the Lord effect, but it seems like there might be better cards that could take the place of It That Heralds.
@@usagi2988it’s good in decks that have All is Dust and Worldbreaker to go with Ugin’s Labyrinth. Though I’m not sure how necessary that card is in Legacy with access to Tomb, City, and Temple.
It's weird to say in Legacy where a 2 mana lord is usually not too good, but these sorts of decks have been playing that card almost exclusively for the lord effect. Reducing cost of All is Dust or whatever other large eldrazi card is okay and does indeed come up, but making your mimics, thought knots, and most importantly glaring fleshraker AND it's tokens larger is definitely the main effect. I think the shift in perspective comes from the fact that in this deck It That Heralds is typically a turn 1 play (we have a sol land in our hand something like 60% of the time I'd guess?) A lord that costs 2 lands is almost always unplayable in legacy. A lord that only taps one land is, it seems from early results for eldrazi decks, actually quite good. I'm not saying you're entirely off base - the card is, of course, slightly better in decks with more 7+ eldrazi tribal plays. But I think it's still one of your best turn 1 plays for the plan of "beat your opponent to death with eldrazi" regardless of how many of your cards cost more than 7. The colorless mana requirement thing is of course almost entirely irrelevant in a deck which plays (almost) only lands that can produce colorless mana. ;P Sorry for the essay response.
I wonder if the deck would want a 1-of yavimaya or urborg, maybe over the extra courtyard? Haven’t finished the video yet, but giving yourself the ability to tap eye of ugin for mana and also let you not take a bunch of damage from your tombs late game is pretty appealing, but maybe just not good enough.
Is there a reason for the battlefield forge over sulfurous springs? Since springs saves a life on hardcasting dismember, and gives you a chance to in theory hardcast leyline in that 1 in 1 million scenario?
I wonder if you could make a deck where you attack with Broadside Bombardiers and then second main evoke Nulldrifter and throw it at your opponent's face for 9 more damage while drawing two cards. 43:10 Hey look, opponent got to do the thing BoshNRoll has been saying he wants to do since day 1 of MH3.
I do like Null Rod against the Nadu Breakfast deck since we saw Stoneforge. They basically have 9-10 routes to Shuko and likely only have a couple Nomads as backup
Do you know of the interaction where Prismatic Vista can find both a wastes or a mountain? Just thinking about something that may make the manabase less awkward but that also may come at some efficiency or utility so idk for sure.
I would love to try this with 4 kozileks commands instead of the it that heralds the end. Should make it run alot smoother because of the card draw and interaction and ramp capabilities
definitely wrong to concede m2g1 when mana monkey could (theoretically, with some good luck) save the game but I understand these sorts of thing are much easier to find after the fact
I'm curious, do you think Vexing + Chalice of the Void could be the core of a prison stompy? Like, instead of Trinisphere in the old Trinisphere/Chalice shell? The numbers might need to be tinkered with, since multiple Chalices can be put on 1 and 0, which both invaidate the Bauble. Maybe 4 Bauble, 2 or 3 Chalice?
Im an old player but i only play Arena now, Timeless is missing the fast mana of Legacy but were allowed to play with lots of banned stuff from legacy. Horizon sets do bring an absurd of amount of power that would have taken 10 years to archieve with standard sets. Seeing so many complaints about grief is crazy when its quite clear which is the most absurd card from Horizons that nobody talks about. Urzas Saga is completely broken, a land that gives you massive threats and a free tutor to hand even. How does this thing get a pass? Every format that thing is in is completely warped by it, can't counter it, can't grief it. Its outrageous
God... Grief really makes Thought-Knot Seer look embarrassing lmao. Both 4 mana, 4/4 vs 3/2, but grief is also turn 1 interaction + reanimate synergy. Not to mention the card draw when thought-knot dies
@@squee147 In fact, endless one used to be part of the original eldrazi winter list.. for exactly the reason you mentioned..free cast out of eye of ugin.. you get a free 2/2 with eye of ugin and it’s not a bad late game top deck
Isn't it better in the Eldrazi 12 post deck? Not this aggro version? It just feels bad unless you're pumping a healthy amount of mana into it, at which point, something like a Dismember would have probably already let you aggro out your opponent
I know it's not the most popular decks and some people find it enjoyable, but I dont see the appeal of decks like Oops, or Tibalt's Trickery or Doomsday. It's not even really a game of magic its "cool i have the hand, I win." or "oh no, you have the answer *scoop*." I just dont see the appeal.
thraben i think you always playing busted decks like stompy whatever playing ancient tombs, and wastelands... on this last game you "wasted" your wastelands on a midrange deck..... always playing with few lands
at 34:39 the token is an Eldrazi Scion, which are 1/1s. Eldrazi Spawns are the 0/1s.
Round 2, game 1, you had Spirit Guide off the top into Cavern, Linebreaker, and then Fleshraker spawns to stay in the game. Also, Kozilek's Command + Glaring Fleshraker is bananas!
Or like 11 colorless spells mv 2 or less still
That nadu trigger off dismember. Damn

Urborg also lets you cast dismember without having to pay life.
Phil has taken the vexing bauble-pill, is this just "if ya got 4 slots, couldn't hurt"?
based and vex-pilled
yay phil thraben posted! i hate holding my breath for the entire weekend while i wait for new legacy content. makes my lungs hurt

He did take the Forge out at the end, but your points are 100% correct. Probably an oversight on Phil's part
It amazes me to see just how much mh3 warped legacy
It amazes me to see how much Nadu warped legacy

Game 1 round 1 is wild
Try this build for modern…
Creatures: 32
4x Thief of existence
4x Eldrazi linebreaker
4x Glaring fleshraker
4x It that heralds the end
4x Wastescape battlemage
4x Dimensional infiltrator
4x Prophet of distortion
2x Propagator drone
2x Spellskite
Instants: 4
2x Kozilek’s command
2x Dismember
Artifacts: 4
4x Vexing bauble
Lands: 20
4x Eldrazi temple
4x Cavern of souls
4x Secluded courtyard
2x Unclaimed territory
2x Field of ruin
2x Island
2x Forest
sideboard: 15
4x Leyline of sanctity
4x Chalice of the void
3x Relic of progenitus
2x Kozelik’s command
2x Damping sphere
Warping Wail makes an Eldrazi at instant speed for your linebackers, but is probably too cute for Legacy power-level
You know what card is excellent at dealing with Phyrexian Dreadnaught? Eldrazi Command. XD
It cannot find Waste, waste do not have a basic land type sadly
@@Zauzzie it can. It doesnt search for a land type, it searches for the basic *supertype*. it was a staple during eldrazi winter.
I crafted a deck very similar to this once I saw linebreaker. I had endless one instead of it that heralds however.
I would love to try this with 4 kozileks commands instead of the it that heralds the end. Should make it run alot smoother because of the card draw and interaction and ramp capabilities
I hadnt thought about it but yeah bauble pretty effectively kills rhinos
You should play the nadu deck in modern before it gets banned recently got 5 PT top 8s and was the only deck in the semi finals
booooring
After playing fleshraker in draft a few times, I was waiting for this thing to be a machine gun in other formats
definitely wrong to concede m2g1 when mana monkey could (theoretically, with some good luck) save the game but I understand these sorts of thing are much easier to find after the fact
Doesn't disruptor flute stop shuko's activations tho?
Devourer as a dig spell I think was undersold in the fast matchups, and Fleshraker seems pretty terrible

Pithing Needle and Wasteland hits Saga, thankfully.

Eldrazi aggro? EL aggro!
This is a really cool fun deck, I sure can't wait for it to lose to Nadu some number of times.
Nadu>ThrabenU confirmed
Probably more cute than good, but universal automaton is an eldrazi that casts for free from eye of ugin.
Endless one strictly better
@@zenmaster8826 ya, your right
@@squee147
In fact, endless one used to be part of the original eldrazi winter list.. for exactly the reason you mentioned..free cast out of eye of ugin.. you get a free 2/2 with eye of ugin and it’s not a bad late game top deck
I think not including Kozilek command is a crime, card is just too good, also synergies very well with the glaring guy
