  • Episode 3 - Removing Scratched Windows & Rubber Seals - In this episode I take out the permanently scratched windows and all of the rubber seals around the windows. I also figure out how to remove the rubber part from the aluminum trim without ruing the trim. To be honest, all of this took me hours or work and was way more difficult than I would have expected.

Did I saw that you actually bend those aluminium trim? They are not straight anymore?
I have done it by myself many times. These needs to take away very carefully. Small step by step. They ave to move from car body in whole lenght, not just part of the lenght. Otherwise they dont come off straight. Also when diassembling actual rubber trim, same principle.

Nope, not bent at all but thank you for the advice! Everything went back together perfectly except for me putting the trim slightly in the wrong spot for one of them.

Man, I truly admire your passion for the E31, is so far the most amazing car that you ever had, but many times I wish I never bought it. 840ci, 1995 Oxford green 90k ,in almost immaculate condition. ( signal lights and the pup up lights stop working) nobody knows what is wrong. Hopefully you have any ideas to fix this. Mario Renato, Wilson nc

Thank you! I wish I could help with the headlights. The previous owner of mine replaced all the lights with an upgraded set and so far they are all working...so I don't think I will have to mess with them 🤞

Hi Mario. I have just found this channel and subscribed. I have owned a 1998 840Ci Barbados green for 15 years. It has been off the road for the last 7 while I am trying to restore it. Safe to say, I now know a lot about the E31's. When BMW made the E31 it was the most technically advanced and expensive car they had ever made to that date. That means it is full of in some ways unique over complicated electrics and electronics. I am quite lucky that my job was an electronics engineer for 50 years, so nothing much frightens me. However, there are lots of potential electrical issues with these cars. My advice would be to break each fault down into simple steps and work through them slowly and systematically. There is an electrical troubleshooting guide and also a technical repair manual for the E31 readily downloadable on line, that is a good starting point. Brittle insulation and broken wiring to the headlights is not uncommon, but it is hard to give you any real advice without seeing the car. Good luck anyway.

@@bobfrankish8883 thank you for your response, I drove it today and is a great car, to bad that we don't have signal light and no headlights but is great. Cheers from Raleigh nc
