    Hi Gabe. Good review, thank you. However, obviously you can not replace the lens guard, but having used Gopro’s literally a month after the first came out, I have not been able to scratch or brake one. So I’m not worried. I use the quick release all the time (not the one that came with the camera , but the metal one) and it works great, and your story does not make sense. The image quality is better than the GoPro. Especially in darker light situation, where the GoPro just shits itself. Still using the GoPro, because it is a good camera, but when I need good quality video, my go to camera is the Ace pro.

    To each his own, but seems this like a pretty pessimistic review...as if there is some bias present. For me personally, I like this camera for the exact reasons that you do not.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  2 місяці тому +4

      Every reviewer has some bias - appreciate you acknowledging yours in your comment too.
      I try and present the pros and cons for whatever product I review, as well as mention why someone might or might not feel the same. Every product has a person/user who will love it and also those who should probably look elsewhere (I always say there isn’t such thing as bad gear, it’s just a bad fit between the gear and what the person who bought it was looking for) so my goal is to try and help people like yourself see the reasons why this camera is right for them while steering others to a more appropriate option.
      I never claim to be perfect though, so always appreciate constructive feedback like yours to help me improve and make my future videos more helpful and informative.

    Nice video bro! I'm trying to hold out for the DJI Action 5. I do have an Insta 360 X4 and love it for what it does.

      Thanks! Yeah we should be getting the Action 5 Pro and GoPro 13 within the next 2-3 months so it’ll be exciting to see what the next year of action cams brings.

    nice vid, thank you!!!
    i dont like the sound from dji mic 2 connected to Ace Pro. If i compare it to how it sounds with native DJI Cams, those are much better.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  2 місяці тому

      I might be wrong here, but I think that’s because it’s using Bluetooth with the Ace Pro and it uses a different/proprietary connection with DJI devices (the same it uses with the RX unit) that allows a higher bitrate transmission.
      Also, glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to drop a comment 🙏

    Question … with the new magnetic quick mount mounting system. If I’m dirt biking and fall off the bike and onto the ground … would it stay mounted or would the magnetic click section let lose and the camera would then go flying off somewhere?

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  27 днів тому +1

      Hard to really say cause it probably depends on how hard the crash is. The magnetic mount is definitely not as secure as a standard mount but still at least 90-95% as good. And the positive thing about it possibly giving way in a hard crash is that it could save your camera or mount from worse damage.

    I don't think you understand why the 8k resolution is important and a benefit. 8k footage gives you the ability in post to pan horizontally, vertically, zoom in, and reframe. Very much like a insta360 X4, except you have a lot more flexibility with that camera in that you can choose to reframe in a 360 degree sphere. You will not be rendering out at 8k, just like the X4, you'll be lucky to get 4k, 2.7k, or even 1080p if you want to go really crazy with the reframing. So the benefit of the 8k is flexibility in post. And with that flexibility you can be very creative when you edit your videos. I own an X4 and while it is not the perfect camera, if there ever was a perfect camera, it's workflow of reframing is a game changer. I recently filmed an ice skating friend while I ice skated backwards using my X4, I had to watch her, the camera screen, and use my peripheral vision to make sure I didn't skate backwards over some poor unsuspecting person of the public. I couldn't always keep my subject in frame, with the X4 it's not really required anyway as your capturing everything, but in post it is very easy to reframe to get the subject back to where you want them. It has always bugged me how the advertise the X4 as being 8K as the videos you produce from the X4 won't be anywhere near that resolution. Technically correct but very misleading.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips
      @DigitalTechReviewsTips  Місяць тому

      With a 360 camera I am all for more resolution - let’s see 12k if they can! In that case the whole point of the camera is obviously to be able to capture the full surroundings and then essentially “edit” in post through reframing.
      With a regular action camera that “editing” is largely done while you’re out shooting - choosing your angles and framing up your shots in the physical world. In a lot of cases a talented videographer will have things composed so well that there’s no need to reframe or crop in post. In practicality, sure none of us are perfect and having 5K or even 6K can be really helpful for a little flexibility in post.
      8K though (in my opinion - this is very much a subjective thing) on the consumer end of cameras is mostly another way to put a higher number on the box and just leads to ever larger file sizes of mediocre video. It’s not that there *can’t* be an 8K camera that shoots good video quality, just that a lot of consumer cameras have focused so much on resolution that they’ve neglected many other important aspects of video quality (pro-level codecs, better lens quality, larger pixel size, high bitrate, etc). Now this is changing somewhat with better quality pixel grouping that’s done on the chip itself (quadbayer improvements etc) but I still hold out that for most situations 4k is a better option than 8K.
      However I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a long comment with your opinions on this and explaining how you use the cameras. It helps me improve my reviews going forward by being able to look at a product through the eyes of many different use cases other than my own so I can better identify it’s possible weaknesses or strengths.
      Also I totally agree with you that it’s so misleading that Insta360 continues to advertise its 360 cameras like X4 with the total resolution number when anyone who’s used a 360 camera for a week can tell you that you’ll be lucky to be using half that resolution in many cases.

    Your pros also sounded like cons. It can't really be that bad??? I've just ordered one...going to go diving in the Red Sea next month. Really hoping to capture some really kickass footages underwater with the underwater case on.
    Also, I noticed you compared the camera to a smartphone a couple of times when listing lack of features or limitations. I don't think that's a fair comparison at all...just saying.
    Thanks for the video though. Made me more confident that it's a right action camera for me ;)

      Appreciate the feedback man. I try my best with these reviews to please everyone (while knowing that’s never really possible) but always appreciate constructive criticism like yours to help me when making future videos.
      As for why I compared it to a smartphone, I often compare action cameras to smartphones because basically everyone has a smartphone so it’s a good reference point and if the action camera isn’t offering better image quality then it might not be worth someone spending their money. With the Ace Pro, it was also important to compare since it’s doing a lot of the same AI tricks/processing as modern smartphones. TBH it did end up sounding a little more negative than I wanted but I was kinda impressed with how the Ace Pro did in low light and versus the smartphone.
      Hope you capture some cool footage diving in the Red Sea next month - sounds awesome! There is no wrong or right gear for everyone out there, so I’m glad my video helped you be more confident in your purchase. Tag me on social media if/when you end up posting some clips cause I’d love to see the shots you get.

      Ok so I dived it it. Beautiful footages...really crisp and better than the Gopro 11 for sure. But I would recommend a red filter for depths below 10 meters. I couldn't get my hands on one before the trip so my footage was all Blue and Grey ;)
      But all in all, a great purchase, if Scuba Diving is the primary activity for which one is looking at it for!

    THANK YOU! I have a GoPro 12 and I love it, but I’ve had envy for this camera. I think I’ll keep my GoPro 12 (which is amazing except in bad lighting). I am gonna look into the Osmo Pocket 3. I think that and the go pro would make a killer combo. I would love your thoughts on that.

    • @DigitalTechReviewsTips

      Yeah, definitely think that OP3 and GoPro 12 is a better next purchase than the Ace Pro. As for whether that’s right for you? Really depends on what you’re looking to make and film with your gear. These are just tools after all and what’s good for one person’s needs might not be good for you are wanting to do.

      If you’re asking about the cheaper Insta360 Ace (and not the Ace Pro) I personally don’t see any reason to get the regular Ace camera vs. a GoPro.

    I got my ace pro a few weeks ago. Been messing with it a little bit. I have no experience with other cameras. This is my first action camera. I like it. It takes some getting used to for myself, having zero experience with cameras. I got it for work. I’m an interior painter. So I’d like to use the Ai feature and other features to showcase my work. I just got the tri pod stick and I love it. I hated just holding the camera in my hand. I like it.

      Nice! Glad to hear you like it! I’d imagine the AI denoise (Pure Video) mode might be helpful for capturing your work as filming inside is often a situation where other action cams may struggle. Have you tried using the timelapse or timeshift modes to capture your painting in process?

    Totally wrong. Insta 360 is the best Action Cam at all and GoPro 12 the worst for hundreds of reasons. Trash video.
