    Looks great!
    I’m looking for a small camera to film and vlog inside malls and in lower light / artificial light. Walking tours inside malls and in evenings. Can’t decide between Ace Pro and the Go3S. Any thought?
    Any idea what is coming in next firmware?

      If you're doing any low light, then Ace Pro, the GO 3/3s are great cameras but not great in low light or night, that's where the Ace Pro comes in with PureVideo and the larger sensor. As for firmware for Ace Pro, we will likely see one more before Ace Pro 2 launches in late October ;)

    Mr. Miyagi, have you tried PureVideo mode at 1080p? After updating to v1.0.60 my PureVideo recordings now have this greenish tint on the right side, like a greenish vignette. Can you try on yours? I tested at 2.7k and it was clean. 😢

      @MiyagisRant  2 місяці тому

      Oh geez, I haven't shot in 1080 in ages. I'll give it a try and see, but you're the first I've heard of this. Is there any reason why you're shooting 1080p in PureVideo mode? It's probably the worse resolution to shoot in low light conditions.

    This is an odd one, you are losing a little detail in the shadows after the update, but gaining better noise to signal ratio, better preserved highlights, and a tiny bit more detail in the things they both expose visibly. I think I am going to pass on this update because I use purevideo when I am trying to gain as much shadow detail as possible . for example at 19:24 the larger tree in the frame you can see more of it on the old firmware, but the updated one is defiantly lower noise and a tiny bit more detail where you can see the tree. Looks like they sacrificed a little shadow expose (by inceasing the shutter speed a tad is my guess) which also gave them more detail when in motion. I could be wrong on the shutterspeed change.

    • @MiyagisRant
      @MiyagisRant  2 місяці тому +1

      I think there's still a ton of room for them to tweak PureVideo, at least it's getting there and it will never be perfect just because of lens limitation. I can't imagine the amount of work the processor is doing to achieve what it can now, still the best in low light among the top 3. DJI A4 with it's same size sensor can't even touch it, I have the A4 and the jitters are even worse and more often especially when there's motion, the processor in the A4 just can't keep up, hope they will change that in the A5. Love to see a 1 inch sensor with combined with Ace Pro's 5 nm and quad bayer...maybe we'll see that in Ace Pro 2, anniversary date is coming up ;) Yah, that's the nice thing about firmware you can choose to update or not. This imo wasn't a 'huge' update, there was actually suppose to be more from what I've heard but I think they are holding back to prepare for the two big anticipated launches from GP and DJI. ;)

    • @robertconrad6802
      @robertconrad6802 2 місяці тому

      @MiyagisRant I really don't think they have any more performance to squeeze out of this sensor and lens combo for low light. I think the next big improvements will be getting the sensor maybe to 1 inch at f1.8 and autofocus. cell phones have already proven this combo well and the autofocus won't have much work with how big the focal plane is at focal lengths wider than 16mm.

    • @MiyagisRant
      @MiyagisRant  2 місяці тому

      @@robertconrad6802 I don't know, I talk to their tech guys often. Even with a new gen 2, we will still see quite a bit from this camera. Insta360 has consistently been surprising me with what they push out of their devices, I bet they have a few more tricks up their sleeves ;) Heck, look at DJI A3, we never thought they were going to push 10 bit out of that camera and they did it last minute just before A4 launched. Also, Insta360 is working with some pretty crazy hardware in this camera, there are still some unknowns with what they can do with this 5 nm and the Quad Bayer sensor, which btw, was a sensor Sony will be using in their new mirrorless full frame DSLRs. One of the reasons the Ace Pro is putting some pretty impressive footage especially in low light/night. Of which, neither big companies like GoPro and DJI can come close to, many have tried to compare it and still has not been able to make it as good as the Ace Pro coming out of the camera without post, companies that's had 12 generations and 4 generations of action cameras. Do a search on Bayer Quad technology, it's insane stuff and it's the future. I don't compare phones with these things, phones are great in a close proximity range but once you surpass that limited range, it will start to choke. The lens on phones are tiny and can only do so much, it's gotten better but glass is still glass.

    Excellent improvements and excellent great video from your channel. I like the new fw a lot !. Wish they would have added pure video mode also to the X4. Then we would have seen a huge improvement compared to the X3.

    • @MiyagisRant
      @MiyagisRant  2 місяці тому +1

      Funny you mentioned this, when I got my X4 I approached the Insta360 team about PureVideo on the X4 due to the fact that it's using the same 5nm CPU which is what's used in the Ace Pro. They told me that the 5nm cpu in the Ace Pro works pretty hard to achieved PureVideo results and to do that with dual 4K stitched would probably set the X4 on fire lol. I suggested even giving us PureVideo in Single Lens mode so that we can take advantage of PureVideo if we didn't have the Ace Pro around, they didn't give me the answer for that one. So, I'm thinking we might see it in X4 as it's still relatively new. I wouldn't be surprised tbh, Insta360 likes to push their hardware limits in these tiny things 🤣

      @markr041 2 місяці тому

      @MiyagisRant Yes, but you just said "tone down" that Leica Natural to correct the contrasy look. If your viewers cannot do that then it seems to me they would be better off not using the Leica profiles. They are just too contrasty and do not look anything like what one gets from a Leica camera using that profile.

    • @MiyagisRant
      @MiyagisRant  2 місяці тому

      @@markr041 Oh heck no, not user side that would defeat what I'm trying to say lol, Insta360 should tone that profile down a notch or two. At the end of the day, these are really just in camera LUTs that allow the user to easily access 'some' color grading/correction without really any skill or knowledge. I can already do this exact thing using LUTs in Davinci and CapCut, look at one of my older videos, I actually tried to show viewers how to easily implement color corrections/grading with Davinci/CapCut using LUTs. Surprisingly enough, CapCut has some pretty insane color grading/correcting tools for a free app. I've worked with Leica, Canon, Nikkor, Fujinon, Kodak optics in the early days. Back in the days we dealt with print, non of this digital stuff. And we should know that unless your monitor is calibrated 'professionally' every display will show colors, contrast differently. I literally have two high end monitors on my desktop and both display colors differently lol Anyways, at the very least, users have 2 more profiles they can use to their liking and that's really the important thing, everyone uses their cameras differently and every has different taste in colors. Some ppl hate Ace Pro's color science, some hate DJI and some GoPro, whatever works for that person is really the important thing ;)
