    I find this a bit naive, Hannah.
    For every successful UA-camr or influencer, there are more than a thousand UA-camrs that don't make it.
    So how do those Gen Z people survive if they are not willing to study or work?
    I am also against classifying people as either native digital or native analog. There is already enough polarization in this world, and everybody should be free to choose the lifestyle they want..

      Agree. The moment she started highlighting these Tiktok executives, she fell for the textbook survivorship bias. She cites that eventually 27% of a company will be digital natives -- but the irony here is that they will still be rank and file.
      She's a 24-year old CEO. It shows.

      Native digital are not the first generation to consider material possessions unimportant. My husband and I don't wear wedding rings at all and we are nearing 60. In the 60s and 70s a lot of youth went back to nature and protested a war, their parents found them alian also. I would like to mention you are the group that will spend $1000 or more for a phone, need a watch to tell you how many steps you've taken and ear buds to listen to music you pay for monthly, in addition to a tablet or laptop where you also pay a monthly gaming fee, have cable or a streaming service. Use Uber eats or Door dash and have everything delivered to your house, someone in your generation is doing that for a job.

    This perspective is DESPERATELY needed in the c-suite of every company. I'm a consultant on human connection and work directly with executives in both small, local firms and multi-national corporations. One of their biggest frustrations is, "What do I do with these Gen-Z's?" They fail to connect with them and therefore fail to utilize their massive potential because they are too focused on what native digitals do *differently* than they do, rather than what native digitals do *better* than they do. Thanks Hannah, for this fantastic resource I can send to all of my clients.

    I am forty and one of the older Millenials. My friends can build and configure their computers from scratch and jailbreak their phones, if needed. Most younglings I know are screwed when Instagram doesn't open anymore.
    I don't want to generalize, but I think that if someone was birthed into the digital age, that doesn't automatically mean they also mastered it.

    I'm 22 years old and it's not true all the thing she said about Gen Z. Doesn't matter the age for being an entrepreneur or CEO of a company. It's more important other factors like the context, the culture, the conditions, etc. The age is a secondary factor.

    One thing I would disagree with this woman about is her idea that Gen Z are the first people in human history to be integrated with machines/technology. Disabled people have been integrated with machines for centuries ( for instance many people in wheelchairs see the wheelchair as an extension of their own body). While it’s true that wheelchairs, braces and other disability assists (even glasses) aren’t seen as technology today, when they were first made they were new innovations. I think disabled people should be at the forefront of STEM development (especially when it involves “merging” with machines) because we know and have known what is to have a mechanical device be part of your body and can offer a better into making technology more “human friendly “ among other things, because we’ve had to be part of type of technology since practically the beginning of humanity.

    Interesting perspective. Maybe I need to dive into it more, but I do not think I agree. I am a millennial, and thus also a native digital. I feel like people under 30 are not one generation. I see a lot of difference between mine and Gen Z. I did grow up with computers, but not with smartphones, youtube and social media (okay, we had MSN and for Dutchies, Hyves). There is also a difference between USA and Europe (where I live). I do not see the trend of people not going to university. And I do not think that many people can be entrepreneurs. We also need teachers, people in healthcare, etc. This is a perspective I see in people on youtube, but not around me, I don’t know, maybe I am just as analog as people over 35…

    Way to stereotype people. Im sure there are LOTS of under 30 year olds who want a fancy ring and lots of over 40 year olds who would think a 3D printed ring would be cool as heck.
    The problem isn’t analog vs digital, it is that people stop growing and learning new things. Which also means that in 20 years a lot of these digital natives will be stuck their ways and will be called dinosaurs by the new and improved Gen Alpha employees.

People in their 10's and 20's now have less knowledge about computers and the internet, how it all works, than those in their 30's - 50's. Just like them, have less knowledge about how a car works, how to build a house or use any tools.

    A great passionate talk most certainly, but there seems to be conflation and confusion with a couple different points here.
    The ring argument seems to be a generalized lens from someone in a higher wealth bracket, that I believe might be wrong to apply to a general mass.
    Many people from lower income brackets probably have beautiful stories of their parents/grandparents offering tokens of sentimental value to their partners with little monetary worth. As well there many historical counter culture movements of the past like the 'hippe' movement of the 60-80s were rooted in their anti-capitalist and establishment views. As imperfect as any execution may have been.
    We also live in a very afluent time where creating a business is easier than ever due to the wealth and resources we've amassed in the western world. The understanding of resources we have thanks to the efforts of the prior generation is def something our generation does well, however, I dont think we have generalized deeply engrained beliefs that differ as stated. I think this was very much a different understanding of transient wealth. In the past they bought things that held value, gold, diamons, rings etc. now we understand to make value we build business.
    I find it a funny to make a comparison and call out the older generation for their fixation on money and being 'cheap' when the other angle you very much weave in is we can make a business out of this! Which obviously would be based around retaining wealth and value...
    Though there is a lot of other points I could make ill cut it short and move to the end of the video where we highlight some of the amazing success stories of these people.
    As many other people have stated not everyone is the super successful self starter that is capable of taking those routes and isn't tether with other socio-economic chains.
    As well for marketing this is most certainly true, but marketing implies the creation of a product or service to market. Academic institutions are great because they allow us to meet with other minds that are interested and passion about the actual pursuit of creating these products. IN FACT every single person you mentioned in the last slide either graduated from university/college or is currently attending. To contrast the idea of old world vs new world. The old world will change to meet the needs of the new world, and I am all of the mind to move our academic instituions somewhat online to alleviate boundaries, but it seems like these points are counters when compared closely.
    Either way amazing talk, and you did a great job! I think it would of benefited from less sweeping generalizations however.

    What a weird way to like present Gen Z to older people…
    The beginning was cool - an example of revaluation of values. Then you might have explained what’s changed, why you and other Z are different from 40+yo ppl: the service marketplace had been changed. What crucial to understand -entertainment field has grown drastically since 90s. The World no longer cares about ordinary hard type professions.
    In XV century, no one except super rich people traded 1 piece of bread for 5 min of laugh. Right now, we rather want something fun than just water and bread. In XX we had a lot of singers and actresses which were the primary representatives of entertainment field. There is still education needed to become a pro actress / singer. but if you enjoy entertaining people today there’s much simpler way to do it: create YT / twitch / TT channel. Right now, in almost every field soft skills, basically good emotions release are valued so much as never before. A human lives to be happy (to get dopamine). They do every single thing to pursue good state of mind. It’s just because of technological revolution most of human needs have become super easy to satisfy. That’s why we’ve got 20+ different UA-cam professions (all kinds of bloggers) and yes, even a child may do it. And it’s good 😊
    But instead, you started talking about how unique, rich and cool you are. Cmon it’s just human evolution. I agree you are different, your behavior, consumption, etc. Gen Y were slightly different from gen X too. You're also gonna be old, don’t forget

    I think it's a naive thought, Generation Z doesn't want to go to university, the truth is because it costs a lot to get a degree and they are not committed to continuing a career. Because his thought is to get rich and live a life of luxury I don't blame him for that idea because it is the idea created by the capitalism that we live today. However the example she gave of sophia was a very imaginary example because it is radical yes but not realistic because we would have digital bosses everywhere but the reality is we don't have young people in these positions but graduated people with a team that does these evaluations so yes I think giving a position of boss to a 23-year-old is very irresponsible because young people don't know what responsibility and commitment to their life and their future are and they only live in the moment and want immediate pleasure without understanding the implications that this can affect them and the people around them, that's why sophia doesn't want to continue her job because she wants to get rich as quickly as possible and drop everything to live on passive income and with that not understanding leaving her job it not only affects her but the entire chain of employees who accompanied her will have to be reassessed to see whether or not they remain at work all this because sophia wants to stay at home and focus on her hobby. That's why I think it's great that Gen Z is going to bring that thought to work and how we should really work if we're going to work ourselves to death to try to make the boss rich or have smaller workloads to enjoy our life and hobbies.

    Digital = 1 or 0. Predictable. Boring.
    Analog = A plethora of values that can produce a variety of sometimes unpredictable results. An analog synthesizer can make amazing, rich sounds!
    Just like analog vinyl albums are making a come back, largely on the desires of Gen Z-ers to live the glory days of Gen X-ers, the analogs will also make a comeback. Digital music sucks. Analog music is the thing of legend.
    Sorry if I am a critic. But the analog/digital analogy is a poor one to exert superiority. People are analog by their very nature.

    • @FaridAbbasbayli
      @FaridAbbasbayli 2 роки тому +2

      Analog = imprecise and lossy.
      Vinyl albums are making a "comeback" as a novelty, not as a means of listening to music. For one, they are printed using converted digital audio. And even when they are fully analog, it's in no way better than modern digital music. The idea that analog (vinyl) is better than digital is an outdated notion leftover from low capacity compact disks. At first people traded quality for convenience, like they did with tape over vinyl. Nowadays, digital is just as good, and infinitely more convenient.
      Nobody was exerting superiority by the analogue/digital comparison, other than you, it was merely stated to be different, not better.

    • @thezyreick4289

      I could sum up analog as + or -
      That’s only two inputs, so dull and boring
      You forget just like analogue has variance, so too does digital. Floats exist, algorithms exist. It is not simply 1 and 0
      It is not simply do or don’t. Analogue is no different from digital in the inputs, that’s entirely a false assumption and false claim. Analogue and digital both have the same types of inputs.
      The only difference between analogue and digital is the perspective they take. Analogue takes a guess and make it work perspective
      Digital takes a systematic make reproducible perspective

      @@FaridAbbasbayli Anyone that knows anything about professional audio systems knows that digital has a wealth of issues (timing issues galore) that are not present in analog audio systems. Analog has its problems too (mostly noise and difficulty of implementation). Analog is not perfect. But neither is digital. Digital is simply more convenient than analog.
      This digital/analog analogy is flawed and problematic in so many ways. The implication of the speaker is that Gen Z way is somehow better because they want to be entrepreneurs and other easy grabs at money like UA-cam. The fact is the tools that are available today were not available to the previous generations. There was no internet, UA-cam, iPhone when I was a kid. The places I dreamed of going seemed like places that were impossible to get to. Today this gap has been bridged by technology.
      And for the record, the digital generation has and continues to produce some of the worst sounding music of all time. The analog generation is what still inspires the masses. But once all of us “analogs” die, I’m sure that the “digitals” will sit around and convince themselves about how great their music is. I would rather listen to a scratchy Beatles album at 33 RPM on a Kmart turntable than anything being produced today in any format. It all sounds awful!

    Your peers grew up completely integrated in technology? If you were born in 1998 (you said you were 24), you definitely did NOT grow up fully integrated into technology. You were born in the 90's... Not 2015. AI wasn't a thing until recently and it's just now starting. You were in high school when smartphones became popular. This whole video is just a marketing reach, not many people in their 20's care about the metaverse or technology like this. Interesting ideas and it'll probably be relevant in the future, but saying anyone 30 and under is "gen z" or a digital native is just incorrect.

I can send them videos that they may find interesting and useful. It passis the time for me but I also find it fulfilling. I can help friends on Facebook if someones having a bad day or feeling sad I can send them a privat message of comfart. you couldnt do that 20 years ago. To counter the hacker point, its much less rewarding to rob someone when they then just deactivate their cards and all you got from the robbery was a cell phone you dont know the password to and an id that doesnt look like you.
      Social networks do make it far easier to stay connected and current.
