Okay, glad to know I wasn't going crazy when I saw Morning Star doing more damage than Hassou Tobi in my playthrough lmao. I think HT might honestly still be the best physical bet simply bc you have a better chance of landing a critical attack with 8 hits than 1-3. Like you said, it's a good shield breaking tool.
While moves like God’s hand and Agenyastra do more damage while costing relatively the same amount of hp to use I still feel like hassou tobi is a better skill to use IMO seeing as if you pair it with a technical the amount of shields you can take off an enemy like the warden is crazy helpful
One thing to point out, even though agneyastra output more damage per attack than hassou tobi, animation time of hassou tobi is way faster, meaning you can spam more HT than agne during the time period which the enemy is afflicted with freeze/shock etc. Tested both against Ango and Akira, pretty sure HT kill the enemy faster and is still the superior skill

Best way to test skills against Morning Star (even without Technical damage factor):
1) Having max Magic/Strength stats (or at least the same as that of Lucifer)
2) Use Severe skills against that Boss' weakness (Elec/Wind/Curse) with the corresponding Damage Amp and Boost - against M.S. Colossal damage
3) Consider the other effects Physical/Elemental can bring in to the fight (Burn for example would be additional damage over time, Physical/Gun skills can deal more damage on stun gauges on critical with a proper addon).

Thanks for sharing the results, but I have to say that the difference between Morning Star and Riot Gun is waaaaaay different from what I had.
I did some tests on Sendai's Naga Raja, and Technical Morning Star didn't do more than +15% compared to Technical Riot Gun under the exact same Buff/Debuff circumstances :o

What about Most Tech damage you can do? Psy Amp + Psy Boost + Tech Adept + Psycho Blast + Rage Debuff?

Indeed it’s a shame it isn’t better than normal physical skills, in this game there isn’t even Kaguya or Izanagi no okami...... still Yoshitsune isn’t the best.... My disappointment is colossal and my day is ruined.

Never thought Morning star beat hassou Tobi or any late game scaling damage, Just gonna ask, If you use any Concentrate/charge to get more damage, will it beat morning star, right? plus deliberate and heat riser, just pointing it out there for others to see.
All the tests were with Attack up/Defense down so Heat Riser/Debilitate were already accounted for. Hassou Tobi would do more with Charge, but you can also Concentrate Morning Star, so the dmg difference between the two would remain the same. HT is only stronger if it crits 6+ times, but if you’re counting critical damage, Agneyastra would beat it anyways.
quick question. how did you get joker to 99/99 on health and sp? I have him lvl 99 and on ng+ but I have no clue how to increase those :P
You can further increase Hp/Sp with incense ;)
So is Morning Star broken in P5S (as was Myriad Truths in P5R)?
I think Riot Gun beats everything else. Use dizzy on boss combined with technical adept, knockdown style and consistant critical hits. (Morning Star can’t crit). And many enemies are weak to gun while no enemy is weak to physical or almighty.
Eh, the thing is criticals aren't very consistent even with 99 luck. Some enemies are weak to gun, but a lot block it too including a number of Dire Shadows. Whereas Morning Star is consistent everywhere

Im not surprised Hassou Tobi does less than Agne and God's hand, due to two things, crit damage potential and radius. But i don't know if they scaled it like this on purpose or not. i think they purposefully made both moves do more damage due to the potential skyrocketing damage possible with the 8-hit crit and vast radius with Hassou Tobi.
