- Can You Use a 10th Gen Civic Shifter in a EK Civic?
By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie
We love a good upgrade. Sometimes an upgrade for another car can be repurposed to make another car even better. That is the case with our new Acuity Instruments 10th generation short shifter. The 10th gen short shifter from Acuity fixes two issues we have with our OEM Honda k series shifter in our K24Z swapped 6th gen Civic hatchback: the throw and shifter placement. This gorgeous short shifter features adjustable throw gate spacing and height to dial that perfect feel.
The Acuity 10th gen Civic short shifter has been used in non-10th gen Civic applications, but the information on what is needed to get it to work properly is not readily available. So we had some figuring out to do.
Here are the parts we used:
Acuity Instruments 10th Gen Civic Fully Adjustable Performance Short Shifter
Acuity Instruments K20C/L15B-Swap Shifter Adapter Plate for 10th Gen Civic Shifters
Acuity Instruments 10th Gen Civic/Accord Shifter Cable Adapter Bracket for K20Z3 Transmissions
Honda OEM Shifter Cable which they call "Wire, Change" - Honda (54310-TGH-A01)

So glad you guys were able to figure out the solution! Glad to be apart of it 🤘🏻
You’re the man! Thanks for the info.
20spt accord cables will work too correct? Cause I’m going to be running this setup just different cables
@@tylergordon7462 when I was doing the testing for Acuity, the 20spt cables worked for my EG hatch.
@@evanWEEDS doing it in my ek coupe with the eg subframe so it should be the same distance Evan mclaren recommended me to use this setup on my z3 he’s got integra
@@tylergordon7462 nice! Yeah Evan McLaren is one of my good friends, he's an awesome guy to say the least!
They do sell one badass shifter for sure. Nice install guys
Yes they do. We kinda want to put one in all our cars now.
You got a yard full of hondas. Gotta love all the info
Just building that knowledge base. 👍🏽
Re: Firewall holes with engine in, use a sheetmetal "knockout punch". Can fight in very tight spaces, using a ratchet. Still need a pilot hole though.
Acuity make some sick shifters, going to pick up the 4 way kswap shifter for my eg soon, I was thinking of trying to make this 10th gen work in my eg also as I too love the shifter to be high and close to the steering wheel! Ths video has made me think twice about the 4 way kswap version hmm ! Love the videos, all the way from Ireland
5:58 Brian wanted to slap the camera out of his hands but he was able to hold himself back!
God bless! Thanks for videos
Friggin love my Acuity shifter... 10th Gen box, 10th Gen Si Drivetrain in my EK 😏
Liked 👍 good work.
I would really like to see yall do a swap or info video in a CB7 Accord. I recently picked one up, and there's just not much information out there. I've got a K24Z7 engine and transmission from a 2014 ILX I'm going to be using, so I have to use this same shifter setup, because there's not much other shifting option out there. But there's also not much info on the rest of the swap.
We have something coming do that.
Would this set up work for an F2B swap, EM1? Everything going k swap makes sourcing info a lot tougher 😂
Love Acuity stuff
So well engineered.
I'd love to see a gtr killer . Awd twin turbo j series or a tt j swapped mid engine del sol
Acuity should've known all the instructions and told you what you'll need to do?
Ther was some confusion as to what cables worked with which chassis.
Did you end up using the holes in the firewall or did you use the one in the floor with the type-r cables?
Firewall.
Its works in a ek k20a euroR?
Can you test fit that shifter in a 8th gen civic?
So is the part number for the cables correct on the description?
Gilbert
Scot to the rescue!
Mad scientists are at it again!
Ahahaha! OK, a body from 1998, an engine from 2014, a transmission from 2006, shifter cables from a Type R and a short shifter from Acuity walk into a bar...
More details on this car please!
So a 8th gen si gear box bolts onto a 9th gen motor!?
What ecu? Did you change the timing cover for the crank position sensor?
I would be pissed if that was my car
I really wish ALL the cars ive seen from this channel were CLEANER, i mean,.... really,... my car thats been sitting for a year is cleaner than these cars
For sure . exterior and interior . This hatch looks like something I’d never wanna drive .
These guys have transformed the Honda game probably more then anyone else has here in the states… that in itself is far more important then detailing skills…
