- Lucille Ball, The Undisputed Queen of TV Comedy stars in her hilarious follow-up to I Love Lucy!
LUCY AND VIV PUT IN A SHOWER: After Lucy drives off the plumber with her meddling, she and Viv decide to finish installing the shower stall, with disastrous results.
Thank you very much! You make the world a better place. The more the better
this is among the top 5 episodes of any and all Lucy shows, it is a total hoot!
The two funniest ladies who ever gave us laughter
Is true. Father God orchestrates everything!! Lol.!. Joy. love . Jesus.
Hi can
Angz Hamz day I
Angz Hamz day I
Its true😂
These first seasons of The Lucy Show really had the cutest intro.
Lucy: Well maybe somebody will come by and save us.
Ethel: WHO?? Some door-to-door FROGMAN??!! 🤣🤣
Lucille Ball was beautiful and so funny. There will never be anyone else like her. R.I.P Lucy
Hello Lisa, How are you doing?
"Apparently, the only way to get clean is to be filthy rich." One of my favorite episodes!
Complete laugh riot by two wonderful Ladies in the shower enclave. Rip Lucille ball and Vivian Vance. Lucy had made my late Mom very hilarious, even though my mom doesn't know even a single word of English language. I just remembered my mom's laughter as memory while seeing this show. Thanks youTube. From India🇮🇳
Viv: Did you pay this month's water bill?
Lucy: Sure I did!
Viv: THAT WAS A DUMB THING TO DO!!!!!
😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂
I know right that is the most hilarious part ever
What I really like about this episode is that Viv gets many of the funniest lines. When people talk about on screen chemistry, Lucy and Viv are unmatched. Not only do we have two 50+ year old women performing a stunt which today would be deemed so unsafe that the entire studio would be shutdown, they stay completely in character while Lucy nearly drowns- for real.
I read that Viv had to say her dialogue in the form of a question because Lucy had forgotten her lines. Notice at one point they almost talk over each other when they are in the shower?
@@rtususian Lucy didn't forget her lines, She almost drowned. She said she couldn't get to the top and Vivian was the only one who noticed and she grabbed Lucy by her hair to pull her up. Lucy had to take a moment to catch her breath, because she swallowed a lot of water, so Vivian took some of Lucy's dialogue and as you stated, she formed Lucy's line in the form of a question. Lucy said she could hear the audience laughing but nobody knew she was in trouble, until Vivian caught on. She said she was physically drowning. I just read that today, so I looked for this episode. It doesn't look as dramatic as Lucy described, but she said it was all caught on camera.
@@deedeegreen8338 Wow I never heard this learn something all the time I'm 57 and still learning and laughing at the old comedies God bless them ALL amen
@@deedeegreen8338 From what I read, the scenes where Lucy is drowning were cut before they aired on TV so the episode does not really have the near-drowning.
As kids, my little sister and I rooted for Viv. She was indispensable to Lucille Ball’s success.
No comedian male or female will be or ever has been funnier than Lucille ball she's the greatest!!!!!!!!
True: though Irene Ryan as Granny found her character for comedy! The Classics with old values is still funny!
I don't know about that. When I dated a girl and I took off my pants they started pointing and laughing! I always felt maybe I said or did something so hilarious that they laughed so hard they cried and kept waving their hands around. If I knew what was so hilarious that I did, I could be a comedian and take it on the road! 8^)
Red Skelton? Don Rickles? Jackie Mason?
she's my cousin
Carol Burnett is a close second =)
Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance both were great and really gave us plenty of laughter when they made the shows thank you so much UA-cam for posting these episodes of the Lucy show I especially like this when Lucy puts in the shower thanks again.
Vivian is awesome, I absolutely love her.
She was special and unique. Lucy was SO lucky to have had Viv as her second banana!
Me too
Samee she is so amazing
Yes, she was - and as said earlier, Viv actually saved her life when they were in the shower - they edited out Lucy's near drowning since it would ruin the comedy to show a near tragedy. Actually I read later after they finished filming Lucy had to be stopped from touching the microphone while giving her usual thank you to the audience (since Lucy was still wet and therefore would have been electrocuted).
Love Viv 🌸
This is by far my favorite episode. You have no idea how many times I've come back to re-watch it. 😂😂
Funny scene starts at 10:02 -- Lucy does not realize that the man doing the work (i.e., putting in the shower) is actually a real plumber. Earlier in the episode, he had been described to her as: "... an old friend, willing to do the job for nothing" (by some other men, who wanted to get out of doing the job themselves; thus, hired a real plumber on the sly). A memorable episode. In the actual filming of it (not in the script), Lucy nearly drowned -- only Viv realized it, and pulled her up to safety by her hair, while the studio audience (approx. 300 people) were laughing. That particular scene was cut out of the episode, before it was broadcast on TV. However, the studio audience never realized that Lucy was in real trouble, because of how well both Lucy and Viv ad libbed. Both actresses "kept in character" the whole time, according to what I've read (on IMDb and elsewhere). Lucy could hear the audience laughing in a "side splitting" manner, while she was actually starting to swallow water. She praised Vivian for realizing what was going on, and saving her life.
Lucille Ball was almost killed doing those shower stunts
Correct! Lucille Ball almost drown during that scene! If Vivian Vance hadn't realized what was happening and pulled Lucille Ball up to the surface by the roots of her hair, LB might have easily drowned in front of the entire studio audience!
yeah i heard that too
Nicholas Janke z
Where is that tho
Jesus saves. Blessed talented women. To God be all the glory. God is good. Focus on Jesus. :)
Perfect writing and inspired acting - the best of the best!
I've just recently been reminded of how very much I miss Lucille Ball and the three shows that were such a big part of my weekday mornings and Monday nights as a kid.
Yes the late 60s and early 70s were the PERFECT time to be a LUCY fan.....I LOVE LUCY reruns either in daytime or early evening....The LUCY DESI HOUR reruns Sunday nights at 9pm.....The LUCY SHOW reruns on CBS Daytime at 10am est........and brand new episodes of HERE'S LUCY on CBS Monday nights at 9pm est.
This is the episode where Lucy almost drowned to death. It was thanks to Vivian Vance that she was able to be saved.
According to her autobiography, Lucy almost came close to being shocked very badly on the set. She was about to touch a microphone when her husband Gary Morton shouted ‘Stop’.
You have to be a literal daredevil, an overly brave individual and a trailblazer to do what Lucille Ball did.
RIP to Lucy. There will never be another like her.
There’s nothing better than watching Lucy and Vivian and I Lo💗e Lucy loved them since a young girl and still at 64 yrs old, watching them never gets old
🛐🙏🕊R.I.P.🕊🙏 🛐Lucille, Vivian, William and Desi MuchLO🤍E

This wasn't I Love Lucy, though! This wasn't Lucy Ricardo & Ethel Mertz! This was The Lucy Show, which was an unrelated sitcom in which Lucy & Viv played Lucille Carmichael & Vivian Bagley.
It's so comforting and familiar to watch Lucille Ball shows ❤️
Finish it yourself with a doohickey!!! Hysterical.
I’m guessing that everyone had to shout their lines because of poor quality microphones :)
Great show great ladies and thank goodness for UA-cam so that we can still watch these gems.
Lucy liked her actors to say their lines LOUD. She fired a few actors who did not do it that way when they first read the scripts out loud around the table during rehearsals. Remember the 2nd episode with WILLIAM WINDOM? He almost got fired cause she didn't like the way he spoke his lines.
You're guessing wrong. Richard Burton would later say that Lucille taught him how to do comedy: shout your lines.
My mom got me hooked on this show .
Oh my goodness, I so remember watching this show when I was a kid. I love Lucy and Viv together. Dick Martin - Mr. 'Laugh In' himself.
When Lucy had her program in the late 60s, LAUGH IN aired opposite it on Monday nights. They would often poke fun at each other, esp LAUGH IN....Once or twice HERE'S LUCY would mention LAUGH IN. Ironically, both Desi Sr and Lucie Arnaz appeared on LAUGH IN.
@@rtususian Desi Sr.?? Or Desi Jr.?
Those two crazy Damme's! They were good at their craft!
One of the funniest episodes in the Lucy series. One thing I noticed is the shower filled with water in a relative short period of time but when it came close to go over the top of the shower door it stopped. Apparently, the water was cut off at this point since I did not see water coming out from either the shower head or knobs.
One true fact is that Lucy almost drown when she went down and coudn't turn upright and that Viv had to grab her by the hair and pull her up..of course that was a deleted frame
Rosey Rose reminds me of the grape squashing episode on I Love Lucy when the Italian actress in the fight scene practically smothered her when Lucy couldn’t get back up😂
Kylie
Is there footage of it anywhere?
This show had me in tears. 😂😂😂😂😂
Lucy of the 1950s when she was Mrs. Ricardo were the funniest!
No argument there. But the challenge without her husband was to focus entirely on Lucy. This series centered largely on stunts connected with their trying to get along without husbands.
@@RayPointerChannel The funniest eps had nothing to do with them not having husbands! Watch the ep where Lucy buys an electric mattress & the one with the kangaroo costume. Watch the one where Lucy buys a boat. [ETA: Watch the one where Lucy buys a sheep, the one where they start a business doing birthday parties for children, & the one where Lucy waits up for Chris!]
Lucille Ball was a comedy genius. I love her so so much! Thank you for uploading this.
Vivian was no slouch either
Lucy and Vivian were great together. This was one of my favorites - a classic!
Ahhh Lucy I love you! Laverne and Shirley was certainly inspired by this classic. Down to the wonderful L on Lucys shirts
missismom was just thinking the same!
*Laverne and Shirley reference! Good eye! Never thought about that before!*
Yes, when I used to watch LAVERNE & SHIRLEY I looked forward to the episodes that most resembled THE LUCY SHOW, like when they attended night school. Lucy and Viv did that in a first season episode (Lucy and Viv Take Up Chemistry).
Omg this episode is hilarious I've been looking for it forever. Thanks for uploading it
One of other favorite episode. When Lucy and Viv go up on the roof. To fix a hole. They almost fall off.
They were on the roof to PUT UP A TV ANTENNA, not to fix a hole! Lucy's foot went through the roof while they were up there, but they didn't go up on the roof to fix anything, but to install an antenna.
When Viv said I have to take a shower I swear that's not what I thought she was going to say lol
From what I understand, this was done in one take, in front of an audience, cost a lot of money, and was mostly improvised. Something like this could only work with master comedians, which these two are.
Lucille Ball almost drown during that shower scene! If Vivian Vance hadn't realized what was happening and pulled Lucille Ball up to the surface by the roots of her hair, LB might have easily drowned in front of the entire studio audience!
Good comedy never dies they were the best
The plumber in the scene is Officer O'Hara from Adam West's Batman.
Ugh. Batman. That's absolutely asinine
This is my first time watching the Lucy show. Its great!
This episode is a classic.I watched it on a b/w Admiral console TV with 25"screen, when new.I was age 6 or 7, and remember the show was on Monday night.I loved the show when Lucy was Mrs.Carmichael and worked at the bank for Mr.Mooney.Alot of famous stars appeared on it.
Hello Michelle, How are you doing?
She was Lucy Carmichael throughout this whole series! Her name never changed! I prefer the first 3 seasons when she lived in the house w/ Viv & the kids. Lucy & Viv were the Dynamic Duo of comedy!
Lucy and Viv excellent comedy. All their own stunts. So so funny.x
This is one of my favorites it’s the funniest things you’ve ever seen but leave it to Lucy
Lucy I just thought of something. What?? Did you pay this month's water bill? A classic line
I always loved I love Lucy shows. Lucy and Vivian ARE so great. I will always like the I love Lucy shows with all of them together .
A great I love Lucy episode with Stafford Repp who was also in Batman as Chief O Hara.
Please, WATCH THE OPENING!! This is NOT I Love Lucy!! This is an entirely unrelated show. The characters are Lucy Carmichael & Vivian Bagley, NOT Lucy Ricardo & Ethel! Lucy says, "Viv!" in these shows as much as Jack says, "Rose!" in James Cameron's Titanic!! How can people watch The Lucy Show & still think it's I Love Lucy?!! Where did the kids come from? Where are their husbands? Why are they living together? BECAUSE IT'S A DIFFERENT SHOW that has NOTHING to do with I Love Lucy!
That was Awesome. 😄👌🏻
I never saw anything similar but boy, that scene of them almost drowning in the shower sure was overwhelming. 🥶
Remember when lucy locked herself in the freezer?
@@June-tb4vi 🥶 Nope, I haven't seen that one yet. Got a link to it?

I love her. I love Lucy and the Lucy show WITH Vivian Vance💞💞
Hello Suzy, How are you doing?
This is one of my all time favorite episode. 💗🤣🤣🤣🤣💗😽🤗
They were fabulous!
Lucy was right. the shower neck hardware might get marred by the slip-joint pliers.but the shower head nozzle would be ridiculous looking 5 inches higher.
At the rate it was filling up, the shower should've full before lucy removed the cover........ one of their best episodes
Thank you so much for sharing this great episode. I've loved it all my life.
👦👨
Thank goodness for utube And the Lucy show ... still so funny after all these years !!!
This was the episode where Lucy was actually drowning. Vivian really saved her life
Besides the grape stomping episode of I LOVE LUCY, Lucille Ball almost drowned in real life when they were filming the shower scene here. It is amazing the things Lucy (and Viv) did in the name of comedy and just to make people laugh. You don't even see women of their age nowadays doing stuff like this.
I remember this episode , the shows were syndicated to the BBC in the UK. This and Sergeant Bilko were the most popular comedy shows on the BBC in the late fifties , early 1960s .
Lucy made an appearance on one of the Bilko episodes, BILKO'S APE MAN.
[I tried locating the video online but couldn't find it]
This show wasn't on in the '50s. It ran from 1962-1968.
Classic scene, delighted to rediscover it here.
Before it's time. Two single women living together raising their kids.
jeffy john, Dan Quayle would not approve.
If you want to see negative portrayals of women, just watch about anything today on HBO or Showtime. They all are either empty headed narcissists or promiscuous murderers.
Tom Anderson Relax, Tom, and take the stick out of your ass. You’re taking the comment too seriously.
Actually on a few episodes Lucy was temporarily employed. In later seasons after Viv left the series, Lucy was employed as Mr. Mooney's secretary.
@@mikeallentoff2692 Or teen pregnancies
This is the Episode that made me watch "I Love Lucy" back in 2014. Now I have been through all her shows, and they are the best!

Great family show, great memories of life
Hilarious. Still holds up.
Lucy’s only great granddaughter recently passed away 🙁...
I bet Desi Arnaz had a big laugh along with William Frawley.
What? William Frawley wasn't a co-star on this show? And Desi wasn't producing the show at this point. This is The Lucy Show, not I Love Lucy.
@@DonnaBrooks They both could've watched the episode and had a good laugh.
@@walterschivo9123 Oh, I see! I doubt William Frawley would want to watch anything with Vivian Vance in it. But Desi would have laughed. Lucie Arnaz would have loved it, too.

"If you don't lower your prices, you're going to bring on socialized plumbing." That would make the prices even higher, except instead of Lucy not putting in a shower she can't afford, she'd be paying to put in a shower she can't afford - someone else's shower that Lucy and Viv and the kids couldn't use.

The good old days.
Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance make a great comedy team. Everyone loves them. Too bad Lucillie Ball passed away 30 years ago exactly but Vivian Vance, maybe she still alive or gone. The sixties were groooovy baby and so were they!
Vivian Vance passed away in 1979.
My sincere thanks to alexisdiva9 for the comment made to me. Vivian Vance may have passed away in 1979, but Lucille Ball passed away a decade later in 1989. Two great comedians. They may have left us in the comedy world, but their work will not be forgotten. Thanks again, alexisdiva9. You rock, sister!
Believe it or not, Keith, I'm only seeing your very kind comment to me now - thanks!
These two girls remind me of me and my girlfriend LOL
Honestly, when I was in college there was a red-haired girl in one of my classes who acted like LUCY CARMICHAEL. Seriously! She was always disrupting class with her antics.
TOO FUNNY!
loved it so funny 👍👍👍👍👍
Needed this laughter 😂
Thank you
Love the closing credits music
This classic "Lucy Show" episode rivals the best episodes done on "I Love Lucy".
Verbal Volley why did they need another bathroom the girl could have done her hair in her room and she shouldn’t spent so much time in the bathroom I got in trouble for that even taking a shower I get in rinse my body wash and rinse off again and I’m out in less than 5 minutes unless I wash my hair even then it’s less than 5 extra minutes cuz I wash my hair rinse and then put conditioner on and wash my body and then rinse off all at once
@@kellymcfalls1458 Uhmm...the show was a parody and making the extra bathroom was a plot line, an excuse for making another funny episode. Nothing more...nothing less.
@@kellymcfalls1458 Because it was a comedy show and they needed a theme to work on for that particular weeks episode. Thankfully, it was probably the best "Lucy Show" episode of the series, along with "Lucy and Viv put up a TV Antenna".
@@TheVerbalVolley The show was based on a book LIFE WITHOUT GEORGE; in it, the two women try to save money by doing home repairs by themselves.
@@TheVerbalVolley But Lucy did that in I Love Lucy, too. Remember the wall papering the bedroom fiasco??
The quality of the show declined later on, but the first season was (in my opinion) every bit as funny as ILL.
Yeah I agree, such an underrated show.
@Marquisha Franklin
True. I think it was funnier the last two season when she worked at the bank for Mr. Mooney and celebrity guests came each week.
Part of the reason is, Desi Sr was the executive producer for the first half of the first season (you can see his name in the opening credits), AND she still had her original writers from MY FAVORITE HUSBAND and I LOVE LUCY before they left at the end of the 2nd season.
The show started going slowly downhill in season 4, 1965-66. Lucy moved to LA and Viv left the show. Mr. Mooney was funny, but Mary Jane was a poor substitute for Viv. Also after 1964, the original writers left, that hurt too.
Best episode from this series
FUN TRIVIA FACT: Joe Melvin (the Plumber) was played by Stafford Repp, the original Chief O'Hara on the 1960's Batman TV series.
