Congratulations on your regained health. I’m on a different boat with my cycle; they’re alarmingly heavy and horribly painful. No matter what diet I’ve had (vegan, keto, carnivore), they’ve been this way. I had hoped carnivore would help but around 6 months in, I knew that even though I felt great in every other way, this still wasn’t optimal because I had little to no progress there. Something wasn’t balancing. I’m so thankful you had Ray Peat on your channel because I only got snips of stuff from him from people I follow on Insta. So your interview helped me get more insight and I’ve been implementing carrot salads and healthy carbs and I got my cycle today and so far it’s pleasant. I hope it keeps it up! 🤞🏽 Thank you for all that you share and here’s to both of our continued health. 💖 You are awesome.

Sounds like estrogen dominance... Calcium D-Glucarate, raw carrot, activated charcoal, and a little bio-identical progesterone during my luteal phase helped me...❤

My periods used to be very heavy and painful. I tried everything, the only thing that finally helped was to switch to cloth pads and unbleached toilet paper. It was caused by chemical sensitivity.

You look radiant!! Thanks for getting me onto ray peat. I first saw your interview with Sarah Carnivore Yogi and headed in that direction. I gained so much strength and energy from adding in OJ and raw milk 4 months ago. My doctor even prescribed me to drink raw milk so I can use it as a tax deduction since it is a medical reason and hella expensive to ship it from a state next door (only can get it in PA not in Ohio). Anyways thank you for speaking up and sharing your story. It has helped so many and continue to help others as you are a true blessing
PS I was the same way in high school and into college running myself into the ground (running 6 miles a day as well for 7 years) while eating almonds and oatmeal and also being on BC. How far we have come!!!

Wonderful news Ash, your dedication paid off! While I’m a few
decades older than you (I have “kids” your age 😉) and experiencing challenges in different areas, it became clear watching your journey that the root causes are very similar for so many imbalances. I am about a year behind you on my nourishing journey and so grateful to you and Sarah for sharing yours! It is wonderful to just eat real, nutrient dense foods, in good balance each meal…from All macro groups!! After having severely carb restricted for several years, it did take a period of adjustment for my body to process carbs properly and avoid long rises in blood sugar. Balancing carbs with protein was key for this.👍 I am amazed at how well my body now responds to OJ, rice, honey, real ice cream, milk, squash, fruit etc. on a CGM, after just 5 months of balanced meals every 2-4 hours. And, my 96 degree waking temp is now consistently in the 97 F range, bye bye cold hands & feet! 🙏💫

I don't follow you but I got here from your interview with carnivore yogi. I also had amenorrhea for 14 years, but in my case the main issue is PCOS. I did keto for two years and when I upped the amount of animal products I got my period back, but I haven't been able to regulate it. Thanks for sharing, I'll try some of these tips and see how it goes ;)

I have CFS and EDS with dysautonomia and In keto omad and never hungry. Ive started eating 3x a month of some apple, cherried, sweet potatoes and other root veggies and feel better but Im such a sugar addict it makes my hunger go nuts..so i use that to my advantage and the next day i can eat 2 keto meals with heavy fat. Its so tricky as last winter i lost 20 lbs when i wanted to keep my 10 lb buffer.. This summer I decided to be like bear and aimed for 15 lbs weight as i knew some of that would be water, I predicted around 10 lbs fat. I finally got my period and it was a pleasant surprise!! Been a long time pal... Its so hard to eat more and the energy i save..i dont want to make more food 😰 high omega6 is what I stay away from the most and eat a lot of greek yogurt with apple and walnuts/pecans quite often. I precook scrambled beef with onion so its ready in a bind. I make extra meals each time so i have leftovers and some to freeze. 💖

Then I finally realized how badly my body needed the nutrition. Now I eat every few hours a day and I've gained healthy weight, my periods are no longer painful and not as frequently close together as they use to be. Continue to nourish yourself!! Peace and love ❤

Congratulations! Your story is quite the inspiration! My biggest question is to the details of how you meld Ray Pear principles with the Root Cause Protocol. I guess eating liver every day answers the question as to what you replaced cod liver oil with for the retinol, but more details on the parts of Morley’s and Ray’s work that seem to contradict would be nice to hear. I’m personally doing bits of each myself but I’m much earlier in my journey and am trying to figure it out. That said, I’m already better than I was a year ago, but I’d like to understand the details better so I don’t have to think about it all the time, like you said, and hearing your updates certainly gives me a push to keep going. 🧡

Omg I really appreciate this video... I got my first recovery period like ten days ago... and I loved the first ten pounds I gained, from having no butt to gaining 3cms in that area... But the last pounds I have gained like in the torso and I am crazy seeing myself at the mirror...
So I tried yesterday to workout for compensating the fact that I am gaining fact around the belly area and... bad idea, I couldn't sleep, my adrenals turn up the fire for everything that seems not right...
I have to have pacience... Even if I got one period, I am not fully recovered... I think the journey didn't end...
And for me it's really difficult to eat healthy, I have no access to grass fed meat or liver... But I consume those things from the supermarket hoping the best... I would like to try another type of high nutrient foods. Your meals are goals for me 💜
This video made me feel less alone and that I don't have to make myself miserable... Even when I am afraid of gaining a lot of weight.

People tell us that we have changed our mind on what a healthy diet is and we say yes, that's true! Because we have learned from our mistakes and found something that makes us feel better. And while one approach (keto, vegan, carnivore) may have short term benefits, it doesn't mean that it is the best approach forever! Keep up the good work!

Mama pride over here (I know I'm not your mom) I'm 48 and have been a chronic under-eater my whole life and my thyroid crapped out on me in 2007 and I had it radiated so I'm stuck on armor thyroid the rest of my life. Anyway I've tried for years to do keto and carnivore and I've never felt worse but I just keep trying. *Bangs head on wall* When I eat a little bit of rice, the next day I feel superhuman. I'm undernourished yet 20 pounds overweight. Probably going to be hitting menopause in the next few years and I'm really curious to look up this Ray Peat way of eating. I remember joking with you girls about how you named your ovaries and I know Sadé was one of them. I'm assuming your dear sister is still walking this path and keeping her eyes on the prize. I too have adopted a metabolic way of eating. It definitely is a full time job! I too had been LCHF, then keto, then carnivore - all in the pursuit of "optimal health". My adrenals and my thyroid are now both very low. A couple years ago, I started packing on the weight. Over a 12-month period , I had gained 60 lbs, when I had never had a weight problem ever in my life. My temperatures are low, and at one point waking up, my temp was 96.1. I am wondering how you had such a low metabolism, but did not gain weight? I thought low metabolism = weight gain. Unfortunately, now that I have started metabolic eating, I'm gaining even more weight. :-(

You are right in thinking that a low metabolism = weight gain - at least for most people, especially if you don't exercise. Ashley and Sarah are both young and used to work out a lot, so maybe that was waht they were so thin. Anyway, everyone is different. What you described sound a lot like hypothyroidism. I think you need thyroid hormone. Hope you can get the help you need and start feeling better.

Your story is similar to mine, I started getting into health and fitness at age 19 I was eating very low calories for many years stopped having a period at age 21 and I didn't get it back until age 31 so about 10 years not menstruating I was put on birth control but I didn't stay on it for all those years, I feel let down by the healthcare system because instead of trying to find out what was causing my amenorrhea all they did was give me birth control never bothered to ask me if I was eating enough if I was exercising too much, my story is a little strange because the way I got my period back was I had my tubes tied in 2014 after I healed my period mysteriously came back to this day no doctor could explain to me how that happened but I'm glad it did, but just because my period came back didn't mean I was healthy because now at age 39 I'm diagnosed with osteoporosis and I know part of the reason is because of that time period that I didn't menstruate, I would recommend for all young women who have amenorrhea or are under eating please get a
Dexa scan when you're in your 30s don't wait until you're in your 60s which is usually the standard age they give it because the harm you do to your body when you're younger will come back to haunt you later in life but maybe it doesn't have to,, maybe if a doctor cared enough when I was still young to ask me if I was eating enough and if I had early intervention maybe I wouldn't have osteoporosis today but I'm so glad you're telling your story on a public form because these videos will help girls who are going through this right now, I wish this video was available when I was younger I'm still struggling with orthorexia but at least I'm aware of it and still fighting for health done the right way no restricting calories no over exercising only making sure I get enough nutrients

I am 43 and have had amenorrhea for going on 5 years now. I do workout fasted, eat low carb (orthorexia) high protein diet. 2 meals a day. I ADORE food, but loathe my natural pear shaped body.... I'm cranky, think about food, how much movement I NEED to get in each day in order to eat, lost strength, cannot gain muscle just a rail - like no butt, no boobs, but hey I got the 6 pack and wear a size 0. Insert sarcasm. Fear of changing everything and weight gain keep me stuck.
I did briefly for a month try the all in approach and just gobbled everything I wanted when I wanted. I was sick. No energy. Gained 20# in 2 weeks and by end of that month had type 2 diabetes....

    • @NejlikaBG
      @NejlikaBG 2 роки тому

Maybe you should just try implementing the approach Ashley and Sarah implemented - eating both protein and carbs (mostly from fruit) + some fat at each meal. And increase your carb intake vert slowly, maybe read Kate Deering's book. I know this sucks, I hope you feel better soon.

Usually diabetes takes a few decades... Insulin resistance is running in the background until the floodgates open and your body cant hold back high blood sugars anymore...unless you werent implying that and was just the order of declaration.. The please forgive me. 🙏 Id be eating some carbs even if cycled to use the insulin fluctuations to help build muscle. I follow thomas delaurer and high intensity health for exercise on keto albeit too disabled to use my advice. All my joints dislocate so really challenging to build muscle myself. I grow indoor plants in my basement so now i do stairs twice a day..double than before right? One day at a time work on ways that get you towards a little bit better than today. 🙏

i watched all these girls who got their period back, but most of them were underweight or overly exercise. While me myself, i am more on the heavier side on the BMI scale (170cm with 73kg), i only do light yoga twice a week, but i do eat so little (i do one meal a day fasting, and maybe only eat less than 1000 cal per day). I always have trouble with losing weight, i always eat less and less but my weight fluctuates easily. Yo-yo weight. Until suddenly i lost my period for 2 months now.. Do you think bigger girl like me also have to gain some more weight? or actually i have to lose more weigh to reach a healthier BMI?

Hqppy 4 u! Whatever works! I think keto is just a great teacher of relearning fat is good for us... ketosis is a natural state... but, if something doesn't cause me inflammation, (sounds, sprouted grain) thats healthy to me. Neisha Berry got pregnant, she's "ketovore" and eats when hungry, high fat.. Maybe someone with a high metabolism like you needs carbs because you burn it off so fast....? I gain weight so easy... I think my body is too quick to store energy... Also, aren't women supposed to be 15 to 25% body fat or you lose your period? Did you try higher fat before adding carbs? I think everyone has a different carb threshold... Dr Berry says women aren't supposed to have 6 packs... too lean

I wish you were right when you say 'your family doesn't care' if you gain weight... mine does. The women in my family have a disordered relationship with food... I don't blame them though. I have gained tons of weight and it has been hard. My sister is getting married next year and the pressure to lose weight is building. But trying to keep in mind what is important, especially thinking that I want to get pregnant soon.. healthy nourished body is more important.

I would like to share with you about medical biomagnetism. Amenorrhea is caused by the parvovirus B19. It affects the Fallopian tubes.
You might seek out a biomagnetist to see if there are residual effects left.
Here are some of the symptoms caused by the parvovirus:
Leading cause of infertility in women.
    Endometriosis and false myomas.
If the parvovirus is associated with Streptococcus G or other bacterium, it produces an ovarian cyst.
It may also be involved in the formation of fibroma and other tumural pathologies in the pelvis.
    Dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, false human papillomavirus.
Intrauterine bleeding and vaginal discharge with bad odor.
    Ureters and prostate problems.
    Bladder disorders in men, cystitis.
Irritability. Flu, fever, pink face, juvenile diabetes,
    Bulimia, spontaneous abortion.
    Low back pain.
Biomagnetism gets to the heart of the problem. Pathogens can give the false belief that food is the problem because when one treats themselves with food, the problem goes away. The pathogen may still be dormant in the body. The foods might have made the pathogen active.
What I don't like about the "food" being the problem is that it can also demonize it.
Biomagnetism is the greatest discovery ever made. Dr. Isaac Goiz discovered the biomagnetic pair. You might look into it.

This is sad, you did everything wrong. Too much activity, terrible food and too much stress. I have learnt from experience also. I do not think exercise everyday is healthy for men and women. My partner is very healthy hormonally and has nice shape, most of the time is very lazy and eats rice, beef, beans, açaí. It just shows there is more to health than diet and it is sad to see so many carnivores or other dieters get things 75% right but then kill themselves with fasting and too much activity. Life it simple if you look and feel good you are doing things right.
