- With Maurice Gibb's death in 2003, followed by Robin Gibb's in 2012, the Bee Gees' long ride on the pop charts seemed to be over. But now the remaining member of the group, Barry Gibb, is back on tour, joined not by his brothers but by his son, Stephen. Anthony Mason goes on the road with Gibb, and talks with him about his music, his family, and his pop legacy.

All the fans of the BeeGees from the late 60s are still fans to this day 4-7-2024. Barry Gibb is 78 and still performing. He was my first girll crush in 1969. Im 64, now and I listen to BGs daily to keep the memories flowing. And thats no, 'Jive Talkin.'
Barry doesn't look ridiculous like a lot of those old pop stars who won't give it up; probably because he's a true, gifted, genuine talent. I'm glad he decided to share his legacy with us once again.

I saw him at the Hollywood Bowl in 2014 and he was amazing. I became emotional when they played a video of Robin singing "I Started A Joke" for a few lines and then Barry sang the rest live. My favorite Bee Gee's song.

This actually brings tears to my eyes. There are still two Beatles left. But there's just only one Bee Gee left. The Beatles were just friends. The Bee Gees are brothers, bonded by blood. And if you ever had a brother you would know how Barry felt when they all left this world. And they are also bonded by their musical accomplishment which is indeed one of the best during the last century. The one in which my generation was born into this world.

I'm not a singer. But I know how he feels. I'm the last of my immediate family. Lost my last sibling in December. I'm still dealing with it. Depression is real when your alone. I pray for Barry he's such a important part of society. His music helps people like me. Funny thing Barry and I are the same age.

they really did harmonize amazingly. the thing that really impressed me about him was how prolific he was as a songwriter. That guy was banging them out for 50 years?!?!?!?
That is definitely what stands out, his humility and his deep love and why he is married to Linda 50 years. They were meant for the stage, they hoped it, wanted it and were so good. Even so some got caught in the trappings, so hard not to. What a career.
I cant say how much happiness these three have given me. Now when i hear them i get a lump in my throat. Many tears have been shed for the loss of Maurice and Robin. And it makes me think of my departed husband because we always danced to their music. God bless you Barry.

I turned 60 last week.. I hear these guys singing and it takes me right back to very specific times and places during the 70s... only music can do that.. it was a magical time, and these brothers made some magical music.. their harmonies were something to behold.. and I mean that.
Thank God for the Bee Gees! Hopefully, history will remember them for all times to come. RIP Andy, Maurice & Robin. We’ll always miss you.
They had a sound & style of their own. Their music let's you travel back to the 70's to enjoy happier times, memories. I miss those days and those times but at least you can time travel mentally.

It's got to be gut wrenching. Sometimes when he talk about them he'll choke up and tears come to my eyes. He loved them so much and they loved him.
It must be hard, but I think he knows it would be with their blessing as music has been all their lives..I think it keeps him going tbh and it does honour their memory too. I believe they would be smiling down on him 🙏🙂

My heart goes out to him. The music they created together has defined our generation and will live on forever. But, the Bee Gee's were more than a band or a songwriting team. They were flesh and blood brothers - family. And that separates them from all the rest. I'm one of four siblings and I lost my younger brother a few years ago. It cut me deeply, so I have an idea of the amount of the pain Barry must be feeling. I don't know how it's emotionally possible to go on after losing all of your younger siblings. The music they created together is undeniable and will go down in history.
My husband is the last of his family living. He completely understands Barry’s pain and grief. He’s been the last standing since 2012 like Barry
Barry Gibb is never alone. He embodies all the eloquence of life that poverty or fame or being bullied despite being truly dangerously handsome before I was old enough to recognize it. God bless him now and always!

I'm 12 years old, and i love Bee Gees, A few months ago, i believe it was before christmas, a friend of mine showed me Stayin' Alive, And i asked dad if it was a good band, and he told me to listen to them, And the first songs i listened to was from the album Mythology, e.g : Barker Of the UFO, Massachusets, stayin' alive. and alot more, and i actually loved it, so i thought i'd listen to more songs of them, and now Bee Gees has become a part of my life, i love them, imo they're the best band ever. But it's a pity that Maurice and robin is dead. R.I.P

Lukas Pettersson I never was big into the bg's and i was born in 1970 and had older brothers so I of course heard them.. but i was into music like boston and the who the rolling stones early on. But i was listening to the the Red Hot Chili peppers LIve at Cigale here on youtube (and if you have not listened to that live performance i STRONGLY recommend you do) and john frisciante, my fav guitar player ( i play guitar), was doing a cover of "how deep is your love" and i found that I really loved that song. The bg's definitely could evoke emotion with their music and to me that is what makes a great band. If you can make people really "feel" something. Good, bad.. anger.. resentment.. whatever.. evoking some kind of emotion.. hopefully it's joy or happiness.. but whatever it is if it makes you hunger for more than your deed is truly done.

When I was a kid I was literally obsessed with the Bee Gees' SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER album. This album was so awesome that it was played on rock, pop, and R&B stations, during the Disco era.

Ye same I was a teenager in the 70s so spent many a cold dark night in my room studying with the radio playing quietly in the background and hearing those amazing beautiful memorable Bee Gees songs playing some for the very first time
First album I ever owned. I was 9 years old and I got it for Christmas.

Barry, as the last of the Bee Gees, shows people who have lost loved ones that they can go on...that there is still life to live and find joy and fulfillment. I have lost a son, but I go on, knowing that I have things to do. Barry is a great guy, and he's a wonderful role model. I love all the Bee Gees and Gibb brothers and their songs. What fantastic and talented people they were! A huge thank you to them for all the great music and entertainment they gave us. Their music will live on forever!
I remember buying my first Bee Gees' LP in the 60s. It had this fourth guy on the cover who was not a Gibb. Someone told me who he was, but I've since forgotten now. I still play the music from that album all the time. Good thing for digital music because that LP had grooves so well worn that...well.
Odd how the brother's deaths started with the youngest (Andy) to the oldest. Then again, Barry came into this world as a solo act, and that's how he will leave it.

That's the beauty of having a loving supportive wife who's been there since day one she wanted him to go back out there and she helped him go back out and do what him and his brothers iconically did for many years
I can't even begin to imagine the level of pain Maurice went through. As someone who had intestinal problems like myself, all I can tell you is gut pain is the absolute worst. I've broken my knee, had a tooth infection, ear infection, but nothing NOTHING comes even close to the pain of intestinal pain. I heard Maurices heart stopped and I have no doubt that it was directly from the pain, it was so intense it induced a heart attack.
oh man ..i am sorry ..man i had a tooth infection that nearly killed me ..and to say that intestinal pains are even worst than tooth infections ..i couldn't even imagine

I have a friend who has Crohn's disease. You are SO right about gastrointestinal pain. It is beyond excruitiating. God Bless All the Gibb brothers and family.

Actally..stimulation of vagus nerve in intestinal area caused a rapid decrease in blood pressure and heart stops..but abdominal pain is excrutiating

I was 11 or 12 yrs. old when I first heard the Bee Gees. I am now nearly 71! Still love them!!
Barry was always the leader and the strong one, and he is the last man standing i believe for that reason, i hope he makes it another 20 years, the Bee Gee's will live on forever like most of the greats, RIP ROBIN AND MORRIS 🙏
They were an amazing group! Barry is continuing the legacy without his brothers but they are watching over proudly

As a retired performer, I can tell you that the love from the audience really feeds your soul, no matter what. Once you've got the audience rooting for you, you feel this actual wave of energy, love maybe, but for sure they root for your success. It's a heady feeling, rather addictive and a phenomenon that you don't get anywhere else in your life. I'm old now, but I sure wish I could go back in time and be on that stage where a standing ovation was everything. Now my two children are that.
That elation, joy, and affirmation you've experienced on-stage is but a tiny foretaste of what awaits those who have resisted sin and who have trusted Christ Jesus to deliver them into an eternity with Him. i had 2 brothers that died and we all sang together as a family so i get it....and you are right it will always hurt......i am almost 70 and i cried today....i cried watching this video.....i cry a lot.....i miss them a lot.....the pain in my heart is so bad and the knots in my throat wont let me swallow.......but God died so we all may see each other again and never be separated again.....

yes....i had written in another post about the sont IN THE LIVING YEARS by Mike and the Mechanics that he wrote the song after he was on a plane flying to see his father to mend their broken hearts about something between them but on his way he got the message that his father passed before he could get there so he wrote the song....say what you need to say to your loved ones before it is too late....in the living years....many of us i'm sure have had things like this happen to us and our loved ones ..my brother tried to call me to ask for forgiveness before he died but i didnt get the message til too late......but we loved each other but i wish we could have gotten things said before it was too late....and for Barry i wish him the best and he must know all would have been forgiven and he as i must remember the love....
