Use two single cycle waveforms on two different tracks. Set the LFOs on both, and you have two oscillations that interact with each other in insane ways. I’m using this as a drone and ever so slowly changing the filter frequency of both tracks at different speeds. Just wow.
Accidental life quote: "Make sure to check your destination before you continue" Enrique Martinez :P BTW, cool video, i just bought the Digitakt and your videos are helping a lot!
Really grateful for this video. Recently bought a Digitakt, and the LFO has been the one thing that confused me somewhat so I haven't messed with it much. I had no idea it was so deep! Thanks so much for doing this, it's helped me a lot.
its crazy the things it can do, start with a single sound and set it to filter. See how the LFO is affecting the filter then change the destination one by one, you'll then apply the way it was originally moving the filter to how its moving its new destination! Good way to learn hands on.
Thanks for uploading! Great for beginners to get in touch with the system behind it :) I would love some more material like that, related to the other pages/facettes of the digitakt!
Thanks a lot Ricky! The Elektron team may be thankful to you for your videos about Digitakt. They are the reason why I bought it. The LFO function was perfectly explained and thank you a lot for this videos. It is really hepls me to reach out what the Digitakt is.
Fantastic tutorial! Very in depth and well explained. I appreciate that you're creating content like this- your teaching skills are fantastic, and I love the moments when you throw in bits of advice that could only be learned by someone with your level of knowledge. Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Great tutorial as always! One of my favorite things to do is to LFO a tom's filter frequency per step and crank the resonance, closing it on a triggerless trig. Makes some really funky computer beep noises. Then pop a delay on one of the steps...makes for some cool spacey noises!
Thanks for this. I'll probably watch it a few times and I appreciate your presentation, pacing and this is a great topic that many of us haven't really spent much time on.
Way late, but got a deal on a new DT for the same as used. Couldn't say no. Now comes the video binge beyond the GAS reviews and what seems like forever shipping time wait.
Hello Ricky . Great videos. Very calming voice. Hope you are good. I always struggled with the free mode not being tempo syncable as it started at a different place everytime I stopped and played the track.. I realised that I needed to perimeter lock the 1st note to the lfo switch in the trig page. This way you can have lots of notes after that , all being affected acurately along the sequence. Maybe explore that ?
Your dog reminds me of cat, he's breath stinks too and that's he's favourite place to lay too. Cool tutorial you always have a chilled way of teaching.
Thanks as always enrique! sick jam. Now I don't have to fiddle around to get the LFO to sound decent. Would you ever do something with the Midi and circuit or something? I have my mono station and circuit hooked up to the Midi and I feel like I'm in uncharted territory :D
I'm also puzzled by the various sample and sound storage options. .. sound browser, sound pool, + drive etc. .. I understand why they exist but not clear how i populate and move sounds around from my project to the browser / pool etc ...
i would like to see multiple lfo’s per-track & also multiple destinations per-lfo. one lfo & one destination is very limiting coming from a modular background. i just bought a digitakt this week & already reaching some limits.
Dude, your vids are super chill, thanks! Thinking about buying the Digitakt. I've been reading about some issues with syncing other hardware to the Digitakt clock. Stuff like glitches and unstable bpm. Did you ever have any issues?
I haven't had any issues. But at the same time it's rare that I use it as my master clock. Sending notes out to things has been pretty spot on. But until you hear real solid timing with something like a multi-clock, you shouldn't notice a crazy difference
@@RickyTinez Thanks for your message. Why would you not use Digitakt as a master clock? My goal is not to use my MacBook in my live setup and Digitakt has got it all inside, drums and sequence. Thought that would be enough if I hook it up to my Minitaur and play the rest live.
Is there a formula for figuring out how to get quarter note or dotted eight or half note triplet LFOs? Wish there was a mode that would start the LFO at the start phase position when you pressed run, but then let it free run.
Thank you Enrique. Another great video. Hey guys! my girlfriend wants to get involved with my Digitakt by sampling her voice into it. Can anyone suggest a way for her to sing into the Direct recording of Digitakt? What mic setup is needed anyone know? Thank you. 🎤🎤
thank you so much! @elektron: pay the good man :) It would so cool to have tutorials like that. I learn how the get the best out of my machine and it educates me
hi, loved your tutorial, i learned a lot and quick. Still have one question: one of my favorite function is the sample slot destination, cause it changes your sounds kind of randomly. here is the question: how could we control this destination good enough to choose only a part of sounds that are in my sample slot? means: i just want my LFO hi hat changing between the 4 hi hat i put in my sample slots. not sure im clear. Anyway, cheers!!
hmmm you might have to be pretty specific in terms of of how much depth is being sent to the destination (sample source im guessing) Also, what wave shape you're using. Maybe try a square wave (if it's in there) if not im sure the triangle wave will work, especially if the samples are right next to each other!
I understand what you are saying. So, I used a square LFO. If the Hi Hat in the slot is lets say, 2 slots up,,then turn the LFO depth down just a little bit. Here is video from that obnoxious annoying guy WES from perfect circuit explaing what I mean. He talks about it ijn this video : ua-cam.com/video/2amrA2tx658/v-deo.html
Thank you VERY much for explaining this stuff. Where did you learn all this stuff? I know you figure a lot of stuff out as you go but I’m wondering where your basic knowledge on this stuff came from. I ask because I guess I’d like to learn.
Honestly just reading the manual like it was my new favorite novel. After each step, trying to put it to use. Eventually becomes muscle memory. You learn one synth, you basically learn them all!
Enrique, ok cool. Thanks! I want to get a Digitakt and after watching your videos and some of the others on UA-cam I’ve decided to do it. I was considering an Octotrack but think I’ll start out with a “Digi” first.
Que brutal las posibilidades que ofrece esta poderosa herramienta, gracias por hacernos más gráfico y facil el entendimiento de esta seccióntan tediosa y aburrida del manual. (Y)
It's a powerful LFO... I'm only saddened that there is only 1 per track. I tend to like to modulate multiple things and have used as many as 4 on a single sound before in other systems to achieve movement in the track.
well since the digitakt only has one LFO it's destination would be to itself making it useless :( unless you mean parameter locking it's destination on each step that im not sure but would be absolutely insane.
I reckon your pretty good Enrique...but if this is for beginners , I think I have to sell my digitakt. The Trig conditions tut was impossible ...I hoped this beginner tut would be better for me. No offence intended ..its me I reckon.
I can't remember if you are doing this as much in your newer videos, but you use the term "guys" a lot in your videos. I get this word is used to refer to "everyone" most often, but maybe you want to work on being more inclusive towards women who are casually left out of the music community often by us dudes being (usually unintentionally) less inclusive. Maybe just something you want to think about. Love your videos, thanks for all the knowledge you share. Definitely thinking of getting a Digitakt.
Use two single cycle waveforms on two different tracks. Set the LFOs on both, and you have two oscillations that interact with each other in insane ways. I’m using this as a drone and ever so slowly changing the filter frequency of both tracks at different speeds. Just wow.
Trying this now, which LFOs do you use for each for best results?
I'd like to tell you that nearly two years later, you're still helping people with this one. Thanks. Are you still rocking with your DT?
YES!
Accidental life quote: "Make sure to check your destination before you continue" Enrique Martinez :P BTW, cool video, i just bought the Digitakt and your videos are helping a lot!
Hahaha that's hilarious! Synth life lessons volume 1
hahaha
Going back over these videos because I recently picked up a Syntakt and theres quite a bit of overlap.
Very helpful, thanks 🙏
This is gold. I understand the LFO page so much better now, which was a complete mystery to me previously.
I love that you use one of my favorite terms to describe a thing that happens during experimentation - "happy accidents." that's what it's all about!
Thanks for do beginner stuff. I like you way of explaining and teaching. Great stuff!!!
Best explanation of a LFO I've seen. So nice to hear it simplified. Thank you, Ricky Tinez.
Really grateful for this video. Recently bought a Digitakt, and the LFO has been the one thing that confused me somewhat so I haven't messed with it much. I had no idea it was so deep! Thanks so much for doing this, it's helped me a lot.

This was super useful. Just got a Digitakt and was really confused about the LFO, this explained everything really well. Love your videos!
Thanks for uploading! Great for beginners to get in touch with the system behind it :)
I would love some more material like that, related to the other pages/facettes of the digitakt!
Really loved this video! I use the LFO a lot, but it’s great to learn what’s actually happening :)
Just starting my Digitakt journey, this was helpful. Thanks!
Thank You. I hope to see more tutorials from You. Keep on rec. :)
Woohoo!! Thank you ever so much! This section of the Digitakt has always been a hot mess to me.
Plus one same for me.
man, @Ricky Tinez, you're really good at teaching bro, much respect!
Thanks a lot Ricky! The Elektron team may be thankful to you for your videos about Digitakt. They are the reason why I bought it. The LFO function was perfectly explained and thank you a lot for this videos. It is really hepls me to reach out what the Digitakt is.
Very helpful. Been messing with the LFO section without really grasping anything besides pan and volume shaping, but this gives me ideas now
Fantastic tutorial! Very in depth and well explained. U could acheive this by recording a live knob sweep also no? Do u still use digitak now?
I haven’t even got a Digitakt but your videos are so good - thanks for explaining LFOs!!
no worries thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. I'll probably watch it a few times and I appreciate your presentation, pacing and this is a great topic that many of us haven't really spent much time on.
Great job ! We just got a Digitakt and we will for sure use these great videos of yours. Keep going !
Awesome! Great example of how easy it is to get something started and build upon it extremely quickly and get drawn deeper and deeper into it.
Love these videos, Ricky, I'm enjoying them while rediscovering my Digitakt! Thanks for sharing.
This makes the Takt so powerful...
Awesome tutorial, man. I was a bit mixed up with precisely this. thanks!!!
👍🏼Thanx Ricky! much more friendly than the manual!
Thanks mate, very informative. I never really got into the Digitakt LFO until now
Thanks for this video. Although I'm not a beginner with Elektron products, this cleared up a couple things for me.
Super tutorial vid .thanks. I’ll check out the rest you did. Concentrating on one function at at a time really helps🙂
Thanks for this. Very informative, fun. Going over all the rest now!
Thanks for the tut you explained my frustration on the Digi LFO.
You should have way more subs bro. You explain things awesome. You’re the coolest!
Way late, but got a deal on a new DT for the same as used. Couldn't say no. Now comes the video binge beyond the GAS reviews and what seems like forever shipping time wait.
Thanks man your video's are so well rounded and easy to digest .
Appreciate these videos! Really helps us beginners.
Great video. The LFO page will now get attention from me. I appreciate your work. Thank you.
Thanks Michael, glad i could help.
Thanks for this! Would love a Model:Samples LFO tutorial video also -- definitely not as intuitive as some of the other functions on that box!
This is so cool. Honestly I am excited to move away from my DAW and jam out with this and a Digitone
Hello Ricky . Great videos. Very calming voice. Hope you are good.

Whoa that’s incredible. I never knew about that LFO switch lock! Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you very much for sharing these useful videos
Love them!!
Thank you for the in depth tutorial.
More dog! loving it! Your latest release on bandcamp is awesome, BTW!
"off it's meds" :)
Ohhh super thanks!!! I finaly understand everything! Thanks a lot
Great video. Well explained.
Your dog reminds me of cat, he's breath stinks too and that's he's favourite place to lay too. Cool tutorial you always have a chilled way of teaching.
she even sleeps on the top of the couch haha. Half cat for sure.
Thanks as always enrique! sick jam. Now I don't have to fiddle around to get the LFO to sound decent. Would you ever do something with the Midi and circuit or something? I have my mono station and circuit hooked up to the Midi and I feel like I'm in uncharted territory :D
Good stuff. This was a great watch!
Ricky, you nailed it with this video, brilliant!!! Peace:)))
Very helpful, thank you!
I using the lfo with hithat...destination volume..is amazing!
tooootally, even the pitch but ever so slightly. Setting it to the volume you can get some really cool rhythms.
Can you assign it to more than one parameter?
I'm also puzzled by the various sample and sound storage options. .. sound browser, sound pool, + drive etc. ..
I understand why they exist but not clear how i populate and move sounds around from my project to the browser / pool etc ...
You mean like the way they are stored together and accessed? Like a workflow of the samples within the machine?
Enrique Martinez - yes that would be most helpful 😊
Who could possible dislike this???
Awesome!!! Thank u so much!!🖤
Getting the knowledge. Thank you man
thank for your videos
Good vidy Thanks Enrique ! Plus; Good Doggie !
Great vid. I understand how the LFO affects the Filter and Amp settings but not clear about the Sample options?
i would like to see multiple lfo’s per-track & also multiple destinations per-lfo. one lfo & one destination is very limiting coming from a modular background. i just bought a digitakt this week & already reaching some limits.
I reckon they could support it by hitting the LFO button again to go to new LFOs...
there is trick that allows you assing multiple lfos from midi tracks to sample track / you can find it on YT
The 1.3 update adds a 2nd LFO per track.
Yesss! Thanks for this.

Hey, it is very helpful! thak you
Ricky how do you see this stacking up against the new Blackbox? Could the BB take the Digitakt's long-held sampler crown?
Is the digitone sequencer the same one as the digitakt and the new Model samples sampler
Thanks
J Horrobin [UK]
Thanks for this!
great tutorial !! would be great if make another series with Digitone :)
If only i had a Digitone :(
Thank you Enrique. Another great video. Hey guys! my girlfriend wants to get involved with my Digitakt by sampling her voice into it. Can anyone suggest a way for her to sing into the Direct recording of Digitakt? What mic setup is needed anyone know? Thank you. 🎤🎤

is possible use different LFO for each part ? example part 1 is Filter, part 2 is pitch, part 3 is volume . thnx
so each track, or part, has its own single LFO. They can all be assigned to whatever you want pertaining to that particular track.
I understand how it could be fun creating with this box but after u found your cool patterns how would u utilize this box in a live scenario
2 years later here I am again. Great explanation of the lfo page. Thanks for the insightful videos. Very helpful.
Thank you!!
THX
Doin god's work
I didn't know about the function button plus knob turn technique...thanks
its a game changer
nice Education. Thanks.

Thank god for the automation and parameter locks! Not the same I know but its a nice workaround.
Yes, and now there is no need to be sad anymore, because Elektron provided us with a 2nd LFO with their firmware 1.30 release! 🙂
still good!
glad you're finding this helpful all this time later haha
oooh TRG mode is something!!!!
So would it be possible to set a randomization to where the lfo is being sent ?
well since the digitakt only has one LFO it's destination would be to itself making it useless :( unless you mean parameter locking it's destination on each step that im not sure but would be absolutely insane.
yes, randomize the lfo parameter assignment. 30% chance of sample start say, filter, pan, etc.
off it's meds:D nice
You should always double check your destination...lol
I miss the LFO as an assignable envelope setting.
Guess it's time to redo this video...
I reckon your pretty good Enrique...but if this is for beginners , I think I have to sell my digitakt. The Trig conditions tut was impossible ...I hoped this beginner tut would be better for me. No offence intended ..its me I reckon.
All in good time Martin! Try checking out some of Cuckoo's videos or BoBeats videos as well. slowly but surely the dots will click i hope :)
