The worst part is that some people actually still think that anime is from China instead of Japan.
Due to some recent researches, the existence of anime who originiates from China have been confirmed, even if the quality of those is capable of breaking the limit of 5 out of 10 on MyAnimeList. For the safety of the otaku universe they have been sealed in an unknown place in Chinaland though.

As an otaku myself, I do believe Puella Magi Attack On One Punch Naruto Art Online had a decent plot, though it did need a little more thought put into side characters and certain story arcs were too fast paced. Otherwise, I'd recommend it.
The Manga was better, though the movie did go deep into Armored tit-Akatsuki-art-online portion that the manga skipped over.

First of all, if you are an anime fan, chances are you've fallen into the inescapable trap known as Otoko no Ko, translated into English as Trap, so yeah, that's accurate enough.
Second of all, OtiaW is right, in Japanese, an Otaku is someone so obsessed with a specific type of entertainment, not just anime, but games, books, hell, even science, that they forgo being with friends or leaving their room in order to enjoy the medium, and obsess with it for long periods of time, often causing them to shut themselves in. So if somebody were to cancel all their plans with friends and lock themselves into a room to do a science project for 3 days, they would technically be an otaku (although the meaning of the word has started to change to mean an anime fan, and is starting to lose it's roundedness that allows it to refect multiple topics). A Hikkikomori is similar, but the idea is that a hikkikomori is a shut-in, somebody who doesn't leave their house and usually lacks a job, but this can be due to a wide range of factors, not just things they like.
