What a treat to see your lovely self, and your dear Mum here on the podcast. It was a most special part of my VKL experience to have time with you both at the Gala dinner. As you said, it was such fun, and WOW the treats and swag bags we were all given.. I'm also thinking about when I can come back again. Here's to making that happen, and being together again!
Amy, thank you so much for your thoroughly delightful video. I watched every minute of it! Your knitting is so impressive. I particularly liked that headband where you used all those different brioche stitches. You looked beautiful in it. It's so comforting to be able to watch you and your beautiful colors and listen to your soothing voice, especially at this time in the U.S. when everything has been turned on its head and, each morning when we wake up, we don't know what the catastrophe of the day will be. Thank you again.
Amy, I am glad you guys brave the weather and enjoy my city. Bryant Park is always special to me as is a handkerchief of greenery in the middle of the skyscrapers. We need lots of trees everywhere but specially in this very busy city. I am sad about your giant old tree in the Botanical garden been broken like a match. I hope they get on planting soon, after all spring is almost here ;-)
Amy I loved this episode, but it saddens me to see the Botanical Gardens have lost so many of their treasures, this is my favourite place in Edinburgh. I used to go there with a dear friend on those cold sunny days and I just found so much peace and joy from walking amongst those trees. Thanks for sharing the poem, you seem to read my mind as just earlier today I was thinking I should get one of Mary Oliver books and start reading them, as she seems to write a language that speaks to me. Thanks for taking the time and care to record a beautiful episode! sending much love from Spain!
Delightful! I enjoyed every word. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences of your trip to New York with your lovely mother, the yarns, the colors, the lectures, the classes, the fashions and your projects. My husband lost hearing in his right ear last year. He said it was very disorienting. I hope yours is only temporary. I look forward to your next podcast and seeing your creations.
So much fun to re-live such a wonderful weekend! Great to spend time with you and your Mom before the whirlwind of the event. VKL is always fantastic and of course NYC too. Thanks for the great episode!!!
Thank you Amy, it was so good to see you and your mom again!!! You have no idea how you inspire us all. I didn't even finish watching this episode when I decided I had to have that Jared Flood blanket book! I popped out to my local Chapters bookstore and snagged one ASAP! I also picked up a mug with a perky message in cross stitches, and then stopped at the grocery next door and bought some cruffins, so my day and belly are full and rich! 😅💗
Thank you so much for another wonderful Podcast. Nice to see , that you and your mom had much joy in New York. I love your brioche cowl. All the best for your ear🥰
you and your mum are so sweet together!! thank you for sharing your VKL experience. i went almost totally deaf in my right ear for about 3 months a few years ago when i had shingles on my face and it was quite a weird experience. i remember i kept thinking that things weren't working eg speakers in my car, television etc, constantly forgetting that it was my ear that wasn't working. hope your hearing issues are resolved soon!
what a lovely yarny trip with your sweet mum. thanks for sharing all your vkl adventures. i loved those cards at the beginning and the poem at the end. thank you :)
Thank you for sharing your trip. You looked absolutely fabulous in your pink ‘outfit’ and very cosy. X
Oh! The Kinua is absolutely gorgeous too! I do love Peruvian wool. It is right up there with Shetland wool!
What a special time for you and your mom! Thank you for sharing it with us. I love all your knits! The poem made me cry. Happy creating 💚🧶🩷
Loved this video and hearing about your trip. What a wonderful adventure and blessing to share with your mom. I was also happy yo see you came home with yarn from Biscotte Yarns, a wonderful Canadian yarn shop. The wife and husband team, Louise and Patrick are extremely talented. 🇨🇦
Enjoy.
I love your Purple Dragon! Your beret looks wonderful. I have deliberately felted/partially felted mittens and been happy with the transformation. I can barely wait to see your Lapwing collar!! Thank you for a splendid episode!!
Hello Amy, everything you showed today.. beautiful, but the beret looks absolutely adorable on you. I so enjoy your podcast. When I found you, I went back to your very first one & binged watch while working on a project until I caught up. Many blessings.
Thank you Amy. ❤
Thank you for another wonderful vlog! It was great to hear about your VKL adventures with your mum, whom I share both birthday month and year with! I love the way you have embraced your winter colour palette in your hand knitting. Look forward to seeing more. Truly a devastating storm for the botanic garden.
Thank you Amy for sharing your trip to NYC. I am 72 and I can just imagine how much your mum has enjoyed this trip! I also love the project bags from your auntie and a few years ago I bought a small one from her. Now I wanted a big one ans it appears that, living in Spain, I cannot buy from her anymore! EU laws and I am soooo disappointed! Wish there was a solution for that 🤔 Lovely podcast again as always, take good care of your hearing! Big hug 💜💐
What an amazing time you had with your Mom in NYC. Thank you so much for sharing all of the fun! And.......your yarn purchases!!!! They are amazing, especially your first purchase of that incredible, what looks like a royal blue colorway...just glorious!
Delightful! I’m so glad you an your mum enjoyed your trip to NYC. Happy New Year!
What a wonderful mother-daughter trip to VKL! Not only a load of fun and beautiful "wooly souveniers" but so many new techniques to integrate. You've inspired me to re-visit the Cocoknits method course. The purple cardigan with her shoulder method and is TAILORED so perfectly on you! Lovely to catch up. Hope your ear rights itself soon dear Amy.
I am truly enchanted by the cocoknits method. Such neat tailoring! And so versatile.
Thank you for another very interesting podcast. Pleased to know that you enjoyed your adventure in New York. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you for another beautiful podcast. Your trip seems to have been a memorable one, how lucky you are to be able to share this time together. Your FO’s are just stunning and judging by your acquisitions there are many more to come, fantastic!
What an exciting trip you both had in NYC! I believe that Clair from Claire likes to Knit also has made two of those feather neckbands. Her were wonderful and I can’t wait to see what you make up in those colors. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Ooh good tip! I’ll check her out - thank you!
Great VKL roundup. So many beautiful things. I know you and your Mother had a wonderful time. You are so lucky to be able to share the experience with each other. And especially thank you for highlighting the importance of trees and the effects of their loss. A single oak tree can support up to 2300 individual species. Everything from birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, caterpillars and other insects, fungi and many beneficial microorganisms. The good thing is that with care, they will replace and regrow - as long as we give them the opportunity.
Thank you - I love your tree wisdom that you’ve shared here. Brings hope.
Thank you ❤
Oh that purple yarn, Amy! Could that be some of Alice starmore's feathers? Flipping yummy yarn. All your knits are yummy! Love from Shetland. ❤❤❤
Amy, I think it is very significant you drew the Hidden Moon card. Considering what is happening to women rights currently. Lovely to see your podcast, always enjoy seeing your projects
How do you mean? X😊
That was my first thought exactly. Especially us women in the US right now. Truly saddened 😢
Yes - it certainly felt that way to me too. And, perhaps even broader in that the ways of the feminine as available to us all are being dishonoured and suppressed right now, and things feel very out of balance. But, I guess, if I lean more fully into the wisdom of the buried feminine it is to remember the cyclic nature of all things. And while that’s not an invitation into passivity, it is, perhaps, incentive not to despair.
@ very well said!! 🩷
I think the advancement of women’s rights the world over are a bit on the back foot right now. It’s so important to stay informed. We’ve come so far, but still such a long way to go, globally, collectively, nationally and interpersonally.
Amy, you and your mom are just so lovely. 🥰
I agree. What lovely ladies ❤❤❤
So inspiring! Great swag 😂 Watched in 2 sittings…. I had started commenting on your knits…. So when I came back to watch…my comments were gone 😱 and I can’t remember everything now … but I was enchanted by everything !
It was a bit of a full chatty one this time!
I love that…. I sit and knit with you chatting away…. It¡s almost like you’re right there in the room 😂 🙌
Just popped by for a wee blether over a cuppa. 😂
@@AmyPalko you certainly did and also you swithered 😂 nobody here swithers! Such a lovely word
Simply delightful Amy as you always are and your Mum too !! So very sad about the 'lost' trees some of which we 'touched' when in magnificent botanical gardens in Scotland a decade or so ago. The age of many is almost incomprehensible and their loss unfathomable. Hope your hearing improves soon !
Thank you Amy! I so enjoyed your podcast this Saturday night. So relaxing while also inspiring!
Thanks so much for sharing your VKL, and your mom, with us. Great knitting to come with all these acquisitions. I love the idea of overdying the pale yarn. Thanks for the tree poem at the end. 💖
Pleased you had a lovely time with your Mum in NYC. Sorry to hear about the damage to your botanical gardens, living in an area that has cyclones and monsoon events ( going through one atm) I understand the devastation and sad it is. Hope that you enjoy seeing how nature also renews itself with a little help from friends.
Sending love to you as you encounter these challenging weather events.
Hi Amy, it was so lovely to meet you in person at the Starbucks on Sunday morning. Thanks for the hug! I went on to the show and bought four sweater amounts at VKL!
Oh goodness, hello! And thank *you* for that lovely hug. So glad we got to meet in person. I hope you had a wonderful time at VKL and left feeling super inspired for your future making.
Jealous? Moi? 😅Looks like you both had a blast, thanks for sharing it all❤
Amy, my ears used to be just like your left one when I was little. Have you and your doctor spoken about needing tubes put in your year? I had lost 40% of my hearing by the time I was 6 - two rounds of tubes got me hearing again. Also, do you see a chiropractor? Sometimes adjustments can help, as well as red light therapy. Sending healing energy your way 💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷🧶💚🩷💚🩷💚

Beware, the Knit & Crochet Blankets book has errors in many of the patterns. I wasted hours knitting a whole repeat of the Warp + Weft pattern before I realised that the chart was completely wrong. When I contacted the publishers they were less than helpful - directed me to the website containing errata. I wonder whether Jared Flood is aware of this.
Lovely podcast Amy. Love them all. Your mum looks a darling and you obviously have good relationship
I’m intrigued by the goddess part of your podcasts. What made you interested me where did you start x
Ah gosh, well, I stumbled upon Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Everywoman while completing my PhD back in 2008. Initiated a deep dive and the beginning of my own personal goddess practice. Started my goddess guidance work in 2010 drawing upon archetype and ancient myth to provide deep seeing and practical support for women meeting the challenges of the contemporary moment. Can’t believe that was 15yrs ago now!!
@ sounds very interesting
Who is the author - Cecilia ? - of the new stitch dictionary that will be published? Thank you!! :)
Cecelia Campochiaro - she’s an absolute wonder.
Please could you tell me about the beautiful shawl your Mum is wearing?
I think it’s a Stephen West mash up of Shawlography and Striped Esjan. She’s knitted the Shawlography as per pattern up to the border and then switched out that border for the one from Striped Esjan.
Thank you so much - That’s something to aim for!
